Chapter 455: Chapter 455: New Population Increase of Two Million
Qin Lan didn’t enter, so the only option was for the elves inside to come out themselves.
Qin Lan didn’t just bring her own guard team; nearby armies had also gathered here. Or rather, the local elves were already almost completely surrounded.
Although not entirely encircled, they still had other races and enemies at their back.
If the enemy directly attacked them, they could only flee, but during the escape, what those enemies would do was uncertain. Sometimes, all kinds of tactics could be employed.
Even with the Three-Eyed Clan mediating, there were still loopholes to be exploited.
Elves weren’t adept at these matters, but they hadn’t shied away from them either; otherwise, they would have fled this place long ago.
Before long, more and more elves began to watch them from a distance in the forest. As there were elves among Qin Lan’s ranks, it was easy to spot these individuals.
Though Qin Lan’s subordinates didn’t possess elf troops of the gold tier, they did have two gold-tier Elf Heroes.
After a long while, finally, some elves stepped out. Not because they wanted to, but because they stood no chance. Surrounded by countless undead, if they didn’t fight back, the consequences could be dire.
"Hello, I am Kapas, the Elf King of this place. May I know what commands you have for me?"
Kapas kept his attitude very low, but the other elves around him looked at them with hostility. Due to the previous battles, the elves had suffered significant losses, and their race was not one that could easily repopulate.
Qin Lan hadn’t expected to encounter a male this time.
The age of Kapas in front of her couldn’t be discerned, but elves only started to age rapidly when death was near. Until then, they always appeared youthful.
What Qin Lan didn’t expect was that kings among elves were normally female; a male was quite unusual.
If she wasn’t very clear about the nature of elves, and the behavior of the surrounding elves, Qin Lan might have thought he was a puppet being pushed forward, with the real Elf King somewhere else.
"Hello, you can call me Qin Lan, the wife of Lord Fang Jie. I have come here hoping that you could join us," Qin Lan said, which immediately caused an uproar on the opposite side.
"Damn it, a Half-Elf with impure blood, what right do you have to demand our allegiance?"
"You’re a traitor, to have betrayed the living and joined the undead."
"Don’t listen to her, we need to avenge our fallen comrades, even if it means fighting to the end."
Qin Lan scanned the crowd, and before long, the shouting gradually ceased as they all turned to look at Kapas. At this moment, Kapas was looking down, deep in thought, with his eyebrows furrowed tightly.
"Can you explain your terms? Otherwise, we prefer death to compliance."
For an Elf King, the continuation of his race was paramount.
"You will relocate to our territory, I have Elf Camp land that is perfect for your development. From now on, you will be my subjects, following my orders directly."
"Territory? Aren’t you undead? I’ve heard of such things as territories, but an elf territory?"
"You seem to be unaware of the true nature of this invasion. This time it’s the All Heavens Hunting Ground that seeks to Devour your world; we are all Pioneers. Regardless of the outcome of the war, the Devouring of your world is irreversible."
"Once you are Devoured, you will still end up in our world, but where exactly is uncertain. If you want to keep your people together and not scattered, it’s best to join us."
"There are different Camps within a territory, and my territory is the Elf Camp, see for yourself."
Qin Lan had her troops step forward, and soon they realized these were pure Forest Elves. Yet, however they looked at them, they seemed different, their thinking too rigid.
Normal elves could never be trained like this, yet they didn’t seem to be controlled by anyone either.
After checking repeatedly, Kapas finally confirmed there was no problem, although he was unclear about the distinctions among the undead, he knew a lot about the differences between elves.
"I don’t know if what you’re saying is true or false, as we don’t understand the outside world that well. Joining the undead carries great risks, the Divine Envoy probably won’t just stand by and watch."
"Speaking of the Divine Envoy, these must be them," Qin Lan said as people arrived from behind.
However, they were carrying several corpses, all belonging to the Three-Eyed Clan.
"Eight of them, not a single one escaped; two were Legendary. Their strength was certainly formidable," a Skeleton Hero spoke. They had deployed ten Legendaries to dispose of them this quickly, although one was severely wounded.
Without their seasoned Legendaries, they might have indeed let them escape.
Seeing these Divine Envoys, Kapas’s expression changed. These were the envoys that communicated with their clan and many other surrounding races.
He had dared to meet with Qin Lan because they were temporarily away, otherwise, he wouldn’t have even considered a meeting.
If the Three-Eyed Clan knew he had thoughts of treason, he would be dead. But now it was almost the same; with the corpses of the Divine Envoy right in front of him, he didn’t stand a chance to clear himself.
If they insisted that he colluded from within, would the Three-Eyed Clan believe any explanation he gave?
Considering all this, Kapas realized he might have been trapped.
But there was no alternative; battling them was out of the question. Qin Lan knew that his resolve was wavering. She had her subordinates come forward to demonstrate, especially the various Disease powers.
Seeing these Disease powers, even the elves who had been clamoring for a fight turned pale.
Death was not scary; what was terrifying was becoming a rotten corpse after death, the entire race turning into such, and eventually joining them only to serve as cannon fodder.
Rather than that, it would be better to join them directly. Although they were unsure about the truth of their words, the situation was clearly complex.
They also knew through some channels that the Three-Eyed Clan was not faring well.
It used to be easy to communicate with the gods, but now the gods hardly responded. If taken together with what they said, perhaps the gods were indeed entangled now.
"Then I will join you," Kapas said, his spirit seemingly drained.
"Our clan totals over two million people, I hope you will treat us well."
"Leader, we..."
"Enough, don’t talk. I am the Clan Leader right now. Whatever happens, I alone will bear the responsibility."
