Chapter 540: Chapter 540: The Tragic Joy of Beastman Island
"Ha ha ha, truly exhilarating, now I want to see what kind of faces those stick-like Elves will make."
"What else could it be, if not complaints? What else are they gonna do? I just wish they’d get wiped out sooner, maybe we could even capture some of those ugly broads and turn them into slaves."
"If you say they’re ugly, why capture them? Aren’t you afraid they’ll be an eyesore?"
The burly Beastmen prefer women who are just as broad-shouldered and stout, ideally with some fur and sharp teeth. As for the Elves, they can’t stand them; they’re simply not up to their aesthetic standards.
"Ugly, yes, but they are powerful, you know. Don’t they have, what’s the word, collectible value?"
The Beastmen raised their cups in celebration, the atmosphere was heated. But just at that moment, a messenger suddenly ran over.
"Disaster has struck, and it’s a big one."
"Damn it, can’t you see we’re having a feast here? You come to dampen spirits at a time like this?"
A Beastman stood up, ready to strike, but was grabbed by a Lion-man at his side. "Wait, what’s the big deal? Spill it." He was from the Beastman Empire, so he was somewhat more reasonable.
After all, imperial royalty often took their image into account.
Even if the Beastmen didn’t usually care about that sort of thing, he was still much better than the average Beastman.
"Well, a bunch of ships are heading toward our island, looks like it’s the Humans. All three Human powers from the Big Islands seem to have united and are planning to attack us."
"You’re joking, right? Humans attacking us? Have they lost their minds or what? Aren’t they supposed to focus all their efforts on the Undead at such a time?" The fiery atmosphere started to cool down.
The Lion-man’s expression changed, "Them attacking us now, and with the Undead sweeping across all the islands, they don’t seem concerned in the slightest."
"What are you thinking?" As far as smart ones go, it was just him and another Foxman.
But that Foxman was too weak, just Gold level, so he had no say here.
The Lion-man spoke gravely, "There are only two possibilities: either the Humans and the Undead have forged an agreement. But that’s highly unlikely, for they wouldn’t watch the Undead grow stronger while depleting their own forces."
"So what the hell is going on?" the Beastmen grew impatient.
They weren’t the sort to sit quietly and analyze a situation; they wanted to know the outcome, who the enemy was, and then just launch an attack.
"The other possibility is that they might have been in cahoots all along. I should’ve thought of it sooner. Damn it, it’s their considerable strength that kept me from suspecting this might be a ruse."
The more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed. As unbelievable as this possibility sounded, once the improbable was eliminated, this seemed the most probable.
The nearby Foxman nodded slightly, "I concur with your thoughts; this must be reported immediately."
"Whether you report it or not is not our concern, but according to the pact, you’re not supposed to interfere with the Sea Alliance’s affairs anymore. They’ve already attacked; shouldn’t you be leaving immediately?"
From above, a voice rang out, and a host of Flying troops arrived, led by Legendary-level warriors.
The amassed Golden Griffin Knights, most of whom were present on the spot. Other forces were still tangled up with the Beastman air Strength elsewhere, in combination with ground Strength they mounted a brutal attack.
The combined might of the three islands was simply too much for the present Beastman Island to withstand.
"What, you have such an agreement?" The Beastman High Level widened their eyes, looking at their comrades.
They thought of themselves as united, but it turned out there was treachery afoot.
The Lion-man stood up and said, "We were supposed to leave according to the pact, but we clearly miscalculated a few things. While we will leave, we should first weaken your Strength."
"That’s right, it’s not a violation of the pact because these are our personal thoughts, which don’t involve the empire behind us."
Some were originally in a dilemma, but hearing their leader speak thus, they felt at ease.
Several hidden figures stepped out; there were actually fourteen Legendary-level powerhouses here. The Humans came with only ten, and they were even weaker in terms of Strength.
"Really? Didn’t think you all had such ideas. But as for who’s weaker, that’s not certain."
"Are there even more Legends up your sleeve?" It was already impressive they had mustered so many.
But suddenly, they realized another ten individuals stepped forward, previously hidden Legendary Power Burst forth. Overall, the enemy’s numbers far exceeded theirs, shocking everyone.
"Twenty, huh? Clever tactics, well hidden. But alas, not all Legends are equal in Strength."
Someone noticed that while these were indeed Legendary level individuals, most had only recently broken through. A few who exuded a more profound aura didn’t have Strength significantly better than theirs.
"If they’re not enough, what about us?" At that moment, some Flying troops flew in.
These troops were not Human but Undead Troops, a separate army.
But what they brought were ten Undead Legends, all seasoned veterans. Each of them had far greater Strength than any Beastman present, matching their own Strength.
If the two sides teamed up, they stood no chance against them.
"What, are you planning to join forces? No matter who grows stronger, there will eventually be a battle between you."
"You thought we were an Alliance? Too bad, we’re not. Our relationship is much closer than you could imagine." Such low-level agitation had no effect on them.
At this point, many faces turned grim, as no one had anticipated such a turn of events.
The situation was even more troublesome than they had imagined.
"Be that as it may, you’ve won. According to the pact, we shall retreat. You wouldn’t want to start war with the Empire right now, would you?"
"Of course not. As long as you don’t break the pact, we won’t either."
The Undead Hero made a gesture of invitation, and the Lion-man, having no choice, led his troops away. With their departure, only five Legendary natives of the Beastman Island remained. Although they were still powerful, they were no longer comparable to what they had been.
"Wait, you can’t just leave like that. What about us?" The other Beastmen panicked.
