Chapter 604: Chapter 604: The Yasi Continent and the Four Major Races

In the data room, Fang Jie was flipping through some materials. Indeed, such guilds internally have their own data rooms, but to enter, one needed to spend some Gold Coins.

Don’t ask where Fang Jie’s Gold Coins came from, if asked, they were obtained along the way through robbing the rich to aid the poor.

Anyway, with Fang Jie’s Strength, no one could discover the things he had done.

The data room contained mostly ordinary materials, meant to facilitate adventurers in completing their quests. As for some more confidential materials, they were not laid out in the open like this.

Next to it was a counter, where one would have to pay to get those materials.

Recorded here were all sorts of affairs big and small from within Mo Gu City. From significant policy disputes between major families to the trivial matters of every locale, even information about where gambling dens were established.

Of course, these were all outdated materials. If someone could analyze something from them, that would indeed be impressive.

"Are all these materials related only to the city? Do you have any that cover the entire world?"

"What do you need that kind of material for? If you want that, you should go to the library," the old man behind the counter said with a curious look at Fang Jie. No adventurer was as odd as Fang Jie.

Fang Jie nodded, realizing he had come to the wrong place.

Upon leaving the tavern, Fang Jie inquired around and then headed toward the library. As an important building of the city, it was almost akin to being deserted, for hardly anyone was inside.

But this place held the very things Fang Jie wanted: an overall introduction to the world’s recognition.

Such things were common knowledge to the big shots and useless to the little guys. After all, many people would never in their lifetimes step beyond their own town’s boundaries—who would care about how the entire continent was faring?

"So it turns out this is one united continent, the Yasi Continent, the entire world is just this, plus an endless ocean. There are some islands in the sea, but none are large, and there aren’t any powerful intelligent creatures in the sea."

Fang Jie read on slowly, coming to understand everything about this world.

This world was said to have many races fighting amongst each other at one time, unwilling to yield to each other. But from some point on, a few special races gradually grew and developed.

Among them, the most powerful were the Human and Beastman races. These two races, with their own racial characteristics, coupled with their powerful reproductive capabilities, gradually stood out from the weaker races.

Now, these two races mainly consider each other enemies, while the other smaller races either attach themselves beneath the two dominant races or are driven to the corner of the world, surviving solely based on luck.

The North is the domain of the ancient Elf Clan, but the Elves have gradually declined.

It’s not that they lacked strength; on the contrary, the Elves were very strong. It was their poor reproductive capabilities that were to blame.

During the wars of Ancient Times, none could stand against the Elves initially, but fortunately for others, they remained quiet, barely leaving their forests. It was only when other races invaded that they were forced into the conflicts.

As the wars raged, everyone witnessed the Elves’ might, but the Elves’ potential for war was continually being eroded.

Eventually, the Elf Clan kept withdrawing their strength until they reached their current state.

One could say the Elves became isolated from the world, hardly interacting with the outside. Continuous minor frictions happened along their borders, but no major wars had transpired. The world’s major battles typically erupted between Humans and Beastmen.

These two races were veritably warlike, never resting for long.

Next was the Southern region, which was in disarray. There were many races that had been driven there, some quite strong.

The farthest south was the more recently developed Undead Clan, regrettably a group despised by all other races. As soon as they emerged, they were attacked by everyone and could only shrink back into the Southern Swamp.

However, Fang Jie could infer something unusual about the Undead Clan from between the lines.

"Perhaps, the real reason for the continued existence of the Undead Clan is not because no one can invade the Great Swamp, nor is it because the Undead are inexhaustible, but because they are creating a fallback for themselves."

Fang Jie noticed that the Undead Clan subtly mentioned many individuals, seemingly a host of historical figures.

The battles of the Undead were usually about being repelled back, not about being killed outright, especially their upper echelons who have been through many battles but still managed to survive.

This certainly makes one wonder; perhaps many have willingly turned themselves into Undead.

Using this method to seek immortality, yet also remaining vigilant to not be eradicated by the other races. However, what exactly lay within the Undead, Fang Jie was not very clear.

Regardless, the four most powerful races in the world were these.

There seemed to be leaders within the Undead, but their commands were mostly ineffective. Those below acted independently, constantly fighting against each other as if solely to deplete each other’s numbers.

Fang Jie would need to see for himself to know for sure, and indeed, he had decided on his entry point in this world.

Not anything else, but the Undead Camp. He belonged to the Undead, so disguising himself as one of them was no issue. If he could unite the Undead’s Strength, even just for one initiative, it could threaten the entire continent.

In Fang Jie’s view, the true Strength of the Undead was likely no lesser than that of the Beastmen and Humans.

Perhaps, throughout the years, the Undead had also nurtured many Demigods, just never revealing them.

By stirring up this still water, what followed would let him fish in troubled waters. Yes, that was the plan.

After Fang Jie had made up his mind, he decided to rest here for a day, gather some more materials, and then head south. At the very least, he would need to get a map of the route to the south; he couldn’t just blindly make his way there.

It was unexpected that the very next day, Fang Jie received a quest from the tavern.

"An indiscriminate quest, to escort someone to the south in search of a certain herb, but to venture so deeply?"

Fang Jie saw that the destination was a Magic Beast’s Territory, but it was a bit too close to the Southern Swamp.

And being directly handed to him meant every adventurer had a copy. The most crucial aspect was that the reward for the quest was surprisingly generous.

Anyone who could make the delivery, regardless of who they were, would receive a substantial amount of bounty.

"The only ones capable of issuing such a quest must be the bigshots of this city, right? So are they heading south for the thing I’m thinking of? Well, I’m going there anyway; might as well accept the quest," Fang Jie thought to himself.
