Chapter 470: Chapter 504: Incarceration

When Fang Yi awoke, his spirit was high and he felt as lively as a spirited dragon.

At the same time, the door to the interrogation room opened, and two guards walked in, taking seats opposite Fang Yi.

Fang Yi glanced at the two men, and before they could speak, he said indifferently, "Don’t play good cop, bad cop with me. I’m immune to that. If you want to pry something out of my mouth, I suggest you treat me with respect. Otherwise, you’ll get nothing."

With a slap, a guard slammed his palm on the table.

"You slaughtered a family of five and still show no remorse, and you’re so arrogant. Are you even human?" the guard raged.

"Can’t you tell if I’m human?" Fang Yi replied. "I think you’d better ask your chief about that. He should have an answer."

"Damn it!"

The other guard stood up, suddenly approached Fang Yi, and swung a fist at him.

Bang!

Fang Yi took the punch squarely on his face. He didn’t dodge, though he could have easily avoided it if he had wanted to. But he chose not to, taking the punch head-on.

But to Fang Yi, it was as negligible as a scratch. Instead, he smiled and said, "Feels good."

"You’re sick!"

Unable to contain himself, the guard threw several more punches which Fang Yi still didn’t dodge. Despite taking a few solid blows, there wasn’t a single trace of blood on the corner of his mouth.

Fang Yi was at the Earth Level fifth stage, naturally possessing a sturdy physique. The punches from an ordinary guard were insignificant to him.

Seeing that Fang Yi was unfazed, the guard felt provoked. His face twisted viciously, intending to continue, the other guard gestured for him to stop.

The guard who had stopped the assault stood up, saying, "It seems we can’t get anything out of you, but your silence is as good as an admission of guilt. Given your circumstances, we will send you to prison."

It wasn’t a detention center but a prison. Fang Yi sensed the implied threat but he smiled carelessly, indicating indifference.

...

Longtu Group.

Upon hearing Xia Ziqi’s account, emotion finally stirred on Shen Binnan’s icy, unchanging face.

"That guy... Did he really get captured on purpose?" Shen Binnan asked with uncertainty.

"Yeah, he told me the family was killed by an assassin, then moved to his home to frame him," Xia Ziqi said quickly. "By the way, he wants you to contact someone named Lin Shang, tell him the whole story, and not to worry about anything else."

"Not worry?" Shen Binnan suddenly laughed coldly. "What a self-serving jerk. After such a big incident, he still doesn’t want me to worry. Does he look down on me?"

Shen Binnan was extremely annoyed. Xia Ziqi hesitated for a moment, then said, "It’s not just you who is worried about him; I’m worried too."

Shen Binnan was startled, then shook her head and said, "Ziqi, just forget it. There’s nothing you can do."

"No!" Xia Ziqi shook her head this time. "Even if I’m powerless and lack influence, I’ll do everything I can, everything within my power."

Moved by her words, Shen Binnan looked at the woman before her. "Do you love him?"

Xia Ziqi returned the question, "Don’t you?"

Shen Binnan was silent for a moment before saying, "But you should know that in today’s society, only one woman is allowed to stay by his side. What you’re giving might not be worth it."

Xia Ziqi showed no sadness; instead, a carefree smile spread across her face. "He gave me a new life. Even if I can’t stay by his side in the end, I have no regrets. What I’ve given can’t be measured by money."

Shen Binnan murmured in a low voice, "Giving... can’t be measured by money. So what can it be measured by?"

...

There was plain rice wine in the gourd. Song Hongye tilted her head back and gulped it all down in one go, showing a heroic woman’s resolve.

Standing atop a tall building, Song Hongye turned her head and asked, "So Fang Yi was really caught and thrown into jail?"

"Yes," Song Duan said coolly. "And for killing a family of five, he’s been charged with a terrorist act. If nothing unexpected happens, Fang Yi might face the death penalty."

"Death penalty?" Song Hongye scoffed and said, "I refuse to believe he would do such a thing. It must be a trap set by that newcomer to Moon City, Lin Shang. What I can’t figure out is, it’s a ploy so transparent anyone could see through it. How did he just jump in?"

Song Duan fell silent for a moment before replying, "Perhaps he wanted to enter the trap and then break it from within."

Song Hongye expressed her hesitation, "If that’s the case, his ambition is terrifying. To dare take such a risk on his own, he might end up facing a firing squad."

Song Duan said, "But if he wins, it’ll be a victory that decides everything."

Song Hongye said, "Hmm, that’s why this man is even more incomprehensible to me... Ah, Song Duan, later go to the Guard Department and see if you can meet him. Also, make our position clear; it’s better to send charcoal in snowy weather than to add flowers on brocade."

Song Duan bowed slightly, "Understood."

...

Prison is a place many criminals hope to never end up in because once you step inside, you fall into an abyss of corruption. However, for Fang Yi, there was no difference between being in prison or in a detention center.

With Fang Yi’s current situation, he hadn’t been sentenced by the court yet, so he couldn’t be sent to prison. At most, he would be held in a detention center. But for Liu Yuanguang, proving Fang Yi’s guilt conclusively was challenging and time-consuming.

Yet, it was imperative for Liu Yuanguang to pin down Fang Yi as soon as possible, which was why Fang Yi had been sent to prison, an act that overstepped legal boundaries.

This showed how desperately Liu Yuanguang wanted to bring Fang Yi down.

Fang Yi received a set of prison clothes along with soap, a toothbrush, and other necessities. After changing into the prison uniform, he followed a guard to a cell door.

This cell was a medium-sized one. From the outside, it looked like it held about a dozen people. When Fang Yi arrived at the cell door with the guard, the inmates inside glanced over at him, though most were indifferent.

The cell was opened, Fang Yi entered with his towel and toothbrush, and then, with a loud clang, the cell door closed and locked behind him. The guard left, and Fang Yi, under the gaze of the inmates, made his way to the only vacant spot in the cell.

Just as Fang Yi took his first steps, a man jumped out and blocked his path.

"Kid, you’re new here, huh? What did you do?" The man asked condescendingly, looking down at him.

Fang Yi smiled and said, "Oh, it’s nothing big. Just got in a fight and accidentally crippled someone’s hands."

The man uttered, "Oh," and went on, "Seems like you have some skills. But we have rules here. You’re new, so you need to follow our rules. Otherwise, it doesn’t matter who you crippled outside; in here, you’re the one who’ll be crippled by us."

As soon as the man finished speaking, Fang Yi noticed the other inmates looking over, their eyes suggesting he was a lamb to the slaughter.

Suddenly, Fang Yi laughed and abruptly threw a punch at the man’s chest.
