Chapter 150: Chapter 150: Buildings Restricted by Territory
"Although the attacks of Silver Hero Units are useless against warships, that doesn’t mean warships are useless."
After experimenting, Fang Jie didn’t believe the warships were invincible. After all, they were only silver-level, and there certainly would be other methods to counter them, something Fang Jie didn’t doubt at all.
Even so, if he could assemble a fleet, it would be sufficient to dominate the seas without the presence of Gold Level enemies. With these ships, he could develop the coastal areas faster and bring them under his control.
The price wasn’t much of an issue either. A Skeleton General cost twenty thousand spirit points each, while this only required ten thousand. It seemed the ships had more of a demand for materials than for spirit points.
Of course, this didn’t mean the warships were cheap because this was just the price for the construction of the warship itself.
These ships didn’t require maintenance, but the repairs after combat would incur new costs. Plus the sailors—if normal sailors were used, the expense would likely far exceed the cost of the ships themselves.
Fang Jie put those thoughts aside for the moment and decided to just make some first.
Fang Jie looked at the last ship, the Sargassum Ghost Ship, which was also made yesterday, and it was even cheaper.
The Sargassum Ghost Ship was clearly geared toward the Undead, probably because it was a loot drop from his own battle. In a sense, it could be said to be a Ghost Ship.
It looked tattered and worn as if it had been submerged at sea for many years, ready to collapse at any moment.
Seeing it in such a condition, no one would want to board it, even knowing it was made in their own Territory and completely harmless to them. But judging by their reactions, everyone was spooked by the ship.
Even Fang Jie felt a bit spooked himself, experiencing a chill all over his body.
Qin Shulan grabbed the oblivious Liu Yuanyuan, who was the only one there not affected and was instead eager to take a look. "Didn’t you see the way it looks? It’s a Ghost Ship, an omen of bad luck."
"Ah, really? Well, good to know." Liu Yuanyuan, having finally caught on, patted her chest with a frightened expression. Those around her just shook their heads in disbelief; her thought processes were truly unusual.
"Alright, it’s fine. It’s just a bit mysterious. Let’s see what its capabilities are."
Hearing Qin Lan’s words, Fang Jie coughed and then spoke, "It is indeed akin to a Ghost Ship, but not quite one. Its abilities? It has Concealment, Underwater Navigation, and Water Algae Entanglement."
Qin Lan nodded, using conversation to ease the awkwardness and mystery. "Concealment is straightforward—stealth. Underwater Navigation means it can move underwater, I suppose. But what about Water Algae Entanglement? Does it attack with algae?"
Fang Jie nodded, "Indeed, it uses algae to attack. The ability of the Sargassum Ghost Ship is to control sargassum, though I’m not sure about the strength. But one advantage of this ship is that it doesn’t need a crew."
He paused before speaking again, "No, that’s not right. It doesn’t need a traditional crew. It appears this ship can only recruit souls, developing a certain level of thought—considered a special type of troop."
"A special troop type makes sense. Let’s conduct some tests to see the specifics."
As Fang Jie nodded, he ordered people to carry out the tests.
The result of the experiment showed that the Sargassum Ghost Ship was incredibly fast, outpacing even the quickest three-masted capsize. The ship was between seventy to eighty meters long, and the algae wasn’t a burden to its own body.
During an attack, it could generate a massive amount of algae to carry out group attacks. The range was limited, but the intensity was enough to entangle Silver Level combatants, although killing them wouldn’t be easy.
This attack method seemed more like support. If there were other combatants nearby, it would be easier to defeat the enemy.
The algae were quite special, with a certain psychic effect.
The Ghost Ship wasn’t as strong as the warship; a Silver Level attack could pose a threat to it.
But this ship was after all a kind of assassin among ships, able to launch direct attacks from underwater. Whether using the algae to slow the enemy’s speed or drag them underwater, it was very effective.
"If there was a large number of Sargassum Ghost Ships together, forming a sea of sargassum algae, it would be a disaster on the sea."
Qin Lan spoke as she observed its abilities.
Fang Jie agreed completely, but why make so many? He had no plans to create some sort of mysterious legend on the high seas. A few of these ships should be enough for support in battle.
"It’s a pity that these can’t produce Elites or Heroes."
"Come on, this is already impressive. Anyway, weren’t there two more types of ships that you said would take a few days?"
Fang Jie spread his hands, "No need to wait a few days, these are the last ones."
"What do you mean?" Before arriving here, Fang Jie clearly mentioned there were eight new types of ships, so why were there only six?
Fang Jie was somewhat helpless, "Two are Gold Level, which I can’t produce yet." He didn’t explain much, and the others didn’t ask further, but the Gold Level stuck in their minds.
Fang Jie felt helpless; this was the first construction in his hands that was restricted by the Territory level.
Town-level architecture corresponds to the highest level of construction and troops being Silver, so normally Gold Level constructions can’t be built, like the Nether God Tower.
Unless he upgraded to a city level, then it would be possible.
But that didn’t need upgrading, it was basically an instant upgrade situation.
The shipyard wasn’t bad; it covered all sorts of low-level scenarios directly but he could only upgrade it to level 9 at most, not the highest level 10. He couldn’t unlock the Gold Level ships either.
Not until his Territory was upgraded to a city could he build the remaining Ghost Ships and marine fortresses.
But why worry so much? The previous ships already met all his expectations.
It was just disheartening to see something that belonged to him but not be able to actually produce it. Human desires are never easily satisfied, Fang Jie thought.
"Okay, everyone has seen the ships. After returning, plan out the usage well. The upcoming battle with Flower Plateau will need your strength."
"Don’t worry, with these, we simply can’t lose the war." Qin Shulan was full of confidence.
Qin Lan also said, "I’ve been in contact with some of my kin on the Flower Plateau recently. They also despise the Vampires, and it’s perfect to have them lead the way."
"That’s great; it will be an inside and outside cooperation."
At this moment, Qin Lan spoke again, "We can’t fully trust them, but they can be useful for certain things."
