Global Lord: My Undead Can Undergo Fission -
Chapter 490: Wilderness Ambush Battlefield
Chapter 490: Chapter 490: Wilderness Ambush Battlefield
At this moment, a group gathered together in a place resembling a huge palace.
"Now that the situation is clear, Muse, as the Commander, why are you here? You should be on the frontline, isn’t your presence here indicative of neglecting your duty?"
"Finance Officer, I have my reasons for being here, and the Island Master will judge."
The Island Master knocked on the table. "Silence, everyone. I ordered Muse to come back. If you think you can do better, feel free to take up the role of Commander."
At this, everyone shut their mouths, well aware that Muse was the strongest Commander on Kapas Island.
There was no helping it; the large island had not seen war break out in a long time.
Even if there were battles, they were merely patrols and exterminating some pirates, nothing more.
But Muse was different; in his early years, he had left the island to mix in the most chaotic regions of the Sea Alliance. He even made quite a name for himself there, achieving great success.
After returning to Kapala Island, he was directly hired by the Island Master and became the Kapala Marshal.
Since they had not established a nation, some titles were a bit special.
"I think we must strike back quickly. The Coastal has completely fallen, and our losses are too heavy. If we let them continue, we will continue to lose more ground."
"I agree with the Finance Officer, we can’t let them keep going like this. Otherwise, where will our reputation stand?"
In the strictest sense, their positions were all equal. The Island Master was just that, not a king. Kapala Island’s Island Master had always been rotated among several top-ranking families.
They were also selected through special methods for the position of Island Master.
The reason they had not established a nation was that no single family could completely dominate all the others.
"Muse, report on the front line."
"The front line currently has the second wave of personnel arriving and resting. Among the first wave, there were over twenty thousand Gold-class warriors, and the second wave is of even higher quality."
These were their findings; though the second wave was all natives, if judged purely by their inherent strength, they indeed had higher quality. Many came from that special Plane, and there were quite a few Gold-class natives.
"We don’t know how much strength they will continue to deploy, but this is definitely not the last wave."
"Do we not have any advantage at all? How can we continue to fight like this?"
Though Kapala Island had many Gold-class warriors, such resources couldn’t be wasted recklessly. If the enemy continued to increase, who knows who had more, and at this rate, they would be no match.
"We do have advantages; the enemy lacks aerial strength, and their Mage forces aren’t as strong as ours."
"Wait, I have a question. Where did this first powerful force come from?"
The Island Master spoke, "According to the investigation, the person who proposed this war is Hillciss, originally the King from a Southern country. However, that country has already been destroyed by the Undead."
"The Undead are that strong? To be able to destroy such a powerful country?"
Everyone looked at him, knowing he had made a naïve statement. Those Undead were exactly the Undead Force behind Quisha Island.
Their strength was formidable, wasn’t it obvious? Just the Legendary beings they revealed numbered twenty. How many more lay behind them, who could say? Destroying a country surely wasn’t difficult for them.
"Even so, a country with such strength wouldn’t be easily destroyed, right?"
"True, the remaining force is indeed too large. Therefore, we believe that this force might not be theirs alone but that someone is backing Hillciss."
"That makes it even more troublesome; we simply can’t negotiate."
They had considered using other means, but now it seemed that the enemy had sufficient strength to aim at seizing their island. Any conditions they could offer would hardly make the opponent back down.
"There is good news though; although the Coastal City has been taken by them, they haven’t engaged in widespread slaughter or robbery. The order of the Coastal City is still maintained; they just took what was in the City Lord’s warehouse."
"What do you mean, letting them continue like this?"
Muse shook his head, "I mean, since they desire an intact city, let’s give them an intact city, as long as we get the city back in our hands eventually."
The Island Master stretched out his hand to stop the others from speaking, "Share your thoughts."
"My idea is that since they won’t damage those cities, who temporarily holds them doesn’t matter. We’ll have the military there withdraw with the wealth from the City Lord’s warehouse and gather our forces to fight them."
"And the battlefield?" The Island Master’s eyes shimmered; this was indeed a good plan.
Fighting the enemy separately was indeed not a match; they would only be defeated one by one. But to protect the cities, they had to do so, or else they would lose public support and suffer huge losses.
But if the opponent did not cause destruction, then they could also be unrestrained.
"My chosen battlefield is this area; if they want to head east, they will have to come to this wilderness. This wilderness is of no value, its expanse is vast, and there’s little cover, allowing the air force to fully deploy its strength."
Everyone looked toward this area, as it was a wilderness, usually overlooked by all.
The area was typically dominated by bandits and bullies; whether these people lived or died was of no concern to them.
Even if some had interests there, compared to the interests of the entire island, it didn’t count for much. These were not good people and could be sacrificed at any time.
"Good place, let’s settle on here. We will take care of other things."
The Finance Officer looked a bit relieved, "But if we fail this time, you will have to bear all the responsibility."
There was no choice. The pressure on him was just too great. Losing so many cities in the Coastal area had caused huge problems in the finances he managed.
If they couldn’t find someone to take the blame, his career was likely over.
"It’s agreed," Muse said indifferently. If they failed this attempt, Kapala Island would cease to exist, and regardless of whether he shouldered the blame, they would likely have to abide by the enemy’s terms.
