Chapter 445: Chapter 445 The Great Migration Begins

"Move it, move it," someone shouted loudly at the people on the road. Anyone moving too slowly was met with a lash.

Yes, this was the scene at Jade Slope.

There was no choice, as the great Human migration had begun. These people were all being sent to Fang Jie’s home Territory. But human migration was always like this, excruciatingly slow when left to their own devices.

The trouble was, with a temporary abundance of food, these people’s laziest sides emerged in full force.

To ensure the migration’s completion, Fang Jie brought out some officials and soldiers from the former Human Kingdom to take charge. Initially, there was cordial discourse but, inevitably, many became increasingly disobedient.

In the end, there was no choice but to take up whips and lash them, so they would keep moving quickly.

Fortunately, they showed restraint and did not strike the elderly, women, or children, focusing mostly on the younger, more able-bodied individuals.

The youth were moving so sluggishly, which only caused trouble. Some of these people also resisted, having undergone Cultivation and wanting to act as they pleased.

However, the Undead Patrol Teams lurking around were not vegetarian. Any resistance was met with immediate execution, no questions asked, and the bodies were hung on the roadside as warnings to others.

After the initial disturbances, as more bodies hung by the road, people began to behave.

Without such measures, the migration would not have been nearly as smooth.

Fang Jie was constructing Affiliated Territories, but the food was not so easily transported.

Because of the Space Channel, the Material Warehouse couldn’t directly deliver the food or transport people. Supplies like food and potions still had to be brought over by the Undead.

Thus, the migration had to proceed, and a vast number of people were shipped over to the Territory.

Over there, reception teams were ready, dispersing all newcomers upon arrival. These people were then disinfected to avoid infecting others with any diseases.

Next, the people were scattered around to start eating. Those who had just arrived got to have a meal.

After all, they had traveled for half a day through unchanging scenery, and because the Space Channel forced them to continue moving without stopping, slowing down, or hastening.

Even those with good Physical Strength felt overwhelmed, while the weaker ones sat down as soon as they came out.

Still, they were driven with whips to designated areas to eat and rest.

This was the problem with the Space Channel and why Fang Jie initially hesitated to use it for migration. Just a half-day was tough; two days might have resulted in many deaths along the way.

"Eat up, then get up and follow me. I’ll take you to where you’ll live from now on."

As a new group arrived, the previous group was immediately led away. They had learned, over this time, what kind of person Lord Fang Jie was: once an order was issued, it could not be defied.

Anyone daring to oppose the order was indeed courting death, and Fang Jie would not tolerate it.

Thus, driven by whips, they resumed the path of migration. Some traveled through large Space Gates to closer locations, while others, with far destinations, had longer journeys.

Fortunately, arriving at this place meant no shortage of supplies along the way, thanks to the special nature of the Material Warehouse.

Fang Jie had vast stretches of Territory under his command, many sparsely populated or barren, yet all still suitable for habitation.

Even if some areas, like deserts, were unfit for Human living, most of Fang Jie’s Territory could accommodate these people without sending them to the Sea Alliance.

With the arrival of these Humans, Fang Jie’s Territory flourished even more.

Many areas controlled by the Human Lords welcomed these new arrivals wholeheartedly.

Especially at the Northern Grassland, where there was a dire shortage of population. This population consisted of normal people, not troops. Troops, without three generations of propagation, could not become regular creatures.

And on the shores of the Northern Plateau, priority was given to settlements.

Even though the White Foxes of the Northern highland weren’t too fond of so many Humans, their numbers were small. With trolls wiped out, the vast area of the Northern Plateau was left barren.

In these places, extensive fields were cultivated, ensuring survivors could soon thrive.

"Sending these people over like this, won’t they lack Talent in the future?"

Qin Lan’s words made Fang Jie chuckle, "Who knows? Perhaps after Devouring this world, they’ll gain some. Besides, isn’t it better without Talent? I don’t need them to use Talent for anything."

Indeed, for Fang Jie, Humans lacking Talent might even be preferable.

With Talent came capabilities, and what if they developed ambition? Fang Jie well understood the ambition that followed Human Strength; who knows what problems it could cause.

Especially since he was part of the Undead Camp, undoubtedly many would use this as a pretext to stir the populace.

Of late, Fang Jie had encountered plenty of such acts of incitement. Had it not been for his policy of ruthlessly eliminating instigators and their influenced followers alike, suppressing them would not be easy.

Once living conditions improved, there would always be some discontented individuals.

"You’re right; sometimes lacking Talent indeed seems like a good thing."

There had been several betrayals among their goblins during this time, with the majority being dealt with.

With their personal spaces, some goblins squirrelled away secret treasures; to them, wealth was even more precious than life itself, and when an opportunity arose, it was hard to control the greed.

After these people were shipped off, the food pressure gradually eased.

Day by day, more food and potions could be transported, while the number of people here steadily decreased. This significantly reduced workloads and, as the population dwindled, the required protective Strength could be lessened.

Otherwise, some Undead would constantly seek to exterminate these Humans.

If kept indefinitely, they would provide a motive for other Undead to attack Fang Jie’s forces. Despite the channel, relocating everyone was not a simple task.

At this rate, without a couple of years, things seemed unfeasible. Yet with the current conflict, could the battle last that long?
