Global Lord: My Undead Can Undergo Fission -
Chapter 372: The Essence of the Dark Forest
Chapter 372: Chapter 372: The Essence of the Dark Forest
The mighty Undead Army entered the forest and immediately began to advance relentlessly.
Inside the Dark Forest, the Druids stood no chance whatsoever. The powerful Undead Creatures were far stronger than any ordinary Skeletons. Having undergone multiple enhancements, these Undead were far mightier than any plant army of the same rank.
Those Dark Druids couldn’t possibly have the protection of any God.
After all, Dark Druids are also known as Fallen Druids. What does a Fallen profession mean? It refers to those who oppose the Gods. Even those who do not worship any gods are closer to the divine than they are.
These fellows either worship some evil entities, which although they are called Evil Gods, many are not gods at all but rather God Monsters.
Others believe the divine is an evil existence that must be opposed.
All these things Fang Jie learnt in the temple.
Ever since the temple began the worship of the Cloud God, many special books appeared. Fang Jie was able to gain common knowledge about the divine through these books.
In the midst of the Dark Forest, a tall, thin, very ordinary-looking middle-aged man dressed in leafy garb emerged.
The man was over two meters tall, as tall as Jing Lin, with many dark-green patterns on his skin. However, his ears were not pointed; he belonged to the Druid race, believed to be a species evolved from Elves.
Yet the patterns on these Druids were mostly black, not the green typical of other Druids.
"Great Lord, the Undead have deployed a powerful army, and we are no match for them now; we can only retreat step by step."
The newcomer who had just arrived to report spoke in a calm tone, "What’s the situation like now?"
"The strength of those Undead is formidable. They have a large number of Hero Units with Gold Combat Power, and the majority of them are airborne units. It’s certain that they must be backed by a powerful Territory."
"Alas," the Great Lord said, "once the Lord of a Territory dies, the effects they can exert weaken significantly and successors can hardly inherit much, at best maintaining some basic functions. But there are always some Longevity Species who, upon acquiring a Territory, can develop it rapidly over a long period."
The Druid Great Lord seemed to forget that the Druids themselves were a Longevity Species.
"Once again, some from the Undead Camp have risen in power. I truly don’t understand why no one exterminated them earlier. Those idiotic Humans are all useless."
"But, Great Leader, what do we do now? They truly have many legendary-level experts."
They had nowhere to run. The Dark Forest was their home ground but also confined them within.
Once outside of the forest, these Dark Druids would have very limited strength to exert. Unable to corrupt nature for long stretches of time, these Fallen Druids were far less capable than ordinary Druids.
"Have you prepared everything I asked you to?"
"We’ve completed all the preparations. Are we using it now?"
The Great Lord nodded, "Then let’s use it. Let them see just how great our Dark Forest’s heritage has been over these thousands of years." The Great Lord walked toward a certain direction.
These Dark Druids had always had a very special way of succession.
The leader was the Great Lord. Once someone broke through to the Legendary Level, they would fight against one another following their own rules of combat. The one who survived in the end would become the Great Lord.
Because of this, over the years, there has only ever been one Legendary Expert among the Dark Druids.
If there are no new Legendary Experts, how could they possibly go forth and conquer?
If that weren’t the case, the New Moon Kingdom would probably have been transformed into part of the forest long ago. The reason they attacked but never fully rushed out was that they knew their own limitations.
But now that the battle had come straight to their home, standing by and not fighting was absolutely impossible.
Soon after, a light erupted in the center of the Dark Forest. The entire forest turned a shade of green, but in the sky, faint black mists drifted out.
Looking at that region, it seemed to become an area full of Ghost Demons.
Enormous power was brewing within, but this Power Burst happened so quickly that the Undead at the front lines had no time to stop it and could only watch helplessly as the power fully unleashed.
In the next moment, countless massive trees stood up. The ancient trees in the forest center, which had grown for who knows how many years, all rose from the ground, their bodies rapidly decaying into Corrupted Tree Demons.
The change at the front lines was immediately reported to Fang Jie.
Fang Jie’s Death Crows couldn’t fly that far, but fortresses and Material Warehouses had been hastily constructed at the front lines, so there were always people in charge of relaying all the news from the front to him.
"Lord," they reported, "all the great trees at the center of the Dark Forest have come alive. According to the front-line information, their strength has reached Gold Level, many of them at the Golden Peak, and there could be tens of thousands in number."
Fang Jie nodded, "What a terrifying foundation. I did not expect them to achieve this."
The heritage of the Dark Forest, cultivated by the Dark Druids over numerous years, was beyond the imagination of ordinary people.
Such a vast army, though unusable afterward and thus largely a waste of the forest, was not to be underestimated by any Kingdom once deployed.
Even the combined forces of the New Moon Kingdom and the Blue Sand Kingdom could not compare to this Gold Level power.
"Report, we’ve just received news that the aura of three Corrupted Tree Demons has broken through to the Legendary Level."
"Three? Quite a few, indeed. I wonder how many Legendary beings they still have. But if they’ve only just broken through, their strength probably pales in comparison to our Legendary Heroes."
Fang Jie furrowed his brow, not expecting the enemy’s foundation to be so strong.
If it really came down to it, then he would have to continue to use up a great deal of Gold Combat Power to wear them down. These great trees were problematic in mobility and under control, so they would likely remain.
But if it came to that, his own Golden Army would suffer severe losses.
However, it might turn out that the enemy’s strength wasn’t that formidable. Fang Jie called all nine of his Legendary units and gathered them toward the forest. The two who were injured earlier now entered the battlefield with their wounds.
No matter the injury, they were still of Legendary Combat Power, incomparable to ordinary forces.
The epic battle was about to erupt, with both sides confronting each other on the edge of the forest center.
