Chapter 121 The Southern Underground Black Market
Chapter 121: Chapter 121 The Southern Underground Black Market
The battle ended, and Fang Jie opened the chest he had obtained; the most valuable item was a bronze-level Soldier Card. Two hundred Skeleton Generals, which, given his current military strength, was marginally better than nothing.
Resigned, Fang Jie carefully stored it and decided to keep it on his person.
"The matters here are concluded, so I’ll leave the next steps in our development to you."
Qin Shulan quickly bowed, "My lord, please rest assured, I will not let you down."
Fang Jie frowned, this respectful attitude made him quite uncomfortable. Unbeknownst to him, he had become a person of importance, he mused with some emotion.
Yet, it didn’t matter; even if he said something, the other party would probably overthink it.
He decided not to say anything more and simply nodded, "That will be all, then."
Afterwards, Fang Jie turned to Qin Lan, "Have you confirmed the location of the Black Market, and what exactly is the situation?"
Fang Jie was preparing to go to the Black Market, and Qin Lan had already made preparations, it was natural that she wouldn’t be unprepared. Glancing over, Qin Shulan tactfully took her new subordinates and left the area.
Fang Jie was rendered speechless for a moment, but fortunately, in this world where force reigned supreme, they were all under the control of his lordship.
Under normal circumstances, a leader like him would have long been overthrown by Qin Lan. Indeed, he realized he was significantly lacking in this respect.
Yet now, Fang Jie wasn’t too worried; after all, his strength was sufficient to guarantee that no one could betray him.
Besides, Qin Lan’s Territory had already become an Affiliated Territory of his. If Qin Lan dared to betray him, she would have to abandon her Territory and would be left with nothing.
As for whether there were other methods, neither Fang Jie nor Qin Lan knew for certain.
"I’ve already found out about the Black Market underground; although these markets are nominally unmanaged, in reality, they’re backed by powerful forces—the ones who reap the most benefits."
"The Black Market underground is backed by an alliance of Humans and Beastmen; the Undead Camp doesn’t like hosting them."
An alliance between Humans and Beastmen, now that was indeed odd.
However, on their level, any racial alliance seemed normal. As long as it wasn’t overt and they didn’t directly clash, they would not easily break these rules.
"Okay, I’ve got it. We’ll go take a look; there are some things we need to prepare."
There was no helping it; many high-end items simply weren’t easy to come by. Even if one could loot Treasure Boxes from battles, one couldn’t gather everything as those chests were regulated.
Therefore, interacting with others was the best way to secure various Resources.
"Let’s conceal our identities and use Puppets for the job."
Fang Jie, an Undead Mage, knew his own Meditation Method was obviously advanced, and as long as he didn’t act, he wouldn’t be discovered. Besides, he was still a Human by identity.
Even as an Undead Mage, he belonged to the Human Faction and could not be categorized within the Undead Camp.
Qin Lan was even less worried, for she was an Elemental Master, and she already had some Elf Bloodline.
Anybody would consider Qin Lan to be a Half-Elf. The line of Elves was basically unlikely to join the Undead Camp, nor align with evil characters—at least generally speaking.
"Right now, the Gold Coins I have that are accepted come to about two million, and I’ll bring ten million native Gold Coins; that should be enough."
Native Gold Coins were made directly from Gold, and now that he had mines, there was no shortage. But those specially recognized Gold Coins, that was beyond his capability.
After all this time of looting and fighting, he had managed to gather only two million so far.
Of course, Fang Jie used Spirit Points more, something others wished they had.
"Let’s bring some more things then. It’s best to buy and sell. Maybe we can set up a permanent presence in that Black Market," Qin Lan thought differently from Fang Jie, considering it a potential outpost for herself.
After deciding, the two began preparations.
However, as Qin Lan had many things to prepare, it took them a full two days to set off. They travelled directly on Mechanical Flying Eagles, bringing along more than two hundred of them.
They also brought along five hundred Black Iron-level Stone Puppets.
Ever since obtaining the Storage Crystal, Fang Jie had upgraded the Alchemy Workshop to level 7, and the newly crafted Stone Puppets were all of level 7. These Stone Puppets served dual purposes, both as protection and as merchandise.
If anyone took an interest, Fang Jie would not be stingy about selling them.
"This is the place." After flying for most of the day, Qin Lan pointed down to the spot on the map.
Looking down from the sky, Fang Jie noticed that the location was just an inconspicuous hillside, with plenty of wild beasts and Magic Beasts around. The place was truly well-hidden.
Fang Jie didn’t sense anything peculiar and trusted Qin Lan’s judgment.
A large number of Mechanical Flying Eagles descended from the sky, causing the beasts and Magic Beasts below to display aggression.
Moments later, Qin Lan raised an invitation high, and the Magic Beasts and wild beasts quickly dispersed. A few minutes afterward, a nearby rock moved aside, revealing an entrance.
It was unclear how they verified their identities, and no one was there to receive them.
The two, wrapped tightly so as not to reveal their identities, entered the Black Market through the stone passageway with their Puppets and Mechanical Flying Eagles.
"I’ll go rent a trading booth; if you want to buy anything, head over there. We’ll act separately."
Fang Jie nodded; there was no need to stay together. Many people at this place had Bodyguards, and those were manufactured troops. It was evident that they all had Territories behind them.
"It seems in the native world, Territories are not scarce. Indeed, we must be more discreet."
He had no idea how long others had developed their Territories, but Fang Jie was certain he was no match for them. He brought bronze-level Bodyguards, but it was different for others—the weakest were at the Silver Level.
There were many with Gold Combat Power, and even higher levels which Fang Jie had not seen.
He wondered if they couldn’t produce them, or if it was because he didn’t have enough qualifications; however, soon, Fang Jie’s attention was captured by the merchandise at a nearby booth.
