After Steven and Zane left the restaurant, Cecilia approached a waiter and asked.

“Is the owner of this restaurant available?”

The waiter smiled as if anticipating her question.

“The owner mentioned that you will have the opportunity to meet later. We’re closing today, so we won’t be serving you.”

Cecilia frowned.

Meet later? She looked at her watch; it was not even two in the afternoon, yet the restaurant was already closing?

She had a bad feeling inside. After thinking for a moment, she replied politely, “Alright.”

Saying that, she glanced around the restaurant. Since Steven had booked out the entire place, there were no customers present with only a few waiters and a man performing on the piano.

Cecilia watched the man playing the piano, and her unease intensified. The man faced away from her, playing romantic melodies. By his piano was a white cane, seemingly oblivious to her gaze.

It seemed she was overthinking; he was merely a blind pianist.

Then, she turned and left.

After leaving the restaurant, she returned to the hotel. Emma was playing chess with Thomas at this time. Seeing Cecilia return, she quickly told Thomas she had something to do before closing the game. Right after that, she happily rushed into her mother’s arms.

“Mommy, you’re back!”

Cecilia picked her up like usual and kissed her on the cheek.

“Didn’t I ask you to play with Aunt Niki? How come you’re playing chess alone?”

Emma pouted and replied, “Aunt Niki heard there was a comic convention nearby and vanished in an instant!”

Cecilia shook her head in defeat.

“So, are you bored, Emma? Mommy will play with you.”

Excited, Emma shook her head.

“I’m not bored at all! Playing chess with Grandpa is so much fun!”

Grandpa? She couldn’t be referring to Frank; it must be someone she met online.

‘Oh well, as long as she’s happy.’

“By the way, it’s your dad’s birthday the day after tomorrow, Emma. We will go to his birthday party together.”

Emma’s eyes lit up at her words.

“Daddy’s birthday party! Wonderful!”

“So, what do you plan to give Daddy for his birthday?”

Emma tilted her head, in deep thought.

“To give a present is to give what you value most. Emma values Mommy the most. How about I give Mommy to Daddy?”

Cecilia felt a moment of exasperation. This little rascal.

“Alright then, you have two days to think about it. Let’s go out and play now!”

“Okay!”

That evening, Steven went home after finishing work. Just as he returned from the Science Museum, Alex coincidentally ran into him.

He picked Alex up with a hug and gave him several kisses on the cheek before setting him down, walking toward his room with a smile.

Alex was confused by Steven’s behavior; with him looking so cheerful and slightly flushed, he suspected Steven might be ill.

“Uncle Zane, what’s up with my dad?”

Zane scratched his head.

“Maybe it’s because his birthday is coming?”

Alex gave an “oh” and continued fiddling with the flight model he had brought from the Science Museum.

Suddenly, Steven brought out several suits from his room and asked Alex, “Son, which suit looks the best for the party?”

Alex showed a defeated look.

‘Dad usually isn’t interested in his birthday parties and even wants to cancel them all the time. Usually, Great Grandma is the one who always insists on celebrating it every year. What’s up with him, being so concerned about his outfit at the party this year?’

“Well... anything’s fine.”

Steven was slightly irritated by Alex’s nonchalant response. He glanced at Alex’s bored expression and remembered how Cecilia had been eager to meet Alex. If he remained indifferent toward her during the birthday party, considering how Cecilia was, she might not be interested in Alex anymore. Then, Steven wouldn’t have any reason to see her again.

He said to Alex, “Son, give me a smile.”

Alex was even more puzzled now.

“Uncle Zane, we can’t wait any longer; call Dr. Kent.”

Kent was Steven’s personal physician.

Steven was momentarily stunned, realizing he had been smiling ever since he got home. His behavior was indeed peculiar.

“Ahem, it’s late. You should wash up and go to bed.”

He turned and walked into his room, leaving Alex and Zane looking at each other in confusion.

“Uncle Zane, you’ve got a hard job.”

The time quickly came for Steven’s birthday. After waking up, Cecilia first asked for a leave for Emma before bringing her to Elena’s house.

As soon as they arrived at the house, they heard Elena and James sighing.

Cecilia thought their discussion with Grayson wasn’t going well for them, so she let Emma go inside to find Elena.

“Great Grandma! I’m here~”

Upon hearing Emma’s voice, Elena hurriedly wiped her eyes in panic.
