Chapter 91: Chapter 66: Heat Flow

Late night.

A room in the inn illuminated with warm light.

Jeff sat at the desk, body upright, though his posture with the pen in his right hand seemed somewhat awkward.

A sheet of letter paper lay on the desk, with crooked handwriting.

Not very skillful,

but he wrote each stroke with particular care.

Because he was writing a letter to his family.

"Dear Daisy, the income from the caravan last month has been sent back, I wonder if you received it.

It’s perfectly normal for Jamie to have someone he likes, he’s at that age. When he has time, let him bring the girl home, and you can help assess her.

Lilina mentioned last time wanting me to bring some local specialty back. I asked many people in River Valley Town and couldn’t find anything suitable.

Finally, I bought an aromatic candle reportedly made from local plants at a shop called ’Green Grass Cauldron’. The friendly shopkeeper even gifted me two small bottles of perfume. It seems I should visit a couple more times in the future.

I’ve read the letter you sent last time.

I miss you a lot too, Daisy. But the caravan’s income is very important, and at least for now, I cannot stop. I hope you understand.

Your beloved husband,

Jeff."

Rumble—

A sudden thunderclap outside the window made this plain man, who shoulders family responsibilities, involuntarily shudder.

His gaze unconsciously shifted towards the window, seeing only an impenetrable darkness.

"At this age, still getting scared by thunder."

Jeff shook his head with a self-deprecating smile.

He neatly put away the letter paper and carefully tucked it into an envelope.

Then he got up and walked toward the bed.

He needed to get up early for market supplies tomorrow; there was much to do.

He should sleep early.

...

...

Xia Nan was not sure how his current physical fitness compared to that of fellow adventurers.

Because the Golden Finger panel could only display his own six dimensional Attributes in detail.

But presumably, his current Constitution, as high as 8, far exceeded that of ordinary people.

The manifestations were naturally not just excellent endurance, eating more, or being hard to get drunk.

Since he was teleported out of that suspected ’Secret Realm’ cave, he gradually sensed changes in his body during daily life.

For example:

Originally, he needed 8 to 9 hours of sleep daily to barely recover from the previous day’s exertion.

Now, Xia Nan only needed 6 hours of rest; he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow, and woke up the next day feeling energetic and completely at ease.

This was truly an ’adventurer’s sacred body’ in the wild, where shifts and night watches frequent.

Pefectly solved the problem of insufficient sleep.

But in town, it became somewhat of a burden needing change.

He couldn’t sleep too early.

If he followed the ordinary lifestyle of working at sunrise and resting at sunset, he’d wake up while it was still pitch dark outside when sleeping early.

Not convenient for doing anything.

Therefore, during his rest period in River Valley Town, Xia Nan formed a habit of finding a place to practice Battle Skills for a few hours before bedtime.

Now, in the first night in Kalanfor, the adventurers in the caravan were exceptionally excited and partied until late at night.

Xia Nan gave himself a break, sitting at the table, absorbing useful and credible parts from the adventurers’ various topics, memorizing them firmly.

He only slept when snores rose and fell in the neighboring rooms deep into the night.

"Hmm..."

The room was silent, the only sound in the air was the white noise of raindrops hitting the window.

Lying in bed, Xia Nan stretched lazily as usual.

Sitting up drowsily.

Suddenly paused.

"Isn’t it dawn yet?"

He glanced outside the window,

only to see darkness.

Unconsciously estimated the time based on his physical state.

It seemed to be the darkest time before dawn.

An odd feeling arose in his heart.

And as his mind gradually cleared, he noticed the heated air flow causing him to wake from his regular sleep.

"Huh?"

He looked towards the bedside cabinet.

There, the Beheading Longsword and Wooden Sword [Green Pine] were crossed together.

He vaguely guessed something in his heart.

Stepped forward, gently grasping the hilt of the Wooden Sword.

"Just as I thought!"

Xia Nan felt a warm, alert flow from the sword hilt in his palm.

He swiftly drew it!

The air around the blade condensed into countless tiny droplets due to the strong temperature difference.

From the outside, it seemed as if wisps of white mist wafted from the sheath as Xia Nan drew the sword.

He was instantly alert!

His brain rapidly processing information as it just woke from sleep.

The blue ’Rare’ quality Wooden Sword is, under normal circumstances, just a slightly sturdier ordinary One Handed Sword.

But when facing Undead Creatures and Snake-scorpion type enemies, it has a ’Flame Sun’ damage bonus of up to 15%-20%.

Xia Nan’s expression became stern.

He evidently realized something.

Recalling the incident the sheriff mentioned before bed.

He reacted instantly.

Simultaneously donning the Chain Armor placed beside his bed at top speed.

With his free hand, he struck the wall beside him as hard as possible to make a noise.

Warning the adventurers in the surrounding rooms:

"Something’s up, everyone get up!"

Faced with possible or already arrived danger,

Xia Nan did not choose to investigate alone.

His first instinct was to call for help.

Since being acquired, [Green Pine] had never behaved like this.

He wasn’t sure about the specifics of the situation.

But to be safe, having more people around was always better.

Waking up the adventurers and guards in the inn, even if it turned out to be a false alarm, might only earn him a few complaints.

Adventurers were used to being awakened by wildlife passing by while guarding camps in the wild.

And if some danger truly occurred, his actions could ensure his safety to the greatest extent.

The adventurers he awoke could also assist.

The fastest respondent was Alton from the neighboring room.

He wasn’t drunk either.

As Xia Nan geared up, wielding the Wooden Sword, the small-statured half orc, fully armed and carrying his exquisite lute, dashed into the room.

"What’s the situation?"

Alton’s eyes quickly scanned the room.

"No time to explain, follow me!"

The situation was urgent, the Wooden Sword in his hand growing hotter, leaving Xia Nan with no time for explanations as he briskly headed towards the door.

The half orc, though puzzled, instinctively trusted this new friend of his.

The two almost simultaneously raced out of the room.
