Chapter 1561: 1449, Hub Chaos

Simon Herag was a cultivator at the peak of the Eighth Rank, currently residing in Gantek City within Star Zone 170.

Simon served as the deputy leader of the Fegg New Star Adventure Team and had once fought side by side with the legendary Councilor Su Yu, earning second place in the inaugural Security Bounty.

About three days ago, their adventure team had received an invitation from Lady Alyssa, the second-in-command of the Blue Star Adventure Group, to become an affiliated adventure team.

The entire team had been ecstatic at the news!

After all, who didn’t know what it meant to be associated with the Blue Star Adventure Group? Moreover, they had worked with the Blue Star Adventure Group numerous times over the past two years, reaping countless benefits.

Now, with the potential to officially join them, the team could hardly contain their joy!

But their celebration had barely begun when it felt like the sky came crashing down!

This very morning, the entire Star Zone 170 experienced violent tremors.

And this wasn’t just a localized event; the whole star zone was shaking!

Their Gantek City was over 3,000 kilometers away from Hemis City, so they didn’t know what had happened there. All they knew was that many Stellar Level bigshots had arrived, and the tremors had reached their peak.

Once these figures departed, the tremors gradually subsided.

However, the most concerning issue for everyone was that the AI Blue Whale suddenly became inoperable!

The AI Blue Whale’s shutdown triggered a network collapse across not just the city but the entire star zone.

For the residents of this star zone, especially those still haunted by PTSD over the previous disappearance of the Holy Song, it truly felt like the end of the world!

"Simon, the wristbands still aren’t working. What do we do now?" came the anxious voice of Janet, the team leader, from above Simon Herag in the team’s headquarters building.

"I don’t have any answers," Simon Herag replied as he flew out of the window and ascended several floors to the window of Janet’s office.

Stepping inside through the window, he said helplessly, "I just asked the subordinates, and their wristbands aren’t working, either. It looks like the AI Blue Whale has been attacked—likely paralyzed."

"This is bad." Janet slumped into her chair, rubbing her temples in frustration. "It’s exactly like when the Holy Song malfunctioned before. Why do we have to go through this again?"

"Everyone’s panicking," Simon Herag said, gazing out the window with a troubled expression.

Outside, Gantek City had descended into chaos. Citizens were in a frenzy, and the streets were filled with noise and commotion.

Even though Janet’s office was over seventy floors up, the noise outside was still clearly audible.

Beyond that, a sense of panic also shrouded the entire adventure team building. Members and staff remaining in the building hurriedly made their way to Janet’s office, their heavy footsteps echoing through the hallway outside.

"Simon, what should we do?" Janet asked worriedly. "Can we get in contact with the Blue Star Adventure Group?"

"We can’t," Simon Herag shook his head. "Not unless we can physically make our way there ourselves."

"It’s too dangerous to fly there right now... So what do we do now?"

"There’s nothing we can do but wait."

Janet and Simon Herag had no better ideas. The only option left was to anxiously wait in their headquarters.

This waiting dragged on for half an hour.

...

During this half-hour, they worked to calm the other team members and staff in the building, but beyond that, all they could do was endure the restless wait.

Meanwhile, a large crowd began to gather around the Holy Song Tower Square in the city center.

Janet and Simon Herag could hear the deafening commotion coming from the direction of the Holy Song Tower, occasionally accompanied by cries of anguish and wails.

However, they decided not to join the hubbub near the Holy Song Tower and remained at the building, helplessly waiting.

Fortunately, this unsettling state didn’t last for too long.

At the 34th minute since the disturbance began, a voice reverberated throughout the city sky.

The voice belonged to a young woman.

But as Simon and Janet heard it, they instantly recognized who it was!

"Residents of Star Zone 170, I am Alyssa, deputy leader of the Blue Star Adventure Group and wife of Councilor Su Yu," the voice introduced itself.

At the sound of that voice, the entire building fell silent.

Not only that—the ruckus from the direction of the Holy Song Tower also suddenly went quiet, as if someone pressed a pause button.

Janet and Simon Herag’s spirits lifted! They exchanged ecstatic glances, holding their breath as they awaited Alyssa’s next words.

But suddenly, a thought burst into their minds: "Why is Alyssa the one speaking? Where is Lord Su Yu? Wait, could something have happened to Lord Su Yu?"

Thankfully, before their imaginations could spiral further, Alyssa’s voice returned: "Earlier today, our star zone experienced a terrible upheaval. Jared Moglick, the chief scientist of the Hub and a Planet Level 5 powerhouse, betrayed the Hub and allied with a rebellious organization to orchestrate an attack. General Omir was severely injured, and the AI Blue Whale was infected with a dreadful data virus, causing it to crash."

"..." At these words, a cold chill swept through the hearts of every resident in the city.

It began with an earth-shattering piece of bad news.

The AI Blue Whale’s failure was now understood to be caused by this.

What shocked them even more was that Lord Jared had betrayed them?!

Simon Herag and Janet exchanged yet another glance, their eyes filled with indescribable astonishment.

This was the same Lord Jared who had once been the most dazzling figure in the Hub! The very idea of his betrayal was unfathomable.

Oh, heavens—how could this even be possible?

Their minds went completely blank until Alyssa’s voice rang out again:

"But everyone, please rest assured. The situation has been successfully brought under control. My husband, Su Yu, single-handedly defeated Jared and subdued the traitor. While the AI Blue Whale is down, we promise to fully repair it within a month. Please do not panic."
