Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Ganier, Who Voluntarily Became an Undead
Fang Jie opened the territory panel and then looked at the talents of the territory.
Swamp Village (Undead): Glory of the Wetlands: Movement speed increased by 10% within swamp terrain.
"The speed increase in the swamp seems like it can only be used in this particular type of terrain," Fang Jie shook his head. It would only be somewhat useful if the local garrison hung onto this advantage.
But now, Fang Jie was no longer satisfied with the special bonuses from other territories. After all, in his main territory, the bonuses from the Cold Wind Girl Statue might be stronger than these.
However, the statue’s bonuses differed from the territory bonuses because if too far away, the effect could diminish or even disappear. This battle, because of the distance, the enhancement had reduced quite a bit.
"Forget it, let it hang on to this benefit anyway. At least movement in the swamp won’t be affected."
After trying it out, Fang Jie discovered that it wasn’t just a simple speed boost.
Under this effect, it seemed his ordinary undead creatures could move swiftly over the swamp without being affected by the terrain. Otherwise, those skeletons would have sunk a long time ago.
This type of enhancement was really unscientific, but then, what was the point of building that road?
"Well, having a road is better than not having one, I guess."
Fang Jie could only comfort himself like this and then he began to look at the special buildings for this territory. Normal buildings were basically the same, but Fang Jie noticed that this territory had one additional special building.
Death Lizardman Pond (Black Iron) Level 5: A Lizardman troop building, capable of producing Death Lizardmen.
Death Lizardman Warrior Level 3: Rank (Apprentice)
Recruitment requirements: 2 units of Corpse Bones, 2 Spirit Points
Death Lizardman Warrior Level 5: Rank (Black Iron)
Recruitment requirements: 1 unit of Black Iron Corpse Bones, 12 Spirit Points
"It was probably a Lizardman Pond originally. After conversion, it became an Undead Camp building. Plus, here we can produce combat power of Black Iron units, which I hadn’t really noticed before."
In the battle late at night, how could Fang Jie pay attention to so much? Besides, with all warriors, a few of Black Iron rank, it was tough to notice. Perhaps his heroes had seen them and killed them in the fray.
When dealing with the corpses, he would know as there shouldn’t be too many.
"Let’s make one and see," Fang Jie thought it over and simply created one. Although this place couldn’t enjoy the benefits of Territory Fission, he could still turn it into four.
"Lord, we have found Ganier," suddenly, a Skeleton Hero came to report.
"Bring him here." Fang Jie hadn’t expected Ganier to still be alive; he had thought Ganier was already dead.
Before long, the skeletons carried over a large chest, inside which lay Ganier. However, at the moment, Ganier did not look so good, with many broken bones and chains binding him.
If he weren’t of a Bronze rank with strong life force, the torture would have killed a normal person long ago.
"These guys, really, I don’t know if they can adapt. Take these torture devices down for me."
The skeletons were good at many things but rather rigid in thought. Perhaps, in their eyes, this kind of injury could be completely ignored. But how could they ignore this in a Lizardman?
The intense pain woke Ganier, who coughed twice and looked at Fang Jie.
"You’ve come, I’m sorry, I couldn’t watch over them."
Fang Jie shook his head, "It’s unavoidable." Indeed, Fang Jie hadn’t expected this. However, he wasn’t very angry because he had resolved a trouble and gained quite a few benefits.
The original reasoning behind not dealing with the Lizardmen was because he had no way to develop and occupy the swamp area.
If it had been the troops from before, these Lizardmen would have caused real headaches, not to mention anything else, they would have certainly slowed down his progress.
"Lord, Ganier is dying; if this continues, he won’t last much longer."
Fang Jie nodded; of course, he knew. But unexpectedly, Ganier suddenly said, "I don’t know if I can continue to serve you. I think, I want to be converted into Undead."
A creature wishing to be transformed into Undead was indeed rare.
Although many older individuals chose this method to continue living, this was mostly seen in humans, a species with stronger desires. Lizardmen, categorized among Beastmen, rarely showed this.
"I still want to lead my people to survive."
Hearing this, Fang Jie nodded. Falling into darkness for the sake of his people, huh?
"Is there a way to convert?" Fang Jie looked towards Cosette. He himself had no way. Although he was an Undead Mage, having joined midway, all abilities and knowledge were forcibly instilled, and he had no idea how to convert undead.
If forcibly converted, this guy might become a regular skeleton even if successful.
"In his case, there is a way, since he is a leader, and I believe he has already reached the standards of a Hero Unit. By placing him in the Hero Training Tower, he could be converted, though his potential will be wasted."
"That’s not a problem, being a Bronze rank is enough to manage this territory."
Fang Jie felt it was fine. Cosette naturally did not dare say more. And for Ganier, being able to convert was already good; who could ask for potential? If dead, there would be nothing left.
"Dorola, give him some potion and then send him back."
Dorola nodded, immediately stepping forward to administer the Healing Potion. In an instant, Ganier looked much better, causing Fang Jie to marvel. Although he had always been selling potions, this was the first time he saw its actual effects.
Dorola left with Ganier, and Fang Jie began planning for this place.
"Here, build a Corpse Processing Plant; corpses are hard to transport. Once processed into materials, transport them in batches back to the main territory. Construct a Fortress upfront for a simple blockade and then consider building some defensive structures in the back."
"Once back, create a Death Lizardman Pond in the main territory, at least adding a Functional Building is beneficial."
Territory Upgrades required a certain number of Functional Buildings, and who knows, the requirement might increase in the future. Or rather, it definitely would, so increasing now was wise planning.
While Fang Jie was making plans, the Death Lizardman Warrior had been produced, but upon seeing it, Fang Jie frowned.
