Chapter 927: Chapter 928: Former Leader of Feixue Legion, Xia Wan’an
The efforts she had put in might not have found a solution yet, and the woman’s eyes seemed a bit vacant, making one wonder if she could see her way through the situation momentarily.
However, these things had nothing to do with Li Changlin; he and the woman were mere strangers who had met by chance, there was no way he was going to ask if she needed help with anything.
If he really did that, she might mistakenly think Li Changlin had ulterior motives.
By then, it would probably be too hard to explain anything.
"Ha ha, Xia Wan’an, you’re really here!" Just as Li Changlin was juggling countless thoughts in his mind, a brash voice suddenly appeared behind him.
This time, the newcomer was a man, who sounded incredibly pleased with himself, as if he had either won fifty million in a lottery or made a billion in business.
But these things seemed to have nothing to do with Li Changlin.
Really, could one not even enjoy a coffee without running into such drama? Could it be that he hadn’t checked the almanac before leaving the house?
It was indeed depressing; Li Changlin felt that some melodramatic event was about to unfold right before him.
However, he clearly overthought it.
The man approached the table, noting that there were two people seated there. He gave Li Changlin a brief glance, "Are you her friend?"
"Uh, no!" Li Changlin shook his head, worried about any misunderstanding, so he explained, "I was just here drinking coffee when this lady suddenly sat down."
Li Changlin had obviously misunderstood, thinking that the woman and the man were in a relationship.
The man nodded, then took out his wallet, pulled out five one-hundred bills, and tossed them in front of Li Changlin, "Here, take these and change your seat. This is a reward from this young master."
Li Changlin was taken aback for a moment, then looked up at the man, "Hey, bro, you’re being so generous, do you expect ’The Nearly Divine Tycoon’ to thank you again?"
"That doesn’t matter, it’s just a few hundred bucks. Go on, don’t dawdle, I’ve got things to do!" The man was indeed somewhat funny, waving his hand dismissively as if he was shooing a fly, his impatience evident.
"Huo Hongxing, don’t be ridiculous, this man is a top tier celebrity; you think a few hundred yuan will make him leave? Could it be that you mistake your money for gold?" Suddenly, the woman sitting opposite Li Changlin spoke up.
Her words instantly made Li Changlin do a double-take, compelling him to look at her once more, "Hey, beautiful, do you know ’The Nearly Divine Tycoon’?"
"What are you looking at? Haven’t you seen a beauty before? You’re Li Changlin, of course I know you!" Xia Wan’an gave Li Changlin a complicated look, as if she wanted to mock him, but the thought of her family’s current difficulties immediately dissipated all other thoughts.
Ever since she returned to Shanghai City, Xia Wan’an had realized the severe crisis her family’s business was facing. Her father, Xia Rongguo, had turned grey overnight.
At the end of the day, Rongguo Education Group’s crisis had a lot to do with the man in front of her, Huo Hongxing.
The Jiangnan Huo Family was a behemoth. Their main business was in education and, wanting to break into the Shanghai City market, the Huo Family first attempted to buy out the Rongguo Group. After being rejected by Xia Rongguo, Huo Family resorted to underhand methods that caused Rongguo Education Group to suffer several safety incidents in short order, including a severe case of mass food poisoning.
These events greatly tarnished the reputation of Rongguo Education Group and put tremendous pressure on their business operations, causing massive operational stress.
Yet, that was not the worse of it. The real blow to Rongguo Education Group came when Huo Family and their allied education groups poached ninety percent of the senior staff.
Furthermore, Rongguo Education Group had nearly fifty percent of their teaching staff poached by several large groups as well.
Such tactics nearly crashed Rongguo Education.
Her father, Xia Rongguo, had gone grey overnight and even suffered a stroke ending up in the hospital.
Now, the entire group was managed solely by Xia Wan’an, handling a plethora of issues daily and also dealing with the teachers’ morale.
Currently, Rongguo Education Group’s three high schools had merged into one to continue educational learning, but cramming thousands of students into one school was itself a significant safety risk.
If not for this merger, however, Rongguo Education Group would face a huge gap in educational resources. Under such circumstances, no matter what Xia Wan’an did, it was akin to trying to quench a thirst with poison.
If she didn’t quickly find a solution, not only would Rongguo Education Group collapse, but her father, Xia Rongguo, could also face legal charges.
Although Xia Wan’an had once been the leader of the billion-dollar Feixue Legion, running live streams versus running an education business were worlds apart.
Moreover, when she left the Feixue Legion, to make up for the shareholders’ losses, she only took a few million with her.
A few million is a fortune for the average person, but it was utterly useless for Rongguo Education.
A few million could not solve the problems of Rongguo Education Group.
Even if there were more money, it wouldn’t help.
What Rongguo Education lacked was resources, teaching resources!
It was truly difficult, extremely so.
After many company staff were poached by the Huo Family and their allied groups, the remaining teachers and employees were already panicking.
Under these circumstances, the fact that Xia Wan’an could temporarily maintain the status quo was quite remarkable.
Thinking about recruiting more staff and teachers now seemed like wishful thinking.
"Ahem, I’m just curious, how do you know me, beautiful?" Li Changlin sheepishly touched his nose, but then turned his head toward Huo Hongxing, "So, young master, I’m very sorry, but since Miss Xia knows ’The Nearly Divine Tycoon’, I can’t give up my seat to you."
"Darn it, kid, you’re playing me, aren’t you? I’m telling you, you’re done for, completely done! You know who I am? I am from the Jiangnan Huo Family, known as Young Master Huo Er!" Upon hearing what Li Changlin said, Huo Hongxing instantly felt humiliated and his face darkened.
Li Changlin frowned slightly; he didn’t want to confront the Jiangnan Huo Family so quickly, but he thought since he had already offended the Chen Family, and since the Jiangnan Huo Family was closely connected to them, it was only a matter of time before he couldn’t avoid them.
