Goblin Dependency
Chapter 122 - 87: Shock

Chapter 122: Chapter 87: Shock

The next day, before dawn.

Xia Nan was fully armed, standing energetically at the entrance of the White Sparrow Tavern.

——The enhanced Constitution allowed him to restore both body and mind to perfect condition even with just a few hours of sleep.

The only thing that made him feel somewhat uneasy was that, although there were no deficiencies in weapons and Equipment,

the incident happened so suddenly that there was no time to prepare extra supply Tools.

The time was still Midsummer Night, and the shops on the street had closed early, with nowhere to make purchases.

In the end, he used leftover pieces from previous tasks as supplies, and spent money to buy some portable and long-lasting food from the tavern owner, "Chapton," to complete his pre-departure preparation.

"Tap, tap."

Solemn and clean footsteps sounded from behind.

Xia Nan suddenly felt a chill in the air.

His gaze went forward.

At the end of the street, illuminated by the gradually rising sun, under the interweaving splendid dawn and gentle morning light,

a bulky figure wrapped in cold wind slowly walked out of the gradually dissolving night.

High-arched eyebrows cast shadows, the eyes resembling two flickering blue flames.

Glanced at Xia Nan, who was already prepared on the roadside.

Slightly nodded imperceptibly.

Without speaking, he just silently headed toward the town’s exit.

Xia Nan tightened the heavy backpack behind him and hurried to keep up.

His expression, however, showed a hint of peculiarity.

Normally, as a reasonably prepared adventurer, he would prepare two to three times the supplies based on the duration of the journey before setting out on a mission.

Even though the barbarian "Frogon" didn’t reveal the exact number of days, considering that his stopover at River Valley Town was temporary, even if he was to teach him Battle Skills, he shouldn’t stay long.

Therefore, Xia Nan tried to prepare enough supplies for seven days of survival in the wild without affecting mobility.

Conservatively used, it could even last over a dozen days.

In contrast, Frogon seemed particularly light.

Not to mention a heavy burlap bag like his own, the barbarian in front of him was only sporting a few small animal skin pouches, barely considered storage items.

Whether he possessed some sort of storage-type Magic Items or was simply accustomed to this, was unknown.

Considering his barbarian race identity and the impression he left the night before,

Xia Nan leaned towards the latter.

...

The two walked silently through the streets of River Valley Town, one in front and one behind.

The sky brightened further, and the buildings on both sides of the road gradually thinned out.

The familiar street scenes gave Xia Nan an idea.

Their destination should be the Mist Forest.

While still within human settlements, there was no need to be as cautious as in the forest, constantly on guard against surrounding dangers.

His thoughts slightly scattered.

Thinking back, his choice of Battle Skills last night had many oversights.

Many days ago, during a mission, Wood mentioned to him.

Obtaining a Professional Level is not simply about mastering three types of Battle Skills and raising the Skill Level of one to "Master" (lv5).

All three Battle Skills must belong to the same class category to complete the promotion.

Otherwise, it would be a failure.

Or, with an almost impossible probability, assume some niche, rare profession.

Currently, he was unaware of which profession category his lv5 [Vortex Slash] belonged to.

If he rashly chose Battle Skills from other promotional paths,

it would entirely waste this precious opportunity.

Perhaps... should find an opportunity to ask?

Thinking so,

the barbarian "Frogon" in front seemed to sense his thoughts.

Still that heavily accented, indistinct voice:

"I heard from Hai’an that you mastered one Battle Skill."

Heart stirring, Xia Nan hurriedly picked up the topic.

"Yes, but I’m unclear about its specific category, I only heard it possibly comes from [warrior] or [Paladin]."

Then, silence.

The barbarian showed no intention of replying, just kept walking.

Their conversation abruptly ended.

Mouthed silently.

Gazing at the strong figure in front, clad in wolf skin, Xia Nan felt somewhat gloomy.

...

...

The Mist Forest,

was not unfamiliar to Xia Nan, who had completed two missions there.

But this time, following behind the barbarian felt unforgettable, even slightly shocking.

It was as if the final destination had already been decided before entering the forest.

The barbarian Frogon adhered to the principle that "the straight line between two points is the shortest," leading Xia Nan, almost recklessly charging through.

The annoying thorns that previously required much effort to cut through,

did not even need the obsidian hatchet hanging at his waist.

Just a body slam, like waves crashing against shore rocks, they were mercilessly shattered by the barbarian.

Unconcerned about potential dangers hidden in the forest.

Frogon did not conceal the sounds made during the journey; his speed was much faster than before in town.

Although seemingly just an ordinary fast walk, Xia Nan had to trot to keep up.

In such a state, not to mention Demons,

not a single annoying venomous snake and scorpion, usually lurking in the bushes, was seen.

The dangerous aura on the barbarian comparable to a top food chain predator acted as a natural "insect repellent" for animals with sharp Perception for outdoor life.

Like a lamp emitting light in the dark, merely the parts of the wolf body exposed under its light were enough to deter those tiny creatures too weak to be considered prey.

In the outer regions of the Mist Forest, a high-level Professional like Frogon was, to some extent, possibly less dangerous than in River Valley Town.

After all, in the latter, sitting in any tavern where adventurers gathered, you might even encounter a few drunk, frenzied Professionals.

Xia Nan closely followed the footsteps of the other, observing this graveyard for countless low-level adventurers from a brand new perspective.

Suddenly, for some unknown reason,

the aura on the barbarian in front suddenly dropped.

Even the previously strong presence weakened considerably.

Feeling puzzled, but since the other did not offer an explanation, he remained silent and continued following.

After about another twenty minutes,

as Frogon’s steps gradually slowed, a cave on a small forest hillside came into view before Xia Nan.

The thread of stench in the air, and the simple and somehow familiar style of the dirt and stone cave.

With just one look, he recognized the ownership of this lair.

"Goblin?"
