Chapter 201: Chapter 201: The Temptation of the Temple and the Kingdom
After experimenting with the Skeleton Flying Dragon’s abilities briefly, Fang Jie had it stand by at the side.
Next was the construction work for the dock and shipyard by the sea. Once that was successfully built, the final powerful ships could be produced, although that would take some time.
Fang Jie walked towards the rear; he hadn’t fully seen everything since the Territory Upgrade.
Along the central axis of the territory, aside from a plaza dedicated to the placement of the Mage Tower, a temple had also appeared.
Fang Jie cautiously entered the temple, nothing happened, but the temple was eerily empty. In the middle of the central platform, there was nothing, which felt bizarrely out of place.
Temple (Empty): Requires the tribute of a Divine Statue. Note: Once a Divine Statue is tributed, it cannot be changed.
A special introduction appeared before Fang Jie, helping him understand what this place was all about.
"The statues in the territory before could be swapped out at will, and they had special abilities. Divine statues require a city to tribute, so their abilities should be stronger, but I’m afraid I can’t be reckless."
After all, once a divine statue was tributed, it couldn’t be changed—who knew what would happen if the wrong god was summoned.
Besides, coming from Earth’s China, Fang Jie didn’t hold much reverence for gods. As for the act of tributing to a god, he didn’t find it repulsive per se, nor could he say he liked it.
So for now, it might as well be left empty—after all, he had no idea where to find a divine statue.
Even with statues, Fang Jie had only acquired one so far, not even having found a second.
Next, he would wait for the ships to be fabricated, and then get these places fully operational. Then it was time to produce brick-type materials on a large scale and absorb Spirit Points, as he was running low on his own.
After sorting through his thoughts, Fang Jie realized there were indeed many things to be done, but they all had to be taken slowly.
As for himself, there was nothing left but to research spells. Continuously improving oneself and one’s Spell Level was currently the easiest way to improve.
However, the next day, Fang Jie suddenly received news from Duogu.
"What did you say, the Blue Sand Empire is preparing to hire more Undead, and they’re also coming for an inspection?"
Duogu, the ruler of the desert region, relayed the news directly to Fang Jie. It was known that the Blue Sand Empire had already hired over a million Undead, even though they were mostly Apprentice Level, but the sheer number was telling.
The last time the Blue Sand Empire had hired so many, Fang Jie and Qin Lan speculated it was to test him.
While testing him, they aimed to weaken his power and see if they could deal with him. This inspection must be another probe to determine the remaining Strength.
But this time, Fang Jie didn’t need Qin Lan to help him analyze, he had some clarity himself.
"Since they want to probe, let them have a thorough probe. I want to see their faces when I send these Skeleton Flying Dragons over."
Fang Jie, now swelling in power, had not yet fully unleashed his foundation.
Thus, displaying his power now was the best tactic to buy himself more time.
As for being "all bark and no bite," Fang Jie didn’t care. Being able to bring out sixty-four Gold Combat Power units, and that too of the Flying Dragon Type, was something no force should underestimate.
The Skeleton Flying Dragons flew towards the desert at Fang Jie’s command.
Being a High-level Combat Power, the Skeleton Flying Dragons had High-level intelligence from the start.
However, due to the difficulty in evolving such special high-level creatures into Elites, it was likely to be a long time before he could gain a Skeleton Flying Dragon Hero.
Three days later, the border teams entered the desert and arrived at Quicksand Town.
Indeed, Quicksand Village had become a town by then—as an external window, it couldn’t afford to be too lowly rated, could it? It was just a pity that their Talent, the Quicksand Tunnels, remained the same as before without any strengthening.
It seemed this special talent had been set in stone from the start.
Seeing the team appear, Duogu slowly walked over, "Hello, welcome to your visit. What service would you like this time?" Duogu spoke without any fluctuation in tone, neither warm nor distant.
For an Undead, such an expression was normal.
The visitor was still Morale, who nearly always dealt with these transactions.
"Hello, Lord Duogu, I’m here to hire more troops, but I’m not sure if you can provide such a large force, so the Commander asked me to come and see for myself."
Duogu spoke indifferently, "Any amount of troops is available, but can you provide the price?"
"The price is no problem, we have cooperated for so long and have always settled the amount on time, haven’t we?"
Duogu tilted his head slightly, "That’s correct. Given your terms, we could actually increase our cooperation. If you continue to hire us, we can provide a larger number of Bronze and Silver level Combat Power."
Morale’s eyes flashed, surprised that they could offer more—this power was more formidable than he had imagined.
Such strength is definitely not something that a mere desert could foster, not even the undead.
"So, is there mightier power available? You know, over at the New Moon Kingdom, the strongest have Gold-level power, and not in small numbers." Morale himself was accompanied by several Gold-level individuals.
Duogu still spoke in the same tone as before, "Gold-level can be done, but it’s going to be expensive."
With a wave of Duogu’s hand, a group of Skeleton Flying Dragons came flying over, their terrifying aura erupting to announce their immense power. The Golden Knights at Morale’s side immediately took a defensive position in front of him.
"Stand back, stand back, Lord Duogu won’t harm me."
Morale was shocked within, had they been prepared with so much Gold-level Combat Power all this time?
Moreover, this was not ordinary power; these were Bone Series Dragons. Dragons were one of the strongest beings amongst all creatures, and even as Undead, they would not be overly fragile. If a battle were to erupt, his team of Golden Knights might not even handle one of these Dragons.
With such a force at their disposal, this power was indeed extraordinary.
Looking again at Duogu, who had merely Bronze-level Combat Power—clearly, he was just a lackey and not the true leader of this power. Their real leader was not so easy to meet after all.
