Global Lord: My Undead Can Undergo Fission -
Chapter 306: Devoured Again
Chapter 306: Chapter 306: Devoured Again
After the end of the great war, the goblins’ offensives against those special Array Maps became very weak, with only scattered individuals who, either discontent or seeking revenge, would sneak into these places.
Fang Jie merely needed to place two Skeleton Flying Dragons at each location and it was basically foolproof.
"Indeed, their Gold-level combat power is running low, they dare not send them out anymore."
The high-level goblins were still very fond of their lives, not knowing whether it was because they cherished life or because they felt their own lives were of greater value. In any case, those Gold-level combat forces no longer appeared on the battlefield.
The Skeleton Army flew on patrol in the sky, no longer spotting any trace of the enemies; all enemies were completely hidden.
Fang Jie spent a day setting up sixteen Array Maps across the whole world, thoroughly completing the task.
"The second phase of the task is complete, detection of the entire world has been locked, please hold on for three days."
Fang Jie understood, "This must be the third phase of the task, three days—no telling how much the goblins will have recovered. If they recover fully, that could be dangerous." Fang Jie’s forces were already at their limit.
The production of White Bone Griffins each day could only replenish previous losses. Since they vanished automatically after a set time, and were not directly controlled by him, they would not be retained indefinitely.
To ensure combat strength, Fang Jie even used Undead Recovery, resurrecting some Silver-ranked Bear Goblins to serve as combat power.
Though costly, the undead created by Undead Recovery didn’t have a time restriction.
The first day passed without any activity from the goblins—even as Fang Jie’s aerial forces continued to destroy those cities, both sides remained untroubled. In the cities on the ground, there were no goblins left.
Not entirely though, some were still hidden in the ruins.
Fang Jie wasn’t a murderer; he was merely destroying factories to suppress the goblins and wasn’t going to actively seek out goblins to kill.
On the second day, the goblins still did nothing. However, as the Array Maps came into form, the sense of crisis felt by the world grew more severe. This feeling of crisis pounded wave after wave onto all creatures in this world.
Not only the creatures near the Array Maps began attacking, but even more distant creatures started migrating towards the Array Maps.
No matter the species, they all madly assaulted the locations of these Array Maps, so much so that even the dimmest goblin would notice.
Yet, the goblins still didn’t act, except for a few dim-witted enough to charge out. Unfortunately, those Bear Goblins were among the dim-witted, leading to resistance from the Bear Goblins in the south along with some biological weapons.
But since the resisting creatures were too few, they didn’t cause significant harm.
"We must reinforce the troop strength in the south, or tomorrow’s attack will be stronger."
Fang Jie silently moved half of his forces to the southern Array Maps. Then, after some thought, Fang Jie decided to send out all his forces to protect all the Array Maps while he himself remained inside the Pula Mountain Area.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to hide, but because this place was the core of the Array Map, its destruction would also lead to mission failure.
Fang Jie stayed away from near the Array Maps and found a place unnoticed to hide secretively within. This way, the destruction of any Array Map signified mission failure.
When that happened, Fang Jie would leave immediately, not lingering any longer.
The third day arrived as expected, and just as Fang Jie thought, the world’s offensive began to intensify.
Even in the sky, some fighter jets occasionally appeared.
"It seems the goblins have recovered quickly, otherwise they wouldn’t send out these jets," Fang Jie knew. These jets were not meant for combat but for reconnaissance to gauge the situation externally.
If the external combat power was too strong, they would continue to hide; if it was weaker, they would charge out.
Fang Jie’s hands were already running low on combat power, so he pretended to have even less, making the goblins suspicious and uncertain. Thus, Fang Jie dragged out the time until the last moment.
However, with two hours left until the end, the goblins finally couldn’t bear it any longer.
"They’ve all come out, huh? The recovery rate is really quick. According to summaries from various places, the goblins have managed to produce, at the least, over eight hundred Gold-level goblin airships, possibly even more than a thousand."
Fang Jie was somewhat troubled. Normally, such a number wouldn’t pose a threat to the Skeleton Flying Dragons unless they grouped together.
But, it was clear the goblins had improved, creating these specially, and although one-on-one they were still no match for a Skeleton Flying Dragon, three of them together could manage to shatter one.
This was something frontline combat revealed to Fang Jie. Fang Jie immediately deployed all the Silver-ranked White Bone Griffins to harry and keep the goblins on alert, buying over an hour more.
As the end drew near, the goblins sensed that the enemy’s offensive was indeed weak, so some goblins started moving towards the Pula Mountain Area.
From a distance, Fang Jie watched a team of goblin airships quickly approach. He could now see them, but Fang Jie smiled, as the panel notification had shown that time was nearly up.
"Ten, nine... one, time’s up." Fang Jie watched the airships nearing attack range and smiled.
Suddenly, the entire world seemed to shudder, all creatures sensed something amiss.
"Look, what is that?" a goblin suddenly pointed to the sky. In the air appeared a massive Illusion, a tremendous Strength engulfing the entire world.
Looking directly, one could see a massive mouth rapidly approaching, steadily swallowing the world into it.
"Seeing this scene again, it feels like it’s been a long time since the last, but this time, it seems only grandeur," Fang Jie thought, feeling no sorrow for a world being Devoured.
It’s not as if they died directly, rather they dropped into another world. However, this world, dominated by technology and goblins, may not fare well in the All Heavens Hunting Ground.
After all, there, unrestricted by any technology, they couldn’t exert much Strength.
Basic technology was one thing, but high technology had no place in the All Heavens Hunting Ground. But, what did all this have to do with him? Fang Jie watched the immense mouth in the sky and mused.
