Chapter 1594: 1482, the second core data was stolen
There are a total of four data cores scattered outside the Hymn—two in the Milky Way, and the other two in the Holy Silver Star System.
Su Yu’s goal this trip is to first locate the two in the Milky Way.
So far, only one has been found, and the situation regarding the other seems quite grim.
But no matter what, they have to grit their teeth and press on to see what’s really going on.
...
Two more years passed.
On another desolate planet, a thin, gaunt figure appeared.
Perched on the shoulder of this figure was a cat—this was, of course, Su Yu.
But this time, Su Yu was radically different from before:
The last time, although Su Yu traveled through more than a dozen destinations, he remained completely unharmed, his spaceship intact, and any enemies encountered were swiftly obliterated. Even tougher foes were swiftly dealt with by the Hymn.
This time, however, Su Yu arrived at the destination with half his body scorched black. The clothing on his left arm and left leg had been completely burned away, his right arm bore scars from previous injuries, and near his fist was a ten-centimeter wound.
This wound was coated with a faint green substance, which gleamed ominously, actively combating Su Yu’s body. This made it impossible for the injuries to heal—or at least to recover quickly.
Cat Morning Star fared slightly better; her fur was glossy, and from outward appearances, she didn’t seem to be hurt at all.
But Su Yu knew she had sustained quite severe internal injuries.
If not for Su Yu shielding her with his own body two months ago, Morning Star would undoubtedly have lost her life.
Su Yu and Morning Star weren’t even the worst off.
The worst was the ship they had purchased—it had been completely wrecked en route.
To continue their journey, they had no choice but to buy another.
Now, they were piloting a silver spaceship, 107 meters in length, equipped with top-tier configurations. Within the Feiyu Hub, it was regarded as one of the finest vessels available.
The Feiyu Hub was the nexus containing the second data core, ranked 32nd in the Milky Way in terms of overall strength, situated on the system’s outermost spiral arm.
After his first ship was destroyed, Su Yu purchased the second one at this very hub.
But even this ship met with misfortune.
Upon arriving at their destination, the ship’s front half was pitted with numerous craters of varying sizes, resembling the surface of Mars; an entire section of its rear wings was missing, its hull blackened and beginning to crack.
This ship was now on the verge of becoming scrap metal. If Su Yu hadn’t been utterly desperate for transportation, he would have abandoned it.
The miserable state of Su Yu and the ship made it undeniable: the battles they had faced on this journey were nothing short of brutal.
And that was very much the case. To locate the first data core, Su Yu endured 13 skirmishes; this time, the enemies they stumbled upon numbered a staggering 41 waves!
By the time they arrived, exhaustion overtook Su Yu, who sat on the ground unceremoniously and cursed under his breath, "Damn it, Hymn! You promised increased strength would protect us, didn’t you? Morning Star and I nearly died on the way here!"
The enemies they encountered along the way weren’t just numerous but exceptionally powerful—three of them were Planet Level 5 cultivators!
Fortunately, the people of Blue Star had contributed significantly—over four years of agricultural production had helped Su Yu boost his strength to Planet Level 5.
Without that, he likely wouldn’t have made it this far, and the odds of dying midway were frighteningly high.
The Hymn’s voice soon appeared: "Don’t worry. Morning Star still has seven lives left. As for you, you’re a four-dimensional being—ordinary three-dimensional creatures can’t kill you at all."
Su Yu snorted, "That’s a lousy excuse. ’Not being able to die’ and ’actually being alive’ aren’t the same thing!"
Indeed, ordinary three-dimensional lifeforms couldn’t kill Su Yu.
The moment Su Yu "died," the time around him within a certain radius would instantly freeze and rewind to an earlier state—as had happened when Su Yu was killed by the Skuru and Blue Star’s timeline rewound an entire year.
However, if he were killed midway during a mission, and time rewound while the past of that location didn’t include him, it would create an awkward predicament—he would end up fused with the nearest star system in his location, forever enduring eternal loneliness.
In such a scenario, though technically alive, it was indistinguishable from true death.
"Don’t worry. Even if I don’t get those data cores, I’ll still ensure you won’t die," assured the Hymn.
Before long, the Hymn manifested as her Holy Silver female avatar in front of Su Yu.
She didn’t even glance at the slumped figure of Su Yu but instead gazed forward.
But after only a single look, her expression instantly changed.
"Is this the place?" Su Yu, noticing the shift in her demeanor, immediately realized the location ahead must be where the second data core was housed.
Yet the area before them was barren and devoid of anything.
In other words, the core had already been stolen by the enemy?
The Hymn sighed deeply, "Ah, just as I suspected two years ago. Now it turns out I was right."
As the words fell, she swiftly unleashed her power, sending her data streams to envelope the entire planet.
Pale blue streams spread as fast as light, covering every inch of the planet’s surface within mere seconds.
Su Yu’s expression tightened, and he immediately released his own spiritual power to scour the globe.
If the core had been stolen, no amount of complaining would fix things—the focus now was on finding a way to remedy the situation.
Given that the enemies had been here, there might still be some traces left behind.
Thus, Su Yu and the Hymn simultaneously started their search, hoping to uncover some clue.
