Chapter 661: Chapter 661: The Demon Who Couldn’t Wait to Seek Death
Demons’ attacks on the Southern territories were incessant, occurring every moment of every day. Although the daily incursions were minor, those low-level demons feared not death; they didn’t even understand the concept of death.
Wherever they encountered living beings, uncontrolled, they would recklessly launch an attack.
However, unlike the Undead, these demons would flee if they realized they were no match for their opponents.
Before long, the demons would forget their previous encounters and attack once again. The greater their numbers, the bolder they became—such a strange species were these demon creatures.
To the North of Dragon Valley, demons constantly headed in this direction to attack, so news of occurrences here managed to reach the demon camp. It was less than three days since Fang Jie had captured Dragon Valley when a massive number of demons began moving South.
"These rascals have decent intelligence gathering—it’s a serious number of demons. But it looks like there aren’t many of high level," Fang Jie mused, looking over the report brought by the Shadow Elves.
Though these Shadow Elves weren’t particularly strong, they possessed excellent stealth capabilities.
With no powerful beings nearby, the demons were completely unaware they were under surveillance.
Hordes of demons from the North were heading South in the tens of millions. From a sheer numbers standpoint, one could not underestimate the demons. However, a closer look at the number of powerful beings among them revealed they were scarce.
Not a single one of Demigod Level had descended, and there appeared to be fewer than ten of Legendary Level.
It was as if these demons were oblivious to the strategy of concentrated force; they daringly surged forward with so few powerful beings. And those few Legendary beings were unable to control all the invading Demon Creatures.
"It’s also possible that they’re just probing. Or maybe the demon higher-ups couldn’t gather in large numbers, otherwise there would likely be some problems," Fang Jie speculated.
Regardless, since they had come, they would be met in battle.
Whether it was a probe or not didn’t matter; wiping them out cleanly would forestall the demonic assault on this territory for a while. If the attacks could be directed toward the two Empires instead, that would be even better.
"Dragon Valley enjoys a unique advantage; it is extremely difficult to strike from this position."
Fang Jie arrived at the Northern frontline ahead of time, a place that had now been cleared.
The nearby territory of the Dragon Clan Camp had already been developed, with a large number of Dragon Beast Species already in position. However, the upcoming battle would still primarily employ the Undead Troops.
"There are three valley mouths that can accommodate a massive influx of demons, and only a handful could come through the other positions. Just deploy some Flying troops for defense, and that will suffice."
Fang Jie assessed the map while referencing past Dragon Clan battle tactics.
This was not because the Dragon Clan had any documentation—these creatures stored all information in their minds.
After all, some younglings had been captured in previous victories. Some of the adult giant dragons and Dragon Beasts shared their experiences with the young, who then recorded them accurately.
Interrogating these younglings was straightforward; Fang Jie had effortlessly obtained some of their strategic layouts.
The three valleys of the Dragon Clan were, indeed, large enough to allow a massive number of creatures to pass through.
From the front, these three valleys appeared to be no different than mountains, merely lower than the surrounding ranges.
However, the terrain here was special due to the extremely hard rock that formed the ground.
In the center of the valleys were rock formations in various places, creating a vast and unique rock forest. In this terrain, the Dragon Clan had cast particular Enhancement Spells.
At a glance, these seemed like ordinary rocks, but they were not so easily destroyed.
At least for those of Legendary Level, breaking these pillars would prove a formidable challenge. And while a Demigod could do so, there were too many pillars for any of them to foolishly engage in such an act.
With that time, wouldn’t it be better to deal with the Dragon Clan?
Normally, powerful giant dragons would perch atop these pillars to attack from above. Whether with large-scale Spells or their Dragon Breath, they were always able to decimate demons en masse with the aid of these pillars.
But now, Fang Jie had not arranged for ordinary Dragon Beasts.
What Fang Jie positioned above were Poison Bone Flying Dragons. As long as they opened their Poisonous Domains, the effect would surpass anything else. With such a terrain to capitalize on, even more low-level demons couldn’t get through.
Only Gold-Level demons could withstand the pressure to advance.
This was due to the demons’ strong resistance to toxins. If it had been any other species charging in, even Gold-Level powerhouses would perish. A few Flying troops positioned in the air would maximize the effectiveness of the terrain.
A few days later, a massive number of demons began rushing towards this area.
Fang Jie looked to the sky, seeing many flying demons; their numbers were considerable, but their strength was lacking.
"For an army like this, Poison Bone Flying Dragons really are the best," Fang Jie concluded, waving his hand. The prepared troops took to the sky in no time. As if it were raining, masses of dark shapes dropped from above—a deluge that stretched as far as the eye could see.
On the ground, demons trampled over the corpses of their kin, reducing them to pulp.
Unless there were hungry demons that halted to take a few bites, they would simply move on. Such brutality and madness would likely make many people feel uneasy upon witnessing the scene.
Fortunately, their enemies were demons too, utterly indifferent to such scenes.
The battle continued as countless demons entered the stone forest region and were poisoned one after another.
"This won’t do. If the corpses pile up like this, we won’t keep up with disposal. What to do?" Fang Jie observed the growing mounds of corpses—there was no time to transport them. The demons continued their relentless assault, and if the bodies piled up like this, even the positioned Poison Bone Flying Dragons would be affected.
Destroying them wasn’t the issue, but such a waste of corpses felt somehow regrettable.
"Should we burn them like the Dragon Clan does?"
Fang Jie shook his head, "Forget it, that would be even more of a waste. Let’s just leave them be for now. We’ll handle this after the war ends. Even fragmented corpses can be used."
Fang Jie left the area, knowing soon the stench of blood would fill the air—a scent he did not relish. As for the demon corpses, the majority were robust enough not to deteriorate rapidly.
