At this moment, Xia Nan felt as if he had returned to the night before he transmigrated.
Under the overwhelming force, his toes left the ground, and his body was tossed high like a doll in a child’s hand;
The intense pain coming from his back disappeared from his perception because it exceeded the limits of what the human body can endure, replaced by gradually blurring consciousness;
Seeing stars, his internal organs felt as if they had all shifted places, and the dense, lush shrubbery before him seemed to turn into that loudly honking truck and the truck driver with the red-flushed face reeking of alcohol.
“Pff!”
His lips parted and closed, bright red blood spewing from his mouth, and the bloody scent filled his nostrils, snapping him back to reality.
Covered in grass clippings and broken leaves, his body spun and fell to the ground like a ragged sack.
The intense pain, after a moment of pause, engulfed Xia Nan’s body and mind like a tide.
He couldn’t determine the specifics of his current injuries, but undoubtedly, the unbearable pain that combined dizziness, stabbing, burning, and numbness from head to toe had completely deprived him of the ability to fight.
“Damn!
Damn!
Damn!
Damn!”
The dire situation instinctively made Xia Nan curse in his heart.
Remembering the Healing Potion in the small pouch at his waist, his arm lay powerless on the meadow.
The gray-white petrification at his fingertips spread visibly as his condition deteriorated.
In one breath, it had already reached the first knuckle.
Boom——
The heavy footsteps echoed in the thicket outside his view.
The massive figure of the Petrified Lizard cast a shadow over Xia Nan on the ground.
“Am I going to die?”
In this instant, after the panic and anger, his heart felt unusually calm.
Flashes of images appeared before his eyes: the rusty nail embedded in the skull of the Dwarf Elki, Gag’s ankles held upside-down by the Bear Goblins, and the broken Wooden Bow in Magi’s arms.
Even though he never seriously thought about the ultimate fate of his “transmigrator” journey, witnessing the end faced by the Stinky Fish and Shrimp Group, deep down, it seemed he was already subconsciously prepared to face any outcome.
“Swoosh!”
The shrill wail of tearing air suddenly sounded from the treetop not far beside him.
The sharp arrowhead gleamed coldly, stirring up a mist.
The signature white-feathered arrow of the Half Elf trembled and rotated at high speed, appearing as nothing more than a phantom to the naked eye, shooting straight toward the Petrified Lizard.
“Ding!”
The accuracy was lacking.
Whether intentionally or unintentionally, the Wooden Arrow didn’t aim for the lizard’s eyes but landed on its side, striking its heavy gray-green scales that resembled rock.
Sparks flew, and the coarse, solid defense comparable to steel effortlessly blocked the arrowhead from penetrating the flesh.
Leaving only a faint white scratch.
Yet, precisely because of this, the Petrified Lizard’s focus temporarily shifted from Xia Nan.
The neck, built of muscles and Stone Armor, slowly turned as the Petrified Lizard looked toward the direction from which the Wooden Arrow came, a faint glow in its deep green eyes releasing its “Petrification Gaze” invisibly.
And just at that moment, within the blind spot beyond the Petrified Lizard’s sight, a palm-sized brown pot was suddenly thrown.
“Bang!”
It hit right on the Petrified Lizard’s snout.
The thick, dark oil and murky dust needed only a single spark to instantly explode and ignite like a small bomb.
Roooaarrr——
Within a fraction of a second, flames engulfed the Petrified Lizard’s head.
Pained howls echoed through the forest.
Xia Nan certainly wouldn’t waste his teammates’ risky efforts to come to his aid.
Even though his body was heavily injured from the Petrified Lizard’s attack.
Yet, the sudden calm that appeared when facing death allowed him to regain his ability to think and react.
Almost the moment the sound of the Half Elf’s Wooden Arrow tearing through the air reached his ears.
Xia Nan mustered immense willpower, gritting his teeth, enduring the unending pain through his body, and forced his already twisted arm to move.
Tremblingly, he retrieved the glowing Healing Potion from his waist pouch.
Clenched the cork with his teeth.
And poured it in.
Downed half of it in one go.
The liquid was cool, slightly sweet, with a refreshing aroma.
As it flowed down his esophagus into his stomach, it transformed into warm currents, driving his blood to circulate throughout his body.
As if bathed in a hot spring out of thin air, the pain throughout his body eased within a few breaths.
