Global Lord: My Undead Can Undergo Fission
Chapter 317: Negotiations Before the War

Chapter 317: Chapter 317: Negotiations Before the War

Internal affairs often prove to be more troublesome than external ones and are more likely to draw on a person’s energy. Even Fang Jie needed to take some time every day to read reports and study various issues.

But Fang Jie was in the learning phase; he had never delved deeply into these matters before.

At a glance, the strategies set by those higher-ups seemed quite straightforward, but when it came to his turn, Fang Jie realized just how insufficient his own capabilities were.

Fortunately, Fang Jie’s learning speed was incredibly fast, thanks to his now powerful spiritual power.

However, Fang Jie hadn’t been at leisure for two days before he received a new report. Duogu, located in the desert, informed Fang Jie that Earl Morale of the Blue Sand Kingdom had once again made a visit request, but didn’t specify the matter.

"Should be about hiring us," Fang Jie thought after a brief consideration, especially since Jia Siwei had just reported to him about the two restless kingdoms.

The scale of this time’s conflict was much larger than before; the two kingdoms had truly gone to war with each other. If they couldn’t settle the score this time, they would definitely not stop, as this was a continuation of the last war.

And to reduce losses for their own kingdom and to increase their chances of victory, hiring the Undead was a normal affair.

"My Lord, they have arrived," said his subordinate.

"Good, just handle the negotiations as before," Fang Jie decided. "No, raise the price by more than 20%, considering we’ve also sustained considerable losses during this time. Make the negotiation a bit tougher to let them know that our troop numbers are dwindling."

Fang Jie thought about it and decided to give them a signal that his force was not as abundant.

If they knew he had an ample supply of Gold-level strength, they might focus their main objective on him. Then, both kingdoms would continue depleting their wealth to match the combat power of his side.

Although Fang Jie didn’t mind this, and could even benefit more from it,

such aftermath would cause greater hassle. If things went south, there was even a possibility that the two kingdoms might join forces against him.

While Fang Jie wasn’t particularly worried about facing them, he didn’t want to suffer significant losses; it would be better to steadily consume both kingdoms bit by bit. So, the first step was to let them exhaust their own military forces.

"My Lord, there’s a significant problem. Many of the troops they want to hire are basic-level, but we’ve run out of basic-level troops."

Fang Jie was startled but then remembered that he had recently overhauled his army.

Those at the Apprentice level of combat power had been consumed through repeated wars. Now, the lowest rank among his military forces was the Black Iron Species.

It could be said that within his territory, apart from a few specialized types like Skeleton Labor, there were no forces below the Black Iron level. But a large part of their hiring demands consisted of these.

After all, most of the two kingdoms’ warfare relied on Apprentice Level troops.

The war front was simply too extensive, and they had to accommodate the sentiments of the lesser nobles and lords, giving them the opportunity for accolades. Thus, Apprentice Level troops had always been the backbone of the army, the most abundant kind.

After thinking it through, Fang Jie said, "You go ahead with the negotiations. I’ll have them start manufacturing a batch right away."

Fang Jie had no choice; it wasn’t just that this place needed them—the New Moon Kingdom probably did as well.

So, he’d first manufacture some—how many? Fang Jie thought about it and decided on ten million. Corpses were not an issue; after all, the Corpse Processing Plant produced a vast number of standard Corpse Bones units every day.

If ten million weren’t enough, he would simply make more later. That would be the plan.

The next day, Earl Morale showed up on the desert side, and Fang Jie watched the negotiation between the two parties the whole time. Of course, Morale had not come alone but brought a negotiation team with him.

This time, they weren’t just offering Gold Coins for the hiring, but also a variety of Equipment.

Each of these equipment pieces represented a considerable fortune.

Though these were of little use to Fang Jie himself, he accepted them nonetheless. They could be used by his subordinate heroes, or reserved for awarding bonuses to some people.

It seemed that he had never given his subordinates wages or bonuses of any sort.

Because Fang Jie didn’t care about such matters, it didn’t matter to him even if those people weren’t loyal to him, so he had never paid attention. Perhaps, it was something to consider in the future, after all, he did need to win over some hearts.

Consider it training, Fang Jie thought to himself.

Before long, Fang Jie received news from Mobs; as expected, the New Moon Kingdom could no longer sit still.

Marquis Kolan had always been in direct contact with Mobs, and this time was no exception. However, his status had changed, as Mobs had become a Duke in his own right since the last battle.

So, when Kolan met Mobs, he did so from a position of disadvantage, though he represented the Kingdom.

"The same with them, huh? Even the troops they want to hire are similar. But it seems they didn’t prearrange this, rather they have made nearly identical decisions by comparing their military forces."

Unlike the Blue Sand Kingdom, which offered more equipment for hiring, the New Moon Kingdom put forward a lot of corpses. The same as before, they unearthed those Gold-level corpses from somewhere.

It looked like the New Moon Kingdom was truly invested this time, going all out from the start.

"The air force of the New Moon Kingdom is seriously outmatched, so I feel they lack a sense of security. Perhaps, it won’t take long before they concede on their own, making the battle untenable," Fang Jie mused.

"What are your thoughts, then?" Fang Jie asked.

"I think we should offer them some of our aerial force to supplement theirs. The kind that they can directly control themselves." It wasn’t possible before, but now there’s no problem.

When manufacturing troops into cards, Fang Jie could choose whether to erase the surplus memories.

Without such an ability, one couldn’t casually turn even slightly sentient undead into cards. After all, the exposure of intelligence could sometimes be more valuable than the benefits gained.

After pondering, Fang Jie said again, "You decide how many would be appropriate."

"Based on my intelligence analysis, a thousand would be just right to sell to them. Any less might not suffice, but more could provoke them to have other ideas."

A thousand, meaning he only needed to produce ten for Fission. However, turning them into cards would require more resources than creating a thousand troops, a cost which would be transferred onto the New Moon Kingdom since these were cards.
