Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!

Chapter 97: D34. Fusion! _2

"Underground passage—"

The guild master was briefly stunned, first appearing thoughtful, then suddenly enlightened.

"I see! It’s the sewers, is it?"

He turned around anxiously, looking at his secretary, who was already serious and ready at all times.

"Hurry! Send the message! There are goblins in the sewers!"

"Sister Hero, are you saying there are goblins in the sewers!?"

The little girl, keenly watching the hero’s agitated sign language and barely understanding her meaning, was shocked, her pupils rippling like shaken red wine.

The hero nodded repeatedly.

"This—" The four guards present immediately adopted serious expressions.

Having all undergone strict military training, they naturally understood the gravity of the situation.

It was well-known that at the frontier, an underground building being overrun by magic creatures was often a harbinger of a fortress’s downfall.

Although this wasn’t a magic creature-infested border, nor was this town a heavily guarded fortress, not all town residents were professionals or fully armed soldiers.

If during such a lively festival, a horde of goblins suddenly emerged onto the streets, it was unimaginable what chaos and loss would ensue.

"I’ll notify the town mayor."

"I’ll return to contact the Warrior Guild and the Church."

"I’ll handle the other associations."

"I’ll accompany Miss."

Without a shadow of doubt in the hero’s words, the four guards coordinated their responsibilities.

The heroine nodded appreciatively at them.

The little girl clenched her fists, realizing that trying to stop the hero would be futile.

"Sister Hero."

She forced the tremor from her voice and looked at the hero with steely resolve.

"In the future, I’ll strive to become stronger, become a formidable professional, to support you—so you must return safely this time!"

The anger in the hero’s heart subsided for a moment as she smiled while gently stroking the girl’s silky black hair.

Then she turned and approached a nearby manhole, effortlessly lifting its cover.

A distinct sewage odor, mingled with the scent of goblins, assailed her nostrils, but the hero simply squinted her eyes, her expression unchanged.

Naturally, she, being unable to speak, had but one course of action—

To kill them all, leaving none alive.

Meanwhile, in the dark depths of the underground passage.

As a symbol of civilization, a city was more than just buildings and gathered people.

A qualified town必required all corresponding facilities. An underground sewage system was among these essentials.

When humans engaged in inevitable physiological activities, all manners of pollution accompanied, necessitating sewers for their management.

Hiring spellcasters and employing earth magic to carve a crisscrossing waterway underground was not a difficult task.

In larger, more bustling regions, the complexity of underground structures often rivaled those on the surface; in certain ancient cities, deep underground lay buried countless secrets.

The sewer system in this lakeside town might not yet reach that level, but the underground waterway connecting to the lake possessed a certain width.

Although activities in such spaces were impractical for tall humans, to the short-statured goblins, this wet, filthy, shadowy underground passage felt more welcoming than their forest homeland.

In the gloom, around three hundred pairs of famished, ravenous eyes reflected a fierce green glow as they crowded together.

They were the last of their kind.

In that vast, isolated forest, how many goblins had once roamed?

Renowned for their prolific breeding, goblins, even without other female organs as hosts, could reproduce asexually amidst a bath of magic elements.

The Arcane Surge could never be eradicated or ceased because magic creatures were born with the magic element. As long as nature’s cycle continued, these creatures would continually emerge.

Even in lifeless conditions, even a mere rock could transform into a magical creature in a magical element-rich environment, much like the gargoyle the hero once encountered.

In that expansive forest, goblins had once numbered in the thousands, with tribes exceeding two handfuls.

But under relentless pursuit from those abominable birds, the once blanket-like forest green skins were now whittled down to merely a few hundred.

In their desperation, some killed their own comrades as stepping stones for escape; others used their comrades’ corpses to stealthily attack those wretched birds.

These goblin remnants who walked out of the forest upon stepping over no less than a dozen of their kindred’s bodies during their endless flight could be considered elites of their tribes.

However, goblins were ultimately still goblins, no match for the bird magic creatures that had bathed in the Phoenix Fire.

They had reached their end of the line.

So now, these deranged goblins chose to aim their spears at human towns, which they once feared to invade at any cost.
