Chapter 235: Chapter 245: The Secret Passage

A fire had started?

Fang Yi immediately looked over, his pupils contracting.

The fire roared into the sky, and even in the darkness, the black smoke was clearly visible.

"They want to destroy the evidence," Cai Qin declared.

No need for her to say, Fang Yi had already pressed down on the clutch, shifted the gear, and said, "Hold tight." The next moment, he stepped hard on the accelerator.

With that step, the accelerator was pushed to the floor.

Then, the sedan began speeding through the Xiaoshan villa area.

There were street lights in the villa area, the roads were clean and neat, and there were signs, but Fang Yi said nothing when they reached a turn, instead directly driving the sedan towards the front yard of a villa.

The yard was surrounded by white picket fences, but under the impact of the sedan, they broke open like brittle, decayed wood, and then the four wheels tore across the green lawn, leaving deep tire marks.

"This is bad..." Cai Qin covered her face and sighed, the cost of damages would be far beyond their budget.

But Fang Yi didn’t care about those things; right now, he needed to get there as fast as possible.

They sped past that front yard, then onto another, the sedan charging forward like a Humvee.

Continuing like this, the sedan would eventually be wrecked.

But if it’s wrecked, then so be it—it’s just a car, after all, they could always buy another one.

The shortest distance is often a straight line; after crossing three yards, they finally reached the place where the fire was burning, the so-called Villa No. 10.

As soon as Fang Yi and the others arrived, they saw many people attempting to sneak out.

"Song Zhe, immediately have your people stop them, don’t let anyone get away!" After speaking, Fang Yi opened the car door and rushed out, and Cai Qin did the same.

At the same time, Song Wuliang and others arrived; getting out of the car, Song Wuliang retched twice, while Li Xue, calm as ever, quickly rushed forward and angrily said, "Damn! They are trying to destroy the evidence!"

Fang Yi said, "Whether they are trying to destroy evidence or not, first find the people." After that, he glanced at the raging fire, his eyebrows raised, and added, "There’s something wrong with this fire."

Everyone was momentarily stunned, "What’s wrong?"

"This fire only consumed the upper part, it didn’t reach the lower part; the basement is still intact! Right, the map, I need a map!"

"Here! I have one in my car!" Li Xue called out and retrieved a map from inside the car.

It was a rough map of Moon City, marked with districts, counties, and towns. Fang Yi quickly located the Xiaoshan villa area on the map, then found the exact location of Villa No. 10, and not far from there was a river that connected to the sea at a junction.

Not only Fang Yi was looking; Cai Qin was also observing. She exclaimed, "Not good, they plan to escape through that river."

Fang Yi immediately handed the map back to Li Xue and instructed, "Li Xue, take charge here and command those guards to control the situation; Song Wuliang, coordinate with Li Xue’s actions. If anyone else comes to ask you to leave, I hope you two can hold your ground."

After speaking, Fang Yi turned to Cai Qin.

Cai Qin said, "I’ll go in with you, I’m quite skilled myself."

Fang Yi had already considered this; after all, Cai Qin was a Dragon Team agent and had handled many such situations before, so it wasn’t a problem.

As for Song Zhe... Fang Yi glanced at him and said, "Redeem your faults through merit; if you do well this time, it could be favorable for you in the military."

By now, Song Zhe had completely lost his earlier temper; he had been slapped by Fang Yi, cornered by blackmail, and brought this far. There was no choice but to board this ’ship of thieves’.

"I understand," Song Zhe replied.

Afterward, Fang Yi and Cai Qin charged into the villa.

Starting a fire in a villa actually wouldn’t burn it down severely. Besides the furniture inside, the brick walls outside were hard to ignite.

But to enter the basement, they must first get inside; Fang Yi took off the shirt he was wearing, tore it in half, asked Cai Qin to wet it, and then covered their noses as they rushed in.

Inside, the villa was ablaze, dense smoke filling the air.

Usually in fires, it’s not the flames that kill people but the smoke that suffocates them.

However, Fang Yi and Cai Qin had both experienced such scenes before, and they adeptly searched for the basement entrance soon after entering the villa.

Yet the difficulty lay in finding the basement entrance in a villa filled with flames. After a struggle, Cai Qin finally made a discovery under the staircase and pulled open a small door, revealing the entrance.

The two exchanged a glance, then Fang Yi led the way into the basement. He couldn’t possibly let Cai Qin, a woman, lead during the rush.

The basement was pitch dark and when the basement door opened, smoke began to seep in.

Fang Yi was accustomed to darkness; in the dark, he moved like a wolf with deep, piercing eyes, making no hesitations as he headed straight down the stairs.

Only inside the basement did they finally see a spacious area almost the size of one or two basketball courts, decked in opulent luxury.

"These people really know how to enjoy themselves."

Fang Yi spat out disdainfully and looked at Cai Qin, noticing her face was flushed red, "Why is your face so red?"

Cai Qin glared at him and said, "The smoke did this."

Fang Yi nodded and asked no further.

The entire basement was empty except for the items Fang Yi had noticed earlier; not a single person was there.

"They retreated too quickly," Cai Qin said.

Fang Yi began to walk around the basement, finally stopping at a mahogany cabinet. He tried to lift it; it was surprisingly heavy.

Cai Qin approached and said, "Don’t use brute force. I’ve seen this kind of mechanism before; if you try to move it by force, it will self-destruct." Saying this, she opened the cabinet door.

"I have a way, step aside," Cai Qin said.

Fang Yi stood up and stepped aside. Cai Qin took the spot where Fang Yi had stood, reaching behind the cabinet. It seemed she was searching for something and quickly found something. A click sounded, and the cabinet began to move.

Then, the wall on another side automatically opened, revealing a door.

"A secret passage!" Fang Yi’s eyebrows raised, he wound a whip around his arm, then took a candle, lit it, and led the way through the newly revealed door.

Beep, beep, beep!

(Sigh, I’m too embarrassed to even ask for rewards, just seeking some recommendations or anything like that, much appreciated!)
