Chapter 483: Chapter 519, Proposal

Fang Yi put on his clothes, ready to leave, yet Isabella caught his arm with a swift move.

"Wanting another round?" Fang Yi turned his head and asked.

"No more, Abandoned Dragon, you’re too strong, how am I supposed to find you next time?" Isabella’s eyes were full of tenderness.

But Fang Yi didn’t soften at all. He felt wary towards this woman from Feather Ming Country.

"Isabella, I believe that, with your skills, you’ll be able to find me anytime," Fang Yi said with a smile before turning to leave.

Isabella’s eyes, soft with emotion, followed Fang Yi as he departed. The moment he vanished, the tenderness in Isabella’s gaze disappeared, replaced by a cold hardness.

Isabella licked her lips with her tongue and muttered to herself, "Abandoned Dragon, it’s nice to have you here. I’ve been searching for quite a while. If you’d just obediently come with me to Divine Court, I’d be very happy. But if you refuse, then don’t blame me for being ruthless~~~"

...

After the event, Fang Yi lit a cigarette and, with one hand in his pocket, made his way back to the banquet hall, only to hear uproarious shouting inside, as if the crowd was denouncing someone.

At first, Fang Yi found it quite amusing, but upon learning the target of the crowd’s condemnation was Shen Binnan, his expression grew dark.

Standing on the stage, Shen Binnan stood proudly, unable to step down, with a man guarding her in front.

"CEO Li, step aside. How despicable that the president of Longtu Group would cheat!" a man claimed angrily. These words sparked the crowd’s emotion, leading them to denounce in agreement.

"Yes, that’s right, she must explain herself!"

"Shen Binnan, come clean, did you cheat?"

"You’re already so wealthy, why stoop to compete with us commoners for money? Aren’t you ashamed?"

Fang Yi weaved through the crowd, catching on to the gist of the situation.

It turned out Shen Binnan had participated in the lottery as well, and she turned out incredibly lucky, or rather, strikingly fortunate, winning first prize in one go. Perhaps she could have won five million if she’d bought a lottery ticket!

Fang Yi was sure that someone with Shen Binnan’s conduct and character would never stoop to such a deed, but others were less convinced. Just like their loud vitriol suggested, Binnan’s securing the first prize was akin to taking a piece of their cake. To them, any prize not won by themselves was surely due to cheating—it was unfair!

Fang Yi sneered inwardly. He had seen too many of these types of people—everyone wanted fairness, but in reality, they were all more selfish than the next. They put on this act of steely resolve, yet wasn’t it all just sour grapes for not receiving any benefits themselves?

On the stage, Li Xuan appeared anxious, his hands raised in a vacant gesture, seemingly at his wit’s end when suddenly, he spotted Fang Yi in the crowd and an idea struck him.

Li Xuan loudly said, "May I have everyone’s attention, please? If you could all just listen to me for a moment, okay?"

"CEO Li, this doesn’t concern you. Please, step aside!" someone interjected.

"How does it not concern me?" Li Xuan’s face became stern all of a sudden.

"Ha, General Manager Li, don’t tell me Shen Binnan is your woman?" Nobody knew who had said this.

Yet the statement was very influential, or rather, it immediately sparked everyone’s curiosity. They all looked at Li Xuan and Shen Binnan with inquisitive eyes, as if they were expecting something.

Li Xuan looked troubled as he nodded, and then earnestly said, "I ask everyone to please consider my face and not make it difficult for Binnan. This matter is purely based on luck; there was absolutely no cheating. If everyone really thinks there is something fishy, let’s redo the lottery. I’ll personally pay for it this time, sorry to trouble everyone."

Li Xuan spoke sincerely and humbly, making it difficult for the crowd to press on—after all, his reputation had spread through them and was not bad. Furthermore, if he was willing to pay from his pocket to redo it, what more was there to say?

The crowd cheered, and at that moment, someone unknown said loudly, "General Manager Li, I wish you both a happy union for a hundred years!"

The statement was so loud that it stunned everyone for a moment before they all turned their attention to Li Xuan.

Li Xuan also made a move, turning around to face Shen Binnan.

During the previous process, Shen Binnan hadn’t said a word. She didn’t explain herself or clarify anything. Even as dirt was thrown her way, she remained indifferent, standing erect like an iceberg.

As Li Xuan turned to her, Shen Binnan asked coldly, "What, you’re finally ready to propose to me?"

Li Xuan was surprised and said, "You... how did you know?!"

Shen Binnan replied indifferently, "You’ve used this trick before in university. I understand you."

Li Xuan smiled and said, "Since you understand me, then you should know what I mean. Binnan, I truly love you. Leaving Xuan Cang was out of necessity. I went to pursue my dreams, and now I have achieved them."

Shen Binnan’s expression did not change: "So what?"

Li Xuan took out a ring box from his suit pocket, opened it, and inside was an exquisitely crafted ring, "So, I want to propose to you as a declaration of my sincerity. Binnan, I know you still love me. Now all you need to do is nod, and we can go back to how things were. We were lovers before, but now we can be husband and wife, fulfilling your once wish. Binnan, you haven’t forgotten, have you?"

A barely perceptible flicker of panic crossed Shen Binnan’s eyes. The room fell silent, and scenes of the long-buried past flickered through her mind.

The first meeting with Li Xuan, their first date, when they were a couple, the envy of others on campus. Back then, she had been happy, had been filled with joy, had also felt heartache...

But such heartache was in the past, and it seemed she had no reason to dwell on it any longer. The man before her was her first love, who had caused her pain, yet he had his reasons. Perhaps, as a woman, she should be more forgiving.

"Say yes to him! Say yes to him!" someone shouted from the crowd below.

And so, amidst the tide of people, cries of "Say yes to him" rose and fell, igniting an enthusiastic atmosphere in the entire banquet hall.

In the crowd, Fang Yi’s originally gloomy face returned to calm, and then he showed a wry, helpless smile. He turned around, and before him appeared a figure ethereal and exquisite—Song Hongye.

"I would marry you," Song Hongye said seriously.

"Song Hongye, I’m really not in the mood for jokes right now!"

Fang Yi didn’t care about Song Hongye’s status, gently grasped her fragrant shoulders, and then gently pulled her to one side, as he headed towards the exit of the banquet hall.

Amidst the noise and clamor, Fang Yi’s departure was quiet, very quiet, trying not to disturb anyone.

Alas, it seemed no one was disturbed, because their attention was all on the couple at the podium, rendering Fang Yi’s solitude profound.
