Chapter 295: Chapter 316: If it hasn’t fallen!
"Pulling this trick again?" Fang Yi really wanted to say, "Aren’t you tired of it? Because I sure am."
With her slightly pointed, white jade chin lifted, Shen Binnan’s pride was evident.
Fang Yi randomly said, "Some secrets should not be revealed; you wouldn’t understand even if I told you."
That really annoyed Shen Binnan. Xu He, standing beside her, quickly grabbed Binnan and laughed, "Binnan told me her bodyguard is always slick with words. Seeing you today, I see it isn’t an exaggeration at all."
"It’s always been a misunderstanding by the public," said Fang Yi, "In reality, I’m a very kind person."
Xu He laughed, "I can see that, or Binnan wouldn’t have made you her personal bodyguard. After all, she has never been this close to any guy before..."
"Xu He!" Seeing that Xu He couldn’t stop talking, Shen Binnan quickly called her name.
Xu He smiled slightly and picked the perfect moment to shut up.
But Fang Yi caught a detail and looked at the two standing together, "You two are classmates, aren’t you?"
Xu He looked at Shen Binnan as if asking for confirmation. After a moment, Binnan nodded and then Xu He smiled at Fang Yi, "You’re really smart. How did you guess? Binnan and I were indeed classmates and studied together in college for four years."
Best friends, best friends, best friends! Fang Yi’s inner gossip fire suddenly surged.
Shen Binnan had always been cold and distant, and now that Fang Yi had discovered her best friend, he felt compelled, with his shamelessness, to dig up some explosive past, otherwise, he would be too passive in handling interactions with Shen Binnan.
A sleazy thought flashed through Fang Yi’s mind and suddenly, with a smile, he said, "Could you... give me your phone number?"
Xu He was startled.
Seeing this, Shen Binnan hurriedly said, "Don’t give it to him!"
Xu He laughed, "It’s all right, it’s just making a new friend. Come on, give me your phone and I’ll save it in your contacts."
Fang Yi quickly pulled out his counterfeit phone, unlocked it, and suddenly saw a name on the music interface, a singer’s name behind a song title. In that instant, looking at Xu He in front of him, Fang Yi said, "Are you that famous singing star?"
Fang Yi wasn’t concerned with the celebrity scene, and the songs on his phone were randomly downloaded from a shady internet café without much attention to the artists’ names, but by chance, he finally recalled this name.
Xu He’s expression turned slightly gloomy, "Yes... yes, I am."
Fang Yi quickly said, "Sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean to."
Xu He smiled slightly, "It’s okay, as long as you don’t treat me like a big star and just a normal person, it’s fine."
Fang Yi nodded.
Xu He took Fang Yi’s counterfeit phone, dialed her number with it, saved it, and then handed the phone back to Fang Yi.
At that moment, Shen Binnan handed her bag to Fang Yi, "Here."
Fang Yi raised an eyebrow, "What’s this for?"
"I’m going to wash my hair," Shen Binnan said.
"Sure, you’re the boss," Fang Yi took the bag and slung it over his shoulder.
Then Shen Binnan wanted to pull Xu He along, but Xu He said, "Binnan, you go ahead. I’d like to have a nice chat with your bodyguard; he’s quite interesting."
Shen Binnan nodded, but before leaving, she gave Fang Yi a warning glare, reminding him to be mindful, and then left.
"Fang Yi, shall we sit over there?" Xu He asked.
"Sitting with a beauty like you would be my honor," Fang Yi smiled.
The two sat at a table, Xu He ordered a lemon tea from the waiter, took a few sips in a manner that was far from elegant, rather, it seemed quite at ease.
Xu He sat with crossed legs, her slender waist upright, dressed in a simple white dress, fresh and elegant like a newly bloomed lotus.
"Miss Xu," Fang Yi tried to start a conversation.
"You don’t have to call me Miss Xu. You’re Binnan’s bodyguard; you can call me Xu Xu or He He," Xu He said with a smile.
"Then I’ll still call you Xu He."
Although Fang Yi had thick skin, he wasn’t shameless.
Xu He nodded, then blinked her dark eyes gently, saying, "Don’t worry about what just happened."
Fang Yi was taken aback.
"Even though I’m a celebrity, I hope you don’t treat me as one. Being a celebrity is just a job for me," Xu He said.
Fang Yi nodded, saying, "I understand."
For most women, being a celebrity was like having a privilege, feeling a sense of superiority. In the entertainment circle, these women mostly looked down on others, thinking they were the queens of the world.
But Xu He was different, obviously. She didn’t want people to distance themselves from her because she was a celebrity.
Indeed, that was the case. Since becoming a celebrity, relationships with her old classmates, friends, and even relatives had soured, making Xu He feel as if a hand were choking her. As her fame grew, so did her feeling of suffocation.
Only Shen Binnan was her true friend. Previously, Xu He had become curious about this man, Fang Yi, after hearing Shen Binnan speak of him. That’s why she wanted Fang Yi to treat her as an ordinary person.
And clearly, Fang Yi understood. Xu He’s situation was much like Shen Binnan’s—high status but under tremendous pressure.
Seeing Fang Yi’s understanding, Xu He genuinely smiled.
Meanwhile, a middle-aged man arrived in the hall, then locked his eyes on Fang Yi and headed straight for him.
The middle-aged man restrained his aura, but Fang Yi’s instinct and intuition picked it up. Just as Fang Yi turned his head, the middle-aged man charged toward him, kicking at the glass table between Fang Yi and Xu He.
"Watch out!"
Fang Yi’s face hardened as he instantly counterattacked to avoid involving Xu He.
A gleam flashed in the middle-aged man’s eyes, and he sneered, "Good timing!"
With a sudden punch, the middle-aged man swung at Fang Yi.
Fang Yi’s expression turned stern, and he grew angry. A surge of rage rushed to his forehead. Undeterred, Fang Yi hurled his fist straight back.
In an instant, Fang Yi felt a strong force travel through his fist into his arm, throwing his internal breath into chaos, forcing him to step back two steps.
"Earth Level?!"
Fang Yi looked at the middle-aged man.
Bai Qifeng gave a cold smile, "Kid, not bad. You managed to take one punch without falling, but you might not dodge the next one."
Fang Yi said, "I don’t seem to have any grudge against you."
"You and I have no personal grudge," Bai Qifeng replied, "but you hit my nephew, and now we have a grudge."
Fang Yi’s eyes flickered, then he sneered, "So, the elder comes because the younger was defeated. Don’t you think it’s shameless to bully the weak?"
"My fist is bigger than yours, that’s enough," Bai Qifeng responded indifferently.
Fang Yi laughed, then gathered his energy and shouted loudly,
"I’ll stand right here. If I fall, I’ll call you ’dad.’ If I don’t, I’ll be your ’dad!’"
A cold, sinister look suddenly appeared in Bai Qifeng’s eyes, his murderous intent chilling and daunting.
