Chapter 3043: A Strong Enemy
Chapter 3043: A Strong Enemy
The expressions on the faces of the guards also grew increasingly serious.
The small insect nests had extremely strong defense capabilities!
Even more terrifying was their vitality!
These insect nests seemed to absorb power from the creep-covered ground. Although their health had decreased slightly under the earlier attacks of Arrows of Natureand blood chunks had been struck out from their bodies, their damaged forms quickly healed at a speed visible to the naked eye!
They were not easy to deal with.
Lucien grew even more alert.
He had previously taken part in missions to eliminate the Seed of Ouroboros and naturally understood the strength of such threats.
The tumors before him could not even be considered true insect nests, merely ordinary Nests of Disaster whose primary role was to spread the creep. Their main bodies had nearly no attack power.
Even so, these Nests of Disaster had such terrifying defense and vitality that the true insect nests must at least be SS-level threats.
Rustling sounds suddenly came from the deeper part of the forest ahead, as if a large number of creatures were brushing across the creep-covered ground.
The accompanying guardian elder stared at the forest covered in creep in the distance and said in a low voice, "Your Highness, the mutant worms are coming. Please be cautious."
Whoosh! Whoosh whoosh whoosh!!!
Looking into the distance, a swarm of brown carapaced mutant worms quickly approached over the creep.
Such high speed!
The Elven soldiers immediately grew nervous.
Lickers were already fast, and with Fang Heng’s attribute bonuses, their speed among similar mutant creatures was top-tier. Now, with the additional movement boost from the creep!
They looked like dark shadows racing swiftly across the creep, charging at the elves’ defensive line!
The guard captain instantly tensed and shouted, "Protect His Highness!"
"Quick! Fall back!"
The Elven guards stepped forward to block in front of Lucien, organizing a retreat while firing Arrows of Nature at the incoming swarm.
"Bang! Bang bang bang!!!"
The concentrated Arrows of Nature exploded upon hitting the swarm!
The Elven soldiers’ expressions turned grim.
The mutant worms had similarly terrifying defense and regenerative abilities!
Even after the explosions from the arrows, the worms were merely knocked back temporarily, slightly delaying their advance.
What was even worse was the number of mutant worms!
So many!?
The first wave had yet to be fully dealt with when another dense swarm surged from the depths of the creep.
The elves, being experts in assassination and ranged attacks, would be in serious trouble if overwhelmed in melee combat.
"Retreat! Get out of the creep zone!"
The guards quickly protected Lucien as they withdrew until they exited the creep. When they saw that the mutant worms did not pursue beyond the creep, they felt slightly relieved.
Lucien’s face was pale, clearly frightened by the overwhelming swarm.
A guard saluted and said, "Your Highness, the mutant creatures are extremely powerful. Our forces alone can’t hold them. We need reinforcements and must find the swarm’s source to eliminate it."
Rustling sounds came again from the edge of the creep.
Lucien and the others paused, watching the spot where the noise came from.
They saw the mutant worms lying prone on the creep, their limbs undergoing strange mutations and embedding into the creep to stabilize themselves. From their backs, eerie cannon-like structures began to form.
"Not good!"
The captain of the guard, upon seeing the dark cannons forming on the Lickers’ backs, shouted, "Fall back quickly!"
Boom! Boom boom boom!!!
Two seconds later, thousands of dark red concentrated long-range blasts bombarded the retreating elves.
The nature barriers cast by the priests shattered in under half a second.
This was bad!
The guards’ expressions changed drastically.
"Quick! Protect the prince!"
From the shadows not far away, Fang Heng coldly observed the panicked elves.
That one...
He noticed an elf being well protected, seemingly someone of high status.
Whoosh!!!
A dark Underworld Orb emerged from the tattoo on Fang Heng’s shoulder and suddenly flew toward Lucien.
A guard sensed the incoming danger and shouted, "Watch out!!"
"Bang!!"
The aura of the undead exploded!
In the next moment, Lucien clutched his corroded shoulder, gritting his teeth, his forehead soaked in cold sweat.
"Retreat! Quick retreat!"
The guards immediately supported Lucien and pulled him back from the battlefield.
From a distance, Fang Heng watched the fleeing elves and shook his head slightly.
"So weak. How boring."
The elves had now confirmed the presence of mutant worm nests.
They would likely begin to believe the translations of the prophecy carved into the stone walls.
Fang Heng licked his lips and commanded the Lickers to continue expanding the nests and send more through Abe Akaya’s teleportation passage into the Elven world.
After completing this, Fang Heng returned in spirit form to the cave where Captain Kapa was.
...
Inside the cave.
Captain Kapa was drenched in sweat from anxiety.
He had hoped to use the excuse of needing rest to delay things after the previous translation.
Unexpectedly, he had barely laid down when he was roused again.
The Water Star Clan urgently summoned them back to the stone wall cave.
Doris and her group of elves soon returned as well.
This time, Doris looked at Kapa with a very different expression and immediately demanded he translate the part regarding the mutant worm disaster, wanting to know what would happen after the disaster’s descent and how the elves were supposed to respond.
Kapa could only agree and pretended to be translating the stone slab.
Meanwhile, more elves came in and out of the cave, reporting on the situation outside.
It was bad!
Doris could no longer hide her expression, which grew more and more serious.
It was confirmed that mutant worms of the Seed of Ouroboros had appeared in the Elven world.
Moreover, they were extremely powerful. Even Prince Lucien, who had led an exploration team, was seriously injured and brought back to the temple for treatment.
Doris noticed Kapa glancing at her from time to time, and her irritation flared. She lost patience and said coldly, "What? Is it that difficult? You’ve spent all this time and still haven’t translated even that little bit of information?"
