Chapter 699: Chapter 769: Ambush

Fang Yi was very surprised by Jin Yuzhi’s intervention, because he hadn’t expected Hua Huiyue to act at this time. Knowing that Jin Yuzhi’s "attitude" towards him had been quite poor before, Fang Yi now realized that the Desire Sect Leader might just have a sharp tongue but a soft heart.

Fang Yi was not a man to be coy. With Jin Yuzhi stepping in, she would inevitably be put on the opposite side of many in the martial arts community. Given Jin Yuzhi’s intelligence, she must have foreseen this. Thus, her daring move indicated that she had come to a resolution.

Jin Yuzhi was also at the Heavenly Level Rank 2. With her stepping in, his presence was redundant. So, after hearing Jin Yuzhi’s words, Fang Yi picked up Hua Huiyue and left.

He made a note of this favor from Jin Yuzhi.

"Not good! He’s escaping!"

"The nerve to take Sect Leader Hua with him, this man is clearly lusting after her beauty!"

Zhou Hao was particularly vocal, exclaiming, "Everyone, block this bastard and save my master’s wife!" However, while he shouted the loudest, he was not the first to charge, nor did anyone else rush forward.

Just as Fang Yi adjusted Hua Huiyue’s position on his back, preparing to leave, a chilling sensation suddenly came from behind him, making him feel as if he had fallen into an ice cellar. Then, a powerful voice boomed, "With the Alliance Hierarch here, Fang Yi, today you have no escape to the heavens or the earth, even with wings, you cannot flee!"

Ying Juekong!

Fang Yi’s expression turned stern; he hadn’t expected the Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch Ying Juekong to strike against him too!

Certainly, when one’s down, everyone piles on. Fang Yi hadn’t anticipated it would come to this. But as Ying Juekong prepared to strike at Fang Yi, a figure shot out like lightning, deflecting Ying Juekong’s palm strike.

An old man, pure and dignified with an otherworldly bearing, stood with his hands clasped behind his back. When the crowd caught sight of him, they were all taken aback. As Fang Yi fled, he couldn’t help but glance back and, seeing Zhang Qingfeng’s back, he was moved.

"Old Zhang, I will remember this favor," Fang Yi uttered softly, then continued to flee without hesitation.

It wasn’t that Fang Yi wished to stay out of it, but he knew his strength was lacking. Unless he reached the Heavenly Level, he wouldn’t even be able to defeat Zhou Hai; staying would merely be a burden.

"What are you standing around for?" Ying Juekong bellowed, "Fang Yi is now a wanted criminal in the martial arts world, why aren’t you capturing him!" His words were clearly meant for the various sects.

The Desire Sect had already dispersed their disciples at Jin Yuzhi’s earlier instructions, with only Su Ge’er remaining behind; Zhang Daozi of the Wudang Sect saw Zhang Qingfeng step forward and frowned slightly, soon after saying in a clear voice, "All disciples, stand by here."

Caught between the Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch and their own elder Zhang Qingfeng, Zhang Daozi understood Zhang Qingfeng’s character and inwardly sighed, "Why is my fellow disciple so impetuous?" But he didn’t order the Wudang Sect disciples to pursue Fang Yi, choosing not to support either side.

Aside from the Desire Sect and the Wudang Sect, the disciples of the Sky Sword Sect were incited by Zhou Hao to join the chase, and those from Qingcheng Sect and the temple also pursued.

However, at this moment, two figures emerged, blocking everyone’s path.

A sword swept out, its cold light dazzling, and the young man, eyes cold as ice, spoke chillingly, "I would like to see the skills of the honorable sect disciples, please oblige."

The crowd was taken aback. The young sword fanatic was blocking their path—not to challenge them, but clearly siding with Fang Yi, trying to buy him time.

"Hahaha!"

A hearty laugh echoed as the practitioner of Drunken Fist, Lv Fang, stepped forward, creating distance from the Little Sword Idiot but stood parallel to him, looking towards the crowd and shouted, "I, too, would like to experience the skills of your illustrious schools. Come on and teach me a lesson!"

"Little Sword Idiot, Lv Fang, you’re cheering for that devil. Do you understand the consequences?" Someone bellowed sharply.

"Right and wrong, I have my own judgment." The Little Sword Idiot pointed his long sword towards the person and said indifferently, "Please, come and enlighten me."

"Little Sword Idiot, Lv Fang, you are making enemies with the entire martial arts world." Zhou Hao stepped forward and reprimanded fiercely.

"I long realized you were no good. What a load of crap being the top disciple of the Sky Sword Sect!" Lv Fang exclaimed, "If you’re capable, let’s have a one-on-one duel, life and death decided by fate. Do you dare?"

Zhou Hao’s neck stretched out, and then he sneered, "Don’t waste time here. I won’t fall for your tricks!" Then Zhou Hao yelled loudly, "Fellow martial arts practitioners, please act quickly. Don’t let that devil Fang Yi escape!"

"Damn it, I’ve never seen such shamelessness." Lv Fang was angered, inflamed by Zhou Hao’s tactic of rallying everyone to fight, a murderous intent blossomed in his heart, wishing he could slap Zhou Hao to death.

When the crowd is large, blood runs hot, making them easy to incite. At this moment, the many martial arts practitioners and disciples of various sects, upon hearing Zhou Hao’s shouts and with "justice" supposedly on their side, were boiling with fervor, swearing not to let Fang Yi escape.

Consequently, the crowd surged over like a swarm, with the complexions of the Little Sword Idiot and Lv Fang growing grave, yet they did not back down, knowing full well that since they had stood out, there was no reason to step back now.

...

Fang Yi carried Hua Huiyue on his back as he fled. He did not leave her behind because Hua Huiyue was already poisoned, her mind unclear. If she were left there, who could ensure what might happen, who could guarantee that the shameless Zhou Hao wouldn’t do something else.

Fang Yi, already slandered by Zhou Hao and branded a devil by the martial arts practitioners, decided to take Hui Huiyue with him without hesitation, allowing him some peace of mind.

As Fang Yi was escaping, he would lift his left wrist to check his watch, on which many tiny dots were displayed, red and black. He was the red dot, and the black dots were part of Fang Yi’s secret arrangement.

Perhaps because Fang Yi was moving too swiftly, having engaged his Divine Travel Steps, Hua Huiyue on his back, jostled by the motion, began to murmur deliriously as if in a high fever, mumbling, "Cold... I’m... cold..."

Fang Yi felt a twinge of pain for her and slightly decreased his pace, muttering to himself, "Mother-in-law, don’t worry, everything will be alright."

Whether Hua Huiyue heard him or not, Fang Yi did not know. He was also unsure whether he was speaking to her or reassuring himself.

Fang Yi was making his way down the mountain when suddenly, a sense of crisis surged through him. It was an instinctive alertness to danger, like that of a wild beast. Having survived many life-and-death battles, his instincts now kicked in.

Ahead, amidst the vast snow, a dozen sinister gun barrels were aimed directly at Fang Yi.

Almost instantaneously, Fang Yi, still carrying Hua Huiyue, dodged!

Bang bang bang bang bang!

The sound of gunfire raked the air, and where Fang Yi had just stood, deep furrows were carved into the snow by bullets. If Fang Yi had not evaded quickly enough, he would likely have been peppered with holes.
