Chapter 579: Chapter 580 Heading to Mysterious Marsh Forest_1
Thank you, brothers, for supporting "The Wandering Heroes, I Speak for Labor"!
"All right, that’s not a problem. Rest assured and go ahead; I will take good care of Miss Ye," the Messenger said with a smile, nodding in agreement to Li Changlin’s request.
"No, Brother Changlin, I want to go with you," Ye Xiyao’s face showed a panicked expression, fearing that Li Changlin wouldn’t want her anymore.
"Xi Yao, Brother Changlin isn’t someone you follow for fun. Following him would be very dangerous," Li Changlin reached out to gently stroke Ye Xiyao’s hair, saying with a serious expression, "Once Brother Changlin has obtained enough Crystal Cores, I will come back as soon as possible. Just be at ease."
"Miss Ye, you have the strength of a chicken. If you insist on following, I’m afraid you’ll distract Young Master Li," the Messenger advised.
The Mysterious Marsh Forest is no safe place; danger lurks there at every moment. Li Changlin, at the very least, is a mid-stage Martial Master, and though he may not be able to run amok in the Mysterious Marsh Forest, self-preservation would certainly not be an issue.
Hearing the Messenger say so, Ye Xiyao began to hesitate.
Seeing this, Li Changlin quickly made more promises.
Finally, Ye Xiyao no longer persisted and nodded silently, "Brother Changlin, you must come back safely."
Seeing the tearful look on Ye Xiyao’s face, Li Changlin’s heart was filled with sadness.
Truth be told, he certainly didn’t want to part with Xi Yao, but to return home, he had no choice but to head for the Mysterious Marsh Forest.
"Then I’m off," said Li Changlin gently, hugging Ye Xiyao, and then he turned and bowed to the Messenger.
"Hold on, honored guest," seeing Li Changlin about to leave, the Messenger hastily beckoned to him, "Honored guest, are you going there all by yourself?"
"Otherwise, what?" Li Changlin looked at the Messenger in surprise.
"Dealing with a Giant Fierce Tiger is not a simple matter," the Messenger said calmly, "Although you are a mid-stage Martial Master, to my knowledge, even the weakest adult Giant Fierce Tiger in the Mysterious Marsh Forest is at least a late-stage Martial Master or above.
"That powerful!" Li Changlin frowned slightly, not expecting that a mere beast could be so formidable.
"More than that, a single Exquisite Astral Chant Monkey troop typically has three to five Giant Fierce Tigers accompanying it. So, if you go without any preparation, it will be difficult to obtain a Crystal Core."
"Brother Changlin, why don’t you hold off? Practice your martial arts and then go," Ye Xiyao urged, anxious after hearing the Messenger’s words.
"I must go," Li Changlin shook his head and said resolutely.
"Of course, you must go," the Messenger nodded, then turned and went to the corner of the wall, fetching a large bow, "Honored guest, I’ll lend you this Exquisite Bow for now. There are fifty arrows in this quiver; take them as well."
"Thank you," Li Changlin quickly took it. With this long-range weapon, he was much more confident against the Giant Fierce Tiger.
"I also have a Jing Jue Sword here; take it with you. Once you have completed the task, you can return it to me," the Messenger pulled a Precious Sword from the wall, and Li Changlin quickly took it and stored it away.
"With these two weapons as protection, I believe you should be able to accomplish the task," satisfied with Li Changlin’s equipped bow and Precious Sword, the Messenger said.
"Thank you for your assistance, Messenger. Then, I shall take my leave," Li Changlin nodded, then bid Xi Yao farewell and turned to walk toward the door.
"Brother Changlin, please be careful," Ye Xiyao quickly followed, calling softly, "Brother Changlin, Xi Yao will be waiting here for you. You must come back safely!"
"Don’t worry, Xi Yao, Brother Changlin will definitely return," Li Changlin dared not look back, responded loudly, and then stepped out of the doorway.
Ye Xiyao hurriedly followed, leaning against the stone wall and softly watching Li Changlin’s retreating figure, her tears streaming down.
Although he knew Xi Yao was crying, Li Changlin didn’t stop; he walked resolutely towards the village gate, putting aside his feelings for the sake of returning home sooner.
Leaving the village, he proceeded in a northeast direction.
According to the Messenger, about three hundred li away from there, he would reach the outskirts of the Mysterious Marsh Forest.
The Exquisite Astral Chant Monkey herds generally live in the center of the peripheries of the Mysterious Marsh Forest, where there isn’t too much danger.
Even so, Li Changlin didn’t dare to be too careless.
After all, those Giant Fierce Tigers have the strength of a Late-stage Martial Master or above.
Although he had never seen how enormous the Giant Fierce Tigers were, he figured they must be larger than regular tigers.
Otherwise, how could they be called Giant Tigers?
Gradually, Li Changlin traveled farther and farther.
At this time, the sky had also become somewhat gloomy.
As he continued his journey, the area ahead had already turned into a wasteland.
Looking around, it was a vast expanse of land, everywhere were all kinds of weeds growing, but not a single tree was in sight.
The strong wind blew, and the weeds swayed without any rigidity, bending their bodies.
Faintly, sometimes Li Changlin would see one or two large carcasses of wild beasts lying on the ground amongst the weeds, but he couldn’t identify what kind of creatures they were.
This place was extremely desolate, with weeds as the only sign of life.
But Li Changlin did not dare to let his guard down at all.
Because he knew that often, deadly threats could be hiding among these weeds.
He moved forward, stepping on the withered grass, which made a crunching noise.
Rustle, rustle. Rustle!
Suddenly, at that moment, the weeds in front of him violently parted to both sides, making a rustling sound.
Li Changlin immediately halted his steps.
His ears twitched, and he had already discerned the sound, which seemed like something was crawling rapidly close to the ground.
Most creatures crawling on the ground were snakes.
Seeing how the weeds parted, it was clear that whatever it was, it was coming in his direction.
Obviously, the thing lurking in the shadows must have detected his presence.
Li Changlin tightened his grip on the Precious Sword in his hand, with his right hand already on the hilt.
Should he notice anything amiss, he would immediately draw his sword and strike a head-on blow.
The weeds parted swiftly, and the rustling noise grew louder.
The approaching force was swift as wind, which made Li Changlin immediately conclude that what was hidden among the weeds had to be a large snake.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a massive head burst through the weeds, from its mouth a scarlet tongue flicked out, hissing twice in the air.
"It really is a snake!" Li Changlin’s eyes narrowed slightly, seeing the head of the snake, he was sure that this snake was not small, and he became even more cautious in his heart.
However, just at that moment, the snake’s head suddenly sank down, followed by the rustling noise once again rising.
