Chapter 152: Chapter 152: The Unscientific Winter

Fang Jie looked into the distance, speechless. Despite the small snowflakes, the ground turned white very quickly.

No, it wasn’t just the ground; even the distant terrains were the same, as if they had suddenly transformed into winter. He didn’t know how the thick layer of snow on the trees had formed; it seemed as though it had grown on its own.

Looking at the stream, it was also freezing rapidly, and the surrounding temperature visibly dropped.

He exhaled, and his breath turned white.

"If I didn’t have the strength of the Bronze level, this temperature would probably freeze me solid," Fang Jie said.

Nevertheless, soon Fang Jie looked toward the sea with some concern; he worried that the sea would freeze over, which could cause trouble. He then contacted Qin Shulan.

Qin Shulan immediately replied, "I’ll head to the beach right away."

Fang Jie also stepped out and ran over to his dock. "It seems it’s not completely the same; some natural laws are still at play," he observed as he watched the lake, where the edges had frozen but the center remained unaffected.

He wondered if it would fully freeze over in a few days, which would be a hassle.

Suddenly, a Heavy Transport Ship was built, and following prior rules, it headed toward the river.

The river had fully frozen over. But before Fang Jie could organize anything, he found that the ship had already started moving over it, breaking the ice. After the ship passed, the ice slowly began to re-form.

"This thing can actually be used as an icebreaker; does it have that much weight?"

Normally, it wasn’t noticeable. It seemed this was a hidden capability of the transport ship.

However, Fang Jie soon realized that his small fishing boat couldn’t break through the ice and could only wait here. He had to wait for a new Heavy Transport Ship to break the ice before he could follow.

Back in his territory, news from Qin Shulan had already arrived.

"The dock has not frozen over, and only some areas near the sea have frozen, deeper regions are unaffected. The Heavy Transport Ship can break the ice, so the transportation of troops will not be affected."

Fang Jie nodded; the situation didn’t seem too bad.

As for the dock, it seemed to inherently possess a special ability which prevented its surrounding area from freezing.

He always thought that functionality was trivial, but he hadn’t expected to need it so soon. If the dock had frozen over, transporting troops and other materials would have been difficult.

But looking around, everything still seemed peaceful; there weren’t any issues.

Before long, Qin Lan’s message also came. "Is Fang Jie there? Winter has arrived, and it’s causing big problems."

"What’s the matter? Are there more problems? Is it a shortage of winter supplies? But that’s not right; didn’t we prepare those well in advance?" Those supplies were prepared for other races.

The Undead didn’t need them, and according to the natives from the desert region, they seemingly didn’t need much either; the region was inherently hot. Even in winter, it merely became a bit cooler and more comfortable.

It was the regular Lizardmen, his own local natives and the Earth people, along with the Elf Race from the Affiliated Territory, who needed these winter supplies.

"It’s not about supplies; our production capability has changed,"

"I just went out to check; regular land can no longer be cultivated or planted on, only those agricultural buildings we created before can be used for planting."

"That’s not bad, right? At least we’re not lacking anything."

Qin Lan nodded, "That’s good, I’m referring to the changes."

"Our farms now produce half as much, and growth speed has slowed down by half, which means overall production is only a quarter of what it was before."

So that was the situation, Fang Jie thought, but he had created many farms before, so a shortage wasn’t an issue.

"Moreover, after each harvest, the farms must be replanted within a day, otherwise they will be destroyed. This destruction is absolute, disappearing completely, and come spring we would need to rebuild them, otherwise they’ll be as good as barren lands."

Fang Jie didn’t expect Qin Lan to have made such extensive experiments in such a short time. Really impressive.

"What about the fish farms?" Fang Jie thought for a moment, then decided to ask Qin Shulan.

"I just checked; fish growth rates have slowed by about thirty percent, but there are no other changes. It might be because this is deep within the sea, so the changes are less significant."

It’s not scientific at all, Fang Jie thought. "What about the other environments outside the fish farm?"

"It’s too soon to tell, but I think the impact there might be bigger. There’s a reduction in surface life; many fish have moved to the deeper parts of the sea, which have actually become more prosperous."

That was a sort of natural selection, Fang Jie thought, somewhat perplexed.

"Now that winter has arrived, many areas are beginning to lack various materials, including food. If managed well, we could potentially exchange for quite a bit. I’ll try to see if I can exchange those materials for the map of the Undead Camp Sailor Camp."

"Sailor Camp? From the Undead Camp, how much are they asking?" It was something only he could use.

"They initially said ten million Gold Coins for their armor and wanted a complete fleet. I plan to leave them hanging for a while. Now that winter is here, right, tell people not to film the video of the transport ship breaking the ice for now."

Thinking of something, Qin Lan suddenly reminded him. "Let them think our ships can’t be used in winter, to intensify their urgency." Qin Lan was very familiar with capitalizing on opportunities.

"I see, I’ll tell them right away," Qin Shulan quickly said.

"If that’s the case, you guys continue monitoring and gather various information. I’ll go check on the desert area."

In the desert area, controlled by Duogu from Quicksand Village, a Skeleton General, the proactive initiative was much weaker. When Fang Jie inquired, the response was that he knew nothing.

"Never mind, go out and observe now, and have the Desert Snake-men come out to feel it too. Report the details to me later." These Undead were really single-minded, always unaware of change.

If they were normal creatures, surely they would have developed some level of skill over such a long time.

Duogu quickly acknowledged understanding and then went out. Meanwhile, Fang Jie waited here.

The change of a season had brought about too many changes. Looking at the discussion section, there were less idle talks now, and instead, there were more calls for help. Many didn’t realize winter was coming until it was upon them.
