Chapter 515: Chapter 515: It Turns Out We’ve Already Formed An Alliance
Walking the path, Fang Jie quickly gained a certain understanding of the current situation. However, because the other party did not reveal too much, Fang Jie’s understanding was not very thorough.
"Alright, we’ve arrived," Qin Lan said to Fang Jie, as they had already reached the Lord Mansion.
The Lord Mansion was not just a place for living; it was also for receiving distinguished guests. There was an unwritten rule in the All Heavens Hunting Ground that using the Lord Mansion for reception signified the highest standard, regardless of rank and other services.
"Then let’s go in. Our understanding seems to be getting better and better."
Fang Jie said with a smile, then his expression turned serious.
Indeed, in the past, it would not have been easy to unify thoughts so quickly on such a short journey. But Qin Lan seemed to have thought of something, and gave Fang Jie an annoyed glance.
Stepping inside, Fang Jie saw another group of people had already arrived.
Leading them was an Elf who was even taller than himself, which was normal since female Elves were also tall.
The other person was extremely delicate in appearance, like a doll, but with black hair and eyes, radiating a burning power that made Fang Jie feel a sense of oppression.
"Legendary Level, huh? The Black Flame Empire indeed has mighty figures to squander."
The Elf also looked towards Fang Jie, barely sensing any presence from him, thus unable to discern his strength.
Due to Fang Jie’s high level of Black Lotus Meditation Method, it was difficult for outsiders to detect his presence when he was concealing it. This made the Elves quite vigilant since those who could hide their presence to this extent were usually not weak compared to Legendary Levels.
"This is our Lord Fang Jie, and this is Envoy Emily," Qin Lan introduced, then stood by Fang Jie’s side like his secretary.
"Please take a seat. May I ask what brings you here this time?" Fang Jie inquired directly, not having time to waste. Besides, Elves probably didn’t like beating around the bush either.
"It’s surprising that your Lord is a Human; it seems you have already formed an alliance. That makes sense, after all, the Undead Power is indeed a bit too strong," Emily said naturally, glancing at Fang Jie and Qin Lan.
Their auras were connected, as Qin Lan was a Half-Elf of very pure bloodline, making it easier for Emily to sense it. Since these two had connected auras, they must be in a marital relationship.
A Human and a Half-Elf with nearly pure-blood heritage—this was definitely a signal of an alliance.
Usually, Elves wouldn’t be likely to actively marry off Pure-blood Elves to other races. In an instant, countless thoughts flashed through Emily’s mind, so she casually probed.
"I see, so we have already formed an alliance, the Undead Power is too strong, understood."
Fang Jie had a clear understanding in his heart that this was the situation in the other party’s mind.
"Indeed, the Undead are enemies to all living beings. Their strength is too great and poses a threat to all. So, are you here to offer help?" he also probed casually, wanting to know the stance of the Black Flame Empire.
"Of course not, we in the Black Flame Empire still have powerful enemies in the North to contend with. Besides, our policy is non-interference in the development of other states, so we cannot send troops directly to help."
Non-interference in other states, how easy it was to say. Fang Jie wouldn’t believe a word.
As for what powerful enemy lay in the North, Fang Jie didn’t know much since it was too far. Sending spies that great distance wasn’t easy. The territory of the Black Flame Empire was mostly Elves and Half-Elves, making it difficult for Humans to pass through.
"If that is so, may I ask the purpose of your visit here?"
Emily immediately responded, "We hope you can join our Alliance to confront the Beastman Empire together. The Beastman Empire is no kindred spirit; although we are both dealing with the enemy of the North, they are not friendly to Humans and Elves."
No sooner had she said they wouldn’t interfere with the development of other countries, she wanted others to join their Alliance.
By joining, could one really remain non-interfering? What would happen if we didn’t follow your commands?
Fang Jie didn’t say it directly, nor did he argue otherwise. He had learned a lot over the years, and in this respect, he had grown somewhat.
Having interacted with several politicians also allowed him to pick up certain skills and insights.
"What would joining this Alliance require, and what would it provide in return?"
Emily’s eyes narrowed slightly before she spoke, "Once you join, you become one of us. If you encounter any problems in the future, we will provide assistance."
"What if we aim to eradicate those Undead?"
"The Undead are your own issue. Unless it leads to significant losses for us, we cannot send troops proactively."
That was as good as saying nothing at all; not a shred of sincerity.
"What would be required then?" Fang Jie’s attitude must have been clear to the other side, but Emily, as if oblivious to everything, continued to lay out her conditions.
"When we confront the enemies of the North and the Beastman Empire, you will need to provide support."
Before Fang Jie could inquire further, Emily volunteered, "Mainly logistics like food, weapons, transportation, and when needed, sending troops to help. After all, if we fail, none of us will have a good outcome."
Fang Jie smirked. To join and receive nothing in return, yet give everything?
Go to war, provide money and men, and reap no benefits - what a joke. No wonder the Sea Alliance was only considered a loose coalition and had not directly joined them to form a tightly-combined entity.
It turns out their demands were just too high, and it was a wonder who could possibly join them.
Perhaps some peripheral countries might, likely those supported by them.
"That’s the case; then I’m afraid we can’t join. After all, the distance is too great, and we don’t have anything to offer," Fang Jie’s move seemed to have been anticipated by the other party.
With the Elves’ pride, it was remarkable that they even put forth these terms.
Perhaps in their minds, letting oneself join was an honor that shouldn’t be met with further demands. Fang Jie could see some annoyance and impatience in the Elves’ expressions.
However, Emily didn’t seem to care at all; she was different from the other Elves, probably having her considerations.
This first conversation ended just like that, each excusing themselves to partake in a meal.
