Chapter 74: The Magic World (2)
NTAuthor: (Sorry) Caution, incoming bulk information. Read carefully for better understanding.
How is it transmitted?
As history tells us: Through the Arkantes Gods.
To be sure, no one has seen them. Nor do they seem to have spoken to them, but they can perceive them.
They are known as the Five Elemental Gods and represent an Absolute Natural Principle. They are constantly building the world as they please.
The Arkantes Gods have their attributes.
Althéon is the God of Fire.
Myraë is the Goddess of Water.
Caelion is the God of Air.
Solun is the God of Earth.
Finally, Umbraes, the God of the Void / Shadow, whose research is the strangest, is even its Regent Principle, according to the Church’s belief, is Contrast, Entropy, and Doubt, which is defined as: The occult defines the form of the visible.
In order for "them" (or the Logic-Magic Mesh itself) to be able to transmit things to you better, you need to resonate with their energy. You need to know how to use the corresponding energy of the God with whom you want to create magic.
Textually it says: Magical Power and Magic flow better when the logical and conceptual understanding of the God is deep. It is not emotional devotion but a rational and structured faith in what you perceive.
This is why, at the moment Louis caused the Magical Reaction, his power resonated with the energy of the God of Air, resulting in the Threads changing. This is also why he failed many times to create the Water Rune.
Because he was constantly resonating with Fire, and the Fabrics did not match. They were not the same.
There was a logical imbalance because he was trying to fit skinny fabrics where fat fabrics were going.
The Fabrics change according to the elemental energy you want to invoke; that is why it is so important to understand each God and try to resonate with them.
The problem is that a slight temperature change can cause a significant change in the surrounding Fabrics...
"...This can result in completely new and different Magics. This is the fascinating world of the Investigating Magicians, also called: Sorcerers."
When all the information got to this point, Louis felt like he traveled back in time a bit.
Suddenly, he was in that boat bringing him from the Land of the Gods to this place, next to Sir Jack.
He remembered his words: The North and the South are peculiar and completely opposite. While one is completely cold and where snow falls constantly, the other is completely hot, where volcanoes erupt everywhere.
His mind whirred, and he came to his senses.
"Professor..." He spoke quickly. "Is it possible that... What happens in the North and South is actually a continuous magical reaction? Volcanoes... They may not necessarily exist everywhere in the south. They just... They form from magic."
His question brought silence.
Hardrial stared at him...
But he wasn’t really looking at anything.
He was lost in thought.
He didn’t know why he had never thought about it. Not just him. No magicians had ever noticed that peculiarity.
It was true. If the Threads of Arcane Flow are everywhere, it is perfect to think they are also deep within the earth.
Research on this side of the world has revealed it.
So... Why on earth didn’t anyone think that might be the case?
He suddenly seemed to understand the millennium dilemma.
For millennia, Magicians, Scientists, Researchers, and every type of living being have been theorizing what goes on there, from the presence of Gods to Logical Errors. In fact, trying to investigate those places has resulted in the realization of the "existence" of those Gods (although for many, they have not been confirmed).
But no one thought about it?
Then he remembered something.
An investigation some 10 years ago suggested that perhaps the gods of water and fire were present in that place.
As he did so, he remembered the reasons for that belief, which were quite logical.
"No. It shouldn’t be. According to the latest research, two Gods could be interfering there."
"Why?" Louis felt confused. If there were two Gods with their respective elements, wouldn’t it make it easier to formulate magics and confirm what he was saying?
But that’s because he was unaware of something.
"There’s a concept you don’t know about yet, it’s called Magic Failure. It occurs when you simply cannot create a magic, even if you have the advantage of the terrain that gives you the type of magic you want to create. In the South, for example, you cannot create Fire Magic, nor in the North Water Magic. Magic Failure prevents it."
’Magic Failure?"
The moment the magic fails.
"Why does it fail?"
"I don’t know." Hardrial shook his head. "It just fails. A God was the theory told."
That was strange and didn’t make sense.
"And it fails on everyone equally?"
Hardrial was confused by his question, but shook his head. "Leaving aside that magics of other types can be created with difficulty, but they can, those who are powerful might even go so far as to create Fire Magics. So, it’s not on everyone equally."
Louis nodded, thoughtfully.
In the fantasy he had once read, when something went wrong, it meant that something was interfering with his creation. In this world, logic is also governed by the same rules.
For something to fail, something must cause it to fail.
There is always a reason—the Principle of Causality in all its splendor.
For example, you may fail to create magic if someone else interferes with your Intention or your Magical Processing ability.
Illusionists are specialists in this. But that means that the formulation of magic is governed by the same rules he knew from fantasy: For something to fail, something must cause it to fail.
It’s not going to fail just because.
Obviously, this could also mean that those two gods interfere with the creation of the magic in those places, but it could also mean something else.
"Perhaps the reason for the failure is not the presence of a god. If it were, I think the Human Gods might have realized that long ago, since the stronger it is, the less effect it has. Rather, I think it might be what I said."
"Why do you think so?"
"Magical Failure can only occur when your Intention is interrupted by something, right?" he asked.
Hardrial nodded.
"So there’s a power interfering there, and it doesn’t make sense that it’s a God; there’s no way a God would be creating natural disasters for thousands of years, just because. Besides, if it were, then where is the wind and the earth? Are there places that can explain it?"
"Furthermore, if it doesn’t have much effect on the powerful, why haven’t the Human Gods noticed it? They should be able to create magics, shouldn’t they? Shouldn’t they know when someone interferes with them?"
Hardrial nodded again, wanting Louis to get to the point.
"What is interfering there is the intention of the world and the place that is in chain reactions creating magics, which far exceeds the intention of a weak person. That might explain why you can’t create magics, despite the advantage of the terrain."
"Also, something even more important is that, as you say, the more your energy resonates with that of the God, the more potent your magic will be. But if it there doesn’t apply to everyone, something external to a God interferes. I don’t think a God wants to interfere with his believers when they seek to do something he wants them to do, do you?"
