Chapter 109: Chapter 80: Bathed in Light (Two in One) _3
He looked up, winking at him as if joking.
"Don’t worry, even if I feel a little down, I can always head to the casino again."
The Half-orc’s wild demeanor at the card table flashed before his eyes.
Xia Nan couldn’t help but click his tongue.
He subconsciously considered whether his savings of over a hundred Gold Coins was enough for a few rounds at the tavern.
"Alright!" The Half-orc bit off the bandage with his teeth, stood up, put his hands on his hips, and nodded with satisfaction at the bandage already wrapped around Xia Nan’s wound.
He smiled proudly, shaking a small bottle in his hand at the other.
"Luckily, I took the burn ointment Aunt Mary insisted I bring; it’s really come in handy now."
Before Xia Nan could reply, the surrounding flames seemed to remind him of something suddenly.
The previously smug expression changed suddenly, and he shouted in surprise:
"My lute!"
He then hurriedly turned around and ran in the direction they had come from.
He gently touched the bandage, feeling the cool sensation beneath it.
Xia Nan’s eyes fell into contemplation.
With Alton’s assistance, the damage-immune effect triggered by [Copper Bones] saved him from what would have been a seriously injurious blow.
Otherwise, with the force Ingram used, he might have been gravely injured if not dead, and drinking Healing Potions would have only offered minimal relief.
Now, only having to endure the Holy Light’s damage, his wounds were undoubtedly much lighter.
With his Constitution, plus the Half-orc’s burn ointment, he should recover in about ten days.
Supporting himself with his right hand, Xia Nan clutched his wound and struggled to stand up.
He put back on the still hot Chain Armor, and looked down at the various burn marks on the armor’s surface.
"50 Gold..."
He muttered in his mind, visibly pained.
"I wonder if it can be repaired at the Rock Hammer Store, or maybe I’ll have to buy a new set."
Then he drew the Wooden Sword [Green Pine] from his back, hacked at the Skeleton shaking violently with Undead aura inside the center of the forest Array, chopping it to pieces.
He used his foot to completely destroy the engraved lines on the ground.
Not until the shattered skeleton no longer stirred did he breathe a slight sigh of relief.
In his current state, he couldn’t handle another intense battle.
He turned around, returning to the place where the fight ended.
Enduring the stabbing pain from his abdominal wound, he exerted his arms to pull the Beheading Longsword from the tree trunk.
His gaze briefly assessed the sword’s surface, seeing no obvious cracks, he then sheathed the sword.
In front of him, the sheriff pinned to the tree by the sword was facedown in the dirt.
Motionless, clearly dead.
Xia Nan crouched down, turned the body over, then stripped off the Light Plate Armor.
Hmm... there were a few obvious scratches on its surface, but it was still usable.
Although it was the standard armor issued to the sheriff, the style wasn’t particularly distinct, making it hard to identify him solely by the Equipment.
He would take it back to lay low for a while, and then bring out the armor after some time, which should be fine.
To be safe, maybe he should have the blacksmith modify the armor’s appearance.
That One handed Hammer was a pity, though.
The burst of Holy Light had nearly melted the entire head, leaving just a bare handle.
Not worth anything.
Undeterred, Xia Nan carefully searched the corpse with both hands, seeking potential loot.
Unfortunately, apart from a pouch containing 12 Gold, 6 silver, and 2 copper Coins, he found nothing else.
As expected, not even he would carry most of his Gold Coins; they’re all stored in a bank.
And it’s not like he’s some Spellcasters wielding Class Magic; an ordinary sheriff in a frontier town, even with the Church’s backing, certainly couldn’t afford Storage type Magic Items.
Of course, he wouldn’t carry his entire wealth with him.
Footsteps came to his ears.
"Thank goodness, it didn’t get burnt."
The Half-orc’s face bore a slightly relieved grin, holding his lute with one broken string in his arms.
"How about you? Did you get any good finds?"
"Just these," Xia Nan showed him the armor plate and pouch, shrugging as he responded.
"I told you, luck always evens out!"
"By the way!"
Alton slung the lute back over his shoulder, his gaze shifting to Xia Nan before him.
"You’ll still be staying in River Valley Town later, right?"
Xia Nan nodded in puzzlement.
"Then we probably won’t see each other for a long time." The Half-orc shook his head lightly, right hand grabbed something from his pouch, tossing it over.
"A farewell gift!"
Xia Nan caught it; his palm felt an icy firmness.
He looked at it.
In his view, it was a Brass Coin engraved with the blurred face of a goddess.
"You..." He looked up suddenly, only to see the Half-orc pull out another identical Coin from who knows where.
Tossing it up and down in his hand.
"Luck favors the brave," Alton beamed with a bright smile, the coin flickering in his fingertip, reflecting the light, "The lady told me that herself."
Instinctively, Xia Nan looked down, eyes fixed on the Coin in his hand.
Suddenly,
unexpectedly, a string of semi-transparent characters floated into his view.
Most striking of all, words he had never seen before but which brought his breath to an instantaneous halt:
