Global Lord: My Undead Can Undergo Fission -
Chapter 357: The Siege of the Royal Capital
Chapter 357: Chapter 357: The Siege of the Royal Capital
The Undead Army advanced, and the impact was not limited to just the Blue Sand Kingdom.
The first to be affected were those lords who had been forced or voluntarily joined the Blue Sand Kingdom. These were all insiders, well aware that it was Fang Jie leading the attack.
Even they were privy to some of Fang Jie’s policies, none of which were secrets anymore.
After all, as the Undead Army marched forward, those truly in charge of the cleanup were the military personnel. This time, even Qin Lan had volunteered to take charge of the logistics at the rear.
Having come this far, revealing some information was no longer of concern to them.
Thus, some lords immediately surrendered and were then investigated by those arranged by Fang Jie.
Those who met his criteria were retained, while the others had their properties destroyed or confiscated as per the regulations. Although Fang Jie didn’t consider himself a good person, he also didn’t want to leave behind a terrible reputation.
Those with particularly bad reputations, if caught, met with immediate execution.
Most of these individuals chose to flee, abandoning their territories.
The few who had managed to upgrade their lands to towns under the pressure of the Blue Sand Kingdom had already chosen a new location, transferring their towns and leaving behind functional buildings to be occupied or destroyed.
In any case, as the army advanced, none of these lords could escape.
Fang Jie’s ranks swelled with many more lords.
The objective this time was to conquer, not just to collect spirit points, so when Fang Jie encountered human cities along the way, he spared those who did not resist. Aside from eliminating the resistance, all others were spared.
After this passage, at least half of the people remained.
The reason why only half were spared was not that the other half were killed, but that many had fled from the disaster. Had it not been for the rapid advance of the Undead, none would have stayed.
In most people’s minds, the Undead did not leave survivors.
On the battlefield before, this had typically been the case, so the current behavior was rather surprising.
"Great Lord, Great Lord, I suppose my task is completed," Jia Siwei, uncharacteristically, took the initiative to contact Fang Jie.
Fang Jie nodded, "Indeed, your task is completed, and you’ve done very well. Just take care of yourself from now on." Jia Siwei had indeed done well and developed quite nicely.
"Then, can I participate in this battle? I want to contribute my strength."
A thought struck Fang Jie; he roughly understood what Jia Siwei meant. This fellow must have seen Fang Jie’s move to conquer the Blue Sand Kingdom and worried his promise might fail to materialize.
Originally, Fang Jie had indeed promised to leave the management of the Blue Sand Kingdom to him.
However, Fang Jie had no intention of reneging. Although Jia Siwei’s performance was not perfect, managing these matters would be given to someone, and Fang Jie cared only for the resources produced by the lands.
Moreover, what mattered were the various ancient and current battlefields. After erecting Gathering Spirit Towers there, they would continuously provide him with spirit points.
That was key; everything else was trivial.
"No need, you don’t have to participate this time, after all, the Blue Sand Kingdom is not so easy to deal with. After this, I’ll hand over that part of the Blue Sand Kingdom to you for management, and you can choose an appropriate camp territory to manage."
Fang Jie had plenty of territories from various camps in his hands, any of which could be upgraded and transferred to a specific location at any time.
"But Great Lord, I feel my fame is insufficient, so for the Blue Sand Kingdom, I just want the management rights of the southern half."
Fang Jie was taken aback, surprised that Jia Siwei had voluntarily given up half. But it made sense; Jia Siwei’s fame and strength indeed fell far short, and at first, he didn’t even know the true extent of the Blue Sand Kingdom.
Even with half gone, what remained was still much larger than the New Moon Kingdom.
While he must act according to Fang Jie’s rules, having such extensive management rights meant Jia Siwei could essentially become a local emperor. All his past aspirations could now be realized.
"That’s fine, then. Let the desert be the boundary, and the south will be yours to manage."
The south mattered even less to Fang Jie, for aside from bordering the New Moon Kingdom, the other regions were special areas impassable by common people.
Only the north bordered several powerful countries.
On the great plains of the north, didn’t he likewise border three human kingdoms?
Fang Jie gestured dismissively, "Alright, don’t expose yourself for now, or the New Moon Kingdom might not let you off. I’ll deal with the Blue Sand Kingdom first."
Jia Siwei hastily acknowledged, not disturbing Fang Jie any further.
Having received Fang Jie’s recognition, Jia Siwei’s excitement took quite some time to settle, despite his typically composed demeanour.
In the blink of an eye, three days passed, and the three armies made steady progress towards the vicinity of the Royal Capital of the Blue Sand Kingdom. By now, the Undead Army counted not merely twenty million but each division numbering twenty million.
In total, forty million—a force even greater than what the Blue Sand Kingdom had previously hired.
The Blue Sand Kingdom was well aware they had been played. But this was the nature of relations between countries, mutual deception, with victory going to the best deceiver.
A miscalculation was theirs to own; no one else was to blame.
Around the Royal Capital, the armies of the Blue Sand Kingdom were gathered, unable to all fit within the capital itself. They congregated outside the city while the outer rings were encircled by the Undead Army, laying siege.
Further afield, the kingdom’s various cities formed a network, ostensibly encircling the Undead, but none dared to attack. After all, these encircling forces were too weak.
The entire Blue Sand Kingdom, with the Royal Capital at the center, became something akin to a layered pastry, tier upon tier.
And the people of the Blue Sand Kingdom certainly didn’t find it amusing in the slightest, no laughter in their hearts as they were now encircled, facing at least several thousand Undead Creatures of gold-level strength outside.
Perhaps even more, as their scouting had become utterly impossible.
Judging by the gold-level combat power, they were no match for the Undead. Had they not initially placed immense trust in their kingdom’s Legendary Experts, some might have already fled.
But now surrounded, everyone felt deeply uneasy.
