Chapter 571: The Bullying Li Mingshu

Chapter 571: Chapter 571: The Bullying Li Mingshu

"Hahaha, we’ve got orders from above."

"What’s happening, Chief?" As Li Mingshu laughed heartily, the rest were anxiously gathered around. Although their statuses had changed, they still hadn’t changed how they addressed their leader.

Li Mingshu pointed upwards and said, "Didn’t we inquire earlier about whether we could occupy the Northern Grassland? Now the command has been given. Since this grassland doesn’t border the Black Flame Empire directly, we’re allowed to occupy it."

"That’s great, I’ve been wanting to kill them off, if it weren’t for the so-called big picture."

"I’m puzzled, why did we have to consider the big picture before and still do in All Heavens Hunting Ground, what exactly is the big picture?" These people cared only about waging war, hardly concerning themselves with anything else.

So there were many things they still couldn’t understand to this day.

Li Mingshu sighed, wasn’t this the very reason he had so many foreign officials under him?

If only they were willing to learn something, they wouldn’t have to let outsiders hold these official positions.

Everyone had their own way of management, and after he, Li Mingshu, became the proxy lord of this region, he naturally had his own methods. Those he trusted were only the soldiers who had come here with him.

Though after numerous battles, fewer than a thousand remained, and Fang Jie had taken some away. But those who remained still couldn’t be considered few.

It’s just a pity that these guys were simple-minded, really not having any talent for management.

"All right, all right, shut up. Let me tell you, the command from above says we can occupy, but not too quickly, meaning we have to do it bit by bit."

"No way, what’s the point in that? It’s dragging on too slowly."

"Yeah, can’t we suggest something to the Lord? It’s too easy for our strength to kill them off."

"You think I don’t want that? If the Lord orders so, there must be a reason, and we just need to follow it."

Li Mingshu himself didn’t understand the reason, as it was obvious they weren’t afraid of the opposition at the moment. But perhaps there was something he didn’t know, after all, he wasn’t in the highest echelon.

If they didn’t want to start a full-scale war with the two empires, then dilly-dallying wasn’t a problem, it was probably just that.

"Okay, now I’m assigning tasks, listen up. If anyone disobeys the orders, don’t blame me for being rude, I’ll strip you of your right to command troops."

"No way, I’d rather be locked up in solitary than not be able to fight."

Being a soldier, leading an army into battle was such a thrilling thing. Especially when winning battles one after another, nothing could be more exhilarating. To forbid them from commanding troops was worse than death.

Li Mingshu didn’t respond but quickly started giving orders.

Hearing Li Mingshu issuing real commands, everyone immediately straightened up with serious faces, falling silent.

That was military discipline, no matter how rowdy at times, when it came down to serious business, obedience was the only thing they needed to undertake. With simple orders given, the soldiers promptly left to carry them out.

That day, the frontline saw the war reigniting.

The first confrontation was at the canyon entrance; the Beastmen charged again, but this time it was completely different.

The Beastmen had just emerged when they came face to face with a wall. Yes, a literal wall, the kind formed by soldiers standing in a row. Averaging over two meters tall, clad in heavy armor, with each step seeming to shake the ground.

These were Fang Jie’s strongest Human Race infantrymen, the Earth Heavy Armor Soldiers, now brought onto the battlefield.

Since the strategic information was fully exposed, Fang Jie had no need to spread the various troop types thinly to conceal identities as before. Thus, in the Northern Grassland, all Human Race troop types could be used.

It was just that these special troop types were scarce, given the short time frame.

Their troop strength was self-produced and required Fang Jie’s permission. Combined with a persistent limitation on overall troop strength, the numbers of these newer troop types were naturally small.

Facing these Heavy Armor Soldiers, hordes of Beastmen charged heedlessly but were easily stopped and shattered as effortlessly as waves breaking against a rock.

This charge was futile, like delivering themselves for slaughter.

The Earth Heavy Armor Soldiers pushed all the way into the valley until the Beastmen hastened their retreat back behind their city walls. Had the Heavy Armor Soldiers moved faster, the Beastmen wouldn’t have stood a chance to escape.

"Tsk, if we used Elemental Catapults, we could turn those shoddy walls to rubble in a day."

The Commander behind sneered but still led the troops in withdrawal. This effortless fight caused them no casualties. It was merely a means to drag out the time, and that’s all that could be done.

But for the Beastmen on the walls, the mood was somber.

"Damn it, how come they have such troops? We’ve never seen them before."

"Yeah, even our heavily armored Minotaurs probably aren’t a match for them."

"Definitely not, each one of those soldiers is at a Gold level; we don’t have that many Gold level Minotaurs. Damn it, without a Legendary Expert, we can’t break through."

After the last Beast Emperor was killed, they still hadn’t produced another Legendary Level expert.

News from the outside world didn’t reach them easily, and they were unaware of how many Legendary figures the enemy had. The Black Flame Empire certainly wouldn’t tell them, as it could influence their decision to keep fighting.

From the three Kingdoms’ side, they only knew they were waging war against a regional proxy lord.

They had been acting with impunity, believing the enemy had no Legendaries while they had one. But like the other kingdoms, Legendary Experts shouldn’t be used lightly and rarely entered the battlefield.

Mostly, it was common troops engaged in combat.

Yet they noticed something different this time. The enemy had fielded many powerful teams and even several with members at Gold level, like the Red Lotus Knights, the Silver Knights, and others they could not contend with.

They were not a match in open battles, and even at long range, the enemy had Divine Archers of Gold level.

Though entanglement was possible before, the three Kingdoms now realized their armies were being constantly pressed.

Gradually, the Kingdoms felt the pressure, and the battles among themselves started to abate as they began discussions on forming an alliance. Of course, that was internal; the outside world didn’t know.

However, even without that knowledge, Li Mingshu could tell from their actions.

"They’re collaborating, just as I thought, but too bad the gap in strength is too wide." These kinds of battles really lack a sense of achievement.
