Chapter 161: Chapter 161 Reorganizing the Army for a Comeback

It must be said that when it comes to their own interests, the nobles act very quickly.

The very day the order was issued, even before the appointment letter was in hand, those nobles had already come knocking. Leading the charge were Erminuo and Duojia, along with many others who brought various materials and Gold Coins.

"They’re really quite prompt," a subordinate muttered under his breath.

"Do you think they’re just twiddling their thumbs? They’re demanding that we fulfill our promises. After all, we’re merchants; if we can’t deliver, the appointment we secured earlier might well go down the drain."

"Before the appointment letter is handed over, a noble’s appointment can be retracted—just a suitable excuse is needed. We don’t have powerful backers and are not of noble birth; such tactics are most fitting to use against us."

Jia Siwei understood these things all too clearly; after all, he had originally planned to become a noble himself.

So, what came next was the crucial trade. If they couldn’t make the exchange, then they would be the ones out of luck. Not only would they have no achievements to their name, they might even be slapped with some sort of crime.

"Hmph, we were always capable of pulling it off," everyone trusted Fang Jie.

Jia Siwei came out, talked a bit, and then the anxious nobles hurriedly took him to a more secluded place.

There was something resembling a military camp here, complete with Functional Buildings. Of course, such buildings—being discovered out in the open and available for just anyone to use—would be strange indeed, unless they were in the midst of a city, those already public, special buildings.

However, this place lacked troop buildings, which were not so easily preserved.

"This is the place, let’s begin."

Jia Siwei nodded, then walked to the market area, where he could now use the discussion function.

"Lord, Lord, are you there?" Jia Siwei prayed. If Fang Jie wasn’t there and he couldn’t get in touch, the nobles’ trust in him might fall, some may even think he was playing them for fools.

Fang Jie wasn’t busy at the Lord Mansion, immersed in his research. He was alerted to Jia Siwei’s contact immediately. "What’s happening? I hear you’ve been earning quite some merits over there."

"Indeed, indeed, thanks to your blessing, the nobles are all crowding around me right now, looking to buy Puppets."

Fang Jie nodded, "I’m prepared. Unlimited quantities of low-level inferior Puppets can be produced, and Wooden Puppets can be produced in large quantities. However, I can’t give out too many Stone Puppets and Iron Puppets."

Although Fang Jie had made quite a few himself, he didn’t want them to be sold off in large numbers.

The strongest military force in his Territory were these Puppets. While he needed to strategize, he was acutely aware that power was most important. Selling off his High-Level military force was no longer a wise choice.

If it weren’t for the prospect of a better future, Fang Jie would never do such an about-face.

Now, though, these goods could be sold, but the quantity had to be strictly controlled.

"Don’t worry, I’ve already negotiated with them; here’s the list," Jia Siwei quickly wrote out the list. Since they were communicating through the discussion area, people outside were unaware of what they discussed.

Many nobles stared with wide eyes in their direction, trying to get a clear view. Some, by now, grew rather impatient.

"Good, I got it," Fang Jie saw the prompts below from Jia Siwei. There was a standard pricing table and a plan by Jia Siwei himself.

In fact, the treasures brought were being sold to Jia Siwei at a standard price, but he had surreptitiously raised the price before selling to Erminuo and Duojia at the new price.

Along with Jia Siwei, these two also marked up the price before telling the others.

To them, the price seemed only a little high, but in the midst of war, they were not only willing to accept it but also felt the seller was very generous.

Usually, during war, the price of selling Puppets could easily increase by more than fivefold.

Of course, this was referring to standard market price, not the manufacturer’s price.

So, by this ratio, some of the cases brought by Duojia and Erminuo were actually disguised and empty, which was to show other nobles that they had brought much. In reality, they used their profit margins to buy even more Puppets for themselves.

Unbeknownst to them, Jia Siwei did the same, as he brought even more disguised cases.

Seeing these goods, the nobles’ thoughts changed. Given such wealth displayed by a would-be noble, one could only imagine what he could achieve in the future.

As such, some who had formerly looked down on Jia Siwei were already contemplating how to get on good terms with him.

Jia Siwei was unconcerned. After Fang Jie approved the goods, he simply placed everything in the trading area.

Since the trading zone could only be used once a day, it seemed unlikely that the others would wait in the market for shipments. Besides, the trading area required no tolls and was beneficial to both sides.

Just like that, a mass of materials vanished, replaced by a multitude of Puppets.

"It will take a while, since there’s a weight limit to these trading zone transactions. The rest of the Puppets will be delivered via market shipment," the apparent unreachable weight limit had been met.

But as they saw the Puppet troops, others were much reassured.

"No problem, you said it wasn’t far, they’ll certainly arrive within two days."

This was a reminder, hinting at trouble should the goods not arrive. Jia Siwei just smiled slightly, as his status had now changed. He no longer needed to grovel; he merely had to appear approachable.

As it turned out, there was no need to wait two days; by the afternoon, the goods had arrived. Seeing the vast Puppet troops, everyone smiled.

"Remarkable, truly worthy of a Hero, this status is impressive," praised the nobles.

"I don’t think it’ll be long before you become one of the High-Level nobles. Having money and being able to buy military force is not something ordinary people can compare with." Everyone looking at Jia Siwei showed a friendly smile.

"Oh, it’s nothing; everyone is flattering me. Let’s distribute these Puppets first. Aren’t we planning a counter-offensive? Before that happens, we should get our forces and coordination in order."

Hearing this, everyone was happy. They were here for these forces, after all. Without needing any prodding, they all quickly made their way outside.
