Chapter 34: I Can’t Wait to See How You’ll React When I Finally Let You Ride Me

Then he leaned forward. "I’m driving you."

I blinked again. "What?"

"I’m driving you," he repeated. "That’s the least I can do."

"Dom, it’s fine. I’ll just grab a bus..."

"No," he snapped. "I’m not letting you stand outside at night alone waiting for a bus when there’s literally a tattooed psycho out there who might want you dead."

I paused, biting my lip. "Okay."

Dominic slowly leaned back. "One breath at a time, remember?"

I managed the smallest smile. "One breath at a time."

I glanced back down at Mr. Sun’s text.

And for a split second, I wished more than anything that I could just... say no. That I could stay in this room a little longer, pretending my life wasn’t on fire.

But reality was waiting.

And bills didn’t pay themselves.

Dominic grabbed his keys, tossing them once in the air before catching them again.

"Come on, Rivera. Let me show you the good part."

I followed him out of his room, down a long hallway, our footsteps kept echoing on marble floors, until we reached a heavy steel door with a keypad beside it. He punched in a code so fast I couldn’t even catch the numbers.

A lock clicked open, and the door swung inward.

I stepped inside....and literally stopped breathing.

"Holy... shit," I whispered.

It was a garage.

Correction: a cathedral of cars.

It was like stepping into the world’s most glamorous car commercial.

There were rows of cars. Dozens of them. Maybe thirty or more. All different colors, shapes, styles. Cherry red sports cars. Sleek black SUVs. Vintage classics in creamy whites and bold yellows. Exotic hypercars with doors that opened like wings.

Everyone of them polished. It was so shiny I could see my own stunned reflection in them.

"Wow," I whispered, spinning around slowly. "Is this... a dealership or something?"

Dominic grinned and shoved his hands into his pockets. "Nope. Just the garage. My dad’s a collector. Obsessed, actually. I think he loves these more than he loves me."

"Dom, this is... insane. This is a car museum!"

He laughed softly. "Come on. Let’s pick one."

He led me down the row...

"That’s the Ferrari SF90 and the silver Lamborghini. Don’t touch it....they’re basically my sister’s first child. Over there, McLaren 720S. Fast enough to get us arrested. The Range Rover’s my everyday ride. Oh....and that’s my dad’s old Aston Martin, but he’d murder me if I put miles on it."

I gaped at a deep purple McLaren, practically drooling. "This is insane. I think I’m in love."

Dominic leaned in close.

"Careful, Rivera," he murmured. "If you’re falling in love over a car... I can’t wait to see how you’ll react when I finally let you ride me."

A shiver ripped through me so hard I nearly dropped my phone.

"Or, I could have you moaning in the passenger seat before we even hit the street."

What the hell?

His fingers trailed lightly down my arm. "Either way... I’d love to take you for a ride."

"Geez," I blurted nervously, I could feel the heat crawling up my neck. "You’re such a flirt."

Dominic grinned, leaning back just far enough to look me in the eyes.

"Baby, I’m not flirting. I’m giving you options." He smirked. "And for the record... I don’t say that shit to just anyone."

Wait...Was he serious? Was he into me? Was Dominic Vale... gay? Bi?

I stared at him, my heart kept racing.

Or was this just... Dominic being Dominic?

Was this how he flirt with everyone?

Because if it was... I was seriously, dangerously screwed.

I swallowed, suddenly aware of how close we were standing. How good he smelled. How my pulse wouldn’t chill the hell out.

We finally stopped in front of a gleaming silver Rolls Royce.

"Let’s go with this one. Gotta make a grand entrance."

I blinked at him. "Grand entrance? To go work a diner gig?"

He winked. "Ofc. Besides, if I’m gonna drive you somewhere, might as well look sexy while I’m doing it."

My cheeks flared so hot, I thought they’d catch fire.

He pressed a small button on the key knob, as the massive garage door began to rise. Cool air spilled in, brushing over my skin.

Dominic swung open the passenger door like a damn gentleman. "Your chariot awaits, princess."

"Princess?" I scoffed, trying not to laugh.

He leaned closer. "I could call you baby, but I’ll stick to Rivera for now."

I nearly tripped getting into the car.

I slid into buttery leather seats so soft it felt like sinking into a cloud. The interior smelled like new leather, cedarwood, and something expensive I couldn’t even name.

Dominic walked around, climbed into the driver’s seat, and shut the door.

For a second, he just sat there, watching me with a look that made my stomach twist.

Then, he leaned in.

Closer.

My breath hitched.

Oh my god. He was going to kiss me. I was panicking.

But instead, he calmly tugged my seatbelt across my chest and clicked it into place.

"There," he murmured, his fingers brushing my collarbone before he pulled away. "Safety first. Unless you want me driving like a maniac and putting those precious bones of yours at risk."

I exhaled so hard. "Holy shit, I hate you."

He flashed a wicked grin, pressing the start button.

"Buckle up, Rivera. I drive fast. And I make you nervous. Perfect combination."

The city lights blurred past us as Dominic steered the Rolls Royce out of the driveway and onto the main road.

I kept staring out the window, my thoughts were spiraling a million miles a minute.

About Dominic.

About how the seat beneath me felt softer than any bed I’d ever slept on.

God. I was sitting in a Rolls Royce. A freaking Rolls Royce.

How the hell did my life end up here?

How the hell was I riding in a car that probably cost more than my entire neighborhood?

And why did Dominic Vale keep glancing at me?
