Chapter 180: Chapter 180 Planning for the Highland

"Fang Jie had contained his joy and then stepped out.

He had long wanted to recruit these military men under his command. In matters of war, they were undoubtedly superior to anyone else. The most crucial point was that they were trustworthy, with no need to worry about the possibility of betrayal.

At the very least, they were more reliable than the troops under Qin Lan.

Fang Jie had already decided to make these soldiers his direct subordinates. Until now, aside from Skeletons, Fang Jie had no other normal creatures under his command, but finally, that era was about to end.

Fang Jie flew toward the North, and from that direction, an endless stream of Undead Creatures also arrived.

A massive number of Undead Creatures passed through the Fortress Territories and appeared at the front lines, setting up camp.

Seeing this scene, the Trolls in the forest opposite became frustrated. These were all bones, not food; they couldn’t be eaten. Fighting brought no benefits, yet these creatures were protecting the food.

It was as if the Undead were competing with them for food.

They had just fought a battle and didn’t want another so soon, especially since they still had food, didn’t they?

However, as the number of Undead grew, the Trolls’ mood gradually changed. There were so many Undead that one couldn’t see the end of them - it felt as though there were even more of them than of the Trolls themselves.

For any creature, the Undead were mortal enemies; this was undeniable.

They were usually too lazy to deal with them because they posed no threat. But with numbers reaching this extent, even the simple-minded Trolls couldn’t ignore it.

Thus, the Trolls began to contact other tribes, urging them to convene here.

The Trolls’ numbers continued to increase, and the Undead kept coming in greater numbers, too, with both armies facing each other in the open space in-between.

"How impressive, to gather such a vast army. How many are there exactly?"

"I’m not sure of the exact number, but I know their Black Iron level troops outnumber our regular army by a lot - probably several hundreds of thousands," replied a soldier who had been keeping count.

"The Bronze Soldiers are also extraordinary, always counted in the tens of thousands. Although the troops are different, I suspect that their number of Bronze Soldiers might well exceed that of our regular army."

"No way, more than two hundred thousand Bronze Soldiers? How long would it take to produce that many?"

They had Bronze Soldier buildings, but even with sufficient Resources, production required time.

They hadn’t realized it before, but when manufacturing on a large scale, the time constraint became evident. Unless they built several identical structures simultaneously - but what about other resources? That would consume so much.

"I heard there are even Gold Troops, which is terrifying."

"That means we are saved, those Trolls won’t be a match for us."

"Indeed, but from now on, we are no longer a nation’s army; we’ve become a private force." Some were unhappy with the sentiment; after fighting for the country for decades, they had become, in the end, a private army.

Anybody would feel choked up about that.

"Regardless, at least it keeps us alive. Ah, I wonder how the rest of my family is doing. In this world, you really never know if you’ll make it through the day." Someone started to miss their family.

It wasn’t just about life and death; there was absolutely no news.

"Look, there he is!" Suddenly, someone pointed to the sky. The sky was filled with Mechanical Flying Eagles, surrounded by numerous White Bone Vultures and Stone Statue Ghosts. The only person with such an entourage was Fang Jie.

At least in their area, they hadn’t heard of anyone else who could make such a stir.

After landing, the first to disembark were thirty-six Golden Troops, the Blood Servants. Fang Jie, though he trusted these soldiers, wasn’t about to let his guard down completely.

The best way to ensure your subordinates’ loyalty is to give them no chance to betray you.

Seeing Fang Jie’s arrival, Li Mingshu hurried over. "Lord, you have arrived, please come with me, we have already prepared a banquet." Not knowing what sort of person Fang Jie was, they had no choice but to prepare in this way.

"No need to be so formal, just call me by my name from now on. As for the banquet, it can wait until after the battle is over," Fang Jie’s response made the people around him feel considerably better.

"But that wouldn’t be right; we have ranks and hierarchy, we can’t just call you by your name. How about we call you Commander instead?"

Fang Jie thought it over; it was indeed the continuation of a legacy. "Alright, suit yourselves. What’s the situation at the front now? How many Trolls are there in total?"

"We’re not sure of the exact total, but putting them all together, they could exceed two million, possibly even more."

This was based on their scouting and estimates, but without sophisticated means, they could only survey a rough idea. The margin of error could be very large, especially since they had no idea how large the highland was.

Fang Jie nodded, no matter the number, they were no match for him.

"Don’t worry, I’ve brought a force of over ten million this time; I will assuredly sweep clean all those Trolls." Hearing this figure, everyone first gasped, then felt reassured.

With such an enormous force, this was all combat power. If this couldn’t ensure victory, it would be a total waste.

If these were troops from other races, they would need substantial logistical support. But these Undead had nearly no logistical needs. Just carrying extra Arrows would suffice.

"So, Commander, what do we do with those Territories?"

Fang Jie had come prepared: "Most of those Territories can be destroyed; such a small area can’t accommodate so many Territories. I plan to leave one Human Territory and one Beastman Territory here, but the main focus will be the development of the Human Territory. Once the Beastman Territory is developed to town level, I’ll relocate it and take it with me."

One territory per region was sufficient for development. Besides, these Beastmen weren’t Beast-ear Girls; they weren’t pleasant to look at, so there was no need to develop them.

The troop types of the Human Territory weren’t weak, and they were nicer to look at. It was better to develop them.

The Beastman Territory could remain for the time being - develop it if needed, otherwise, let it be.

"If there are other rare types of Territories, keep them as well, but don’t develop them for the moment. We will see if we need them later."

Li Mingshu was watching closely and nodding, though somewhat reluctantly, he knew Fang Jie was right. Developing one territory as opposed to many others pretty much yielded the same effect, but the wastage of resources was different.

Even they had only developed two Territories, hadn’t they?

"From now on, you will be in charge of this highland region. There’s no need to split up your troops; keep them together, and report directly to me."
