As the Hero’s consciousness struggled to swim upward from the Sea of No Dreams, a series of icy sensations, mingled with murmurs that were difficult to describe, transmitted into her mind through her lethargy.
"Miss Hero, hee hee, Miss Hero..."
???
The Hero was startled, hazily lifting her eyelids a sliver.
Gentle whispers reminiscent of warblers and swallows twined around her, coupled with a jade-like icy touch gently caressing her, occasionally interspersed with intoxicated murmurs and delighted whispers.
Everything around enveloped the Hero like a gentle and icy breeze in the summer.
"It’s really... warm."
"She truly hasn’t been affected at all!"
"Gently! Don’t wake her up!"
"This, this is the warmth of humankind... ha..."
"Wait, it’s my turn..."
"I, I also..."
"No, just a little longer..."
"Ah, she seems to have moved."
"Miss Hero, Miss Hero..."

2....What’s going on?

Below Ice Heaven Lake, in an ice house within the Jade Snake Snow Mountain, the residence of the Snow Women.
Though entirely constructed from ice and snow, the interior, layered with soft fur, was not exactly cold. Even ordinary humans, as long as they were well-prepared for the cold, could live quite comfortably inside.
At this moment, in the center of the largest ice house, nine Snow Women with skin as white as snow tinged with an icy blue hue, each with different postures, were cautiously and eagerly making contact with the black-haired girl asleep on the central bed.
These women, whose prowess enabled them to command the winds and summon the snow, were now all wearing expressions of infatuation and intoxication, as if attracted by some magic power, unwilling to leave, completely forgetting their usual calmness and restraint.
Although they lived deep within the Snow Domain of the Highlands, they weren’t unfamiliar with humankind; otherwise, the Snow Woman Clan wouldn’t have continued to this day.
But even when encountering humans, they had never been so out of character.
After all, if seeing humans always left them this involuntarily moved, the Snow Woman Clan would have either become very populous or been exterminated as magic creatures long ago, certainly not surviving in secluded small tribes like they did now.
Ignoring the Snow Woman Archer who had already been familiar with the human world, when the Hero initially arrived, their lack of special regard for her proved this point.
But that was because, at the time, they hadn’t understood the girl’s true power yet...
When the Hero revealed her Phoenix Power, destroying the Depraved Flame that had filled them with dread, and the Snow Woman Archer reluctantly unveiled her true strength, especially in light of the Hero’s resistance to the Snow Women’s chill...
To call her the darling of the Snow Women seemed an understatement.
Once one Snow Woman mustered the courage to touch the sleeping Hero, the situation escalated uncontrollably.
Surrounded by the merry sounds, just as the Hero was about to groggily open her eyes, a biting, genuinely murderous cold wind suddenly surged into the ice house, deftly bypassing the Hero while mercilessly sweeping at the nine Snow Women surrounding her.
They softly exclaimed and hopped back, eyes filled with surprise and reluctance.
"You all! Away! From her!"
The Snow Woman Archer rushed in, seeing the state they had devolved into after leaving her alone for a moment, she growled through gritted teeth.
"Hogging food!"
"Sister, you can’t do this."
"This is what humans call tyranny, I protest!"
"Sister, please, just a bit longer..."
"Even I haven’t... Oh, no!"
The Snow Woman Archer raised her hand, conjuring sharp-edged ice flowers, clearly prepared to show no mercy.
"She’s still resting, and this is how you treat our benefactor!?"
Her low voice scolded them angrily, instantly silencing the Snow Women, who awkwardly lowered their gazes to the snow beneath their feet.
Even though the Hero wouldn’t be harmed by their body temperature absorption, they were disturbing her rest, an indefensible breach of etiquette.
"Enough, you must learn to respect our guest."
Beside them, the Frost Matron stepped forward, her eyes lingering on the Hero’s slightly opened eyes for a moment, a strange look flickering across her gaze. She coughed lightly, her sharp eyes sweeping over the gathered Snow Women, her commanding voice echoing within the ice house.
"She is correct, Hero is a friend who came bearing our alliance, our lifeline saved alongside Lord White Snake.
"Your behavior, what is it really? What would Lord White Snake think if he saw this?
"She’s a human, a young girl at that, not even half the age of some of you. Should you take advantage of her slumber like this... even if she melts you upon waking, you’d deserve it."
Under the Frost Matron’s harsher admonishment, the Snow Women bowed their heads in shame.
Yet upon hearing "melt," for some inexplicable reason, excitement flickered in some of their eyes...
"Alright, anyway, such things are not to happen again, or else don’t blame me for acting."
The Frost Matron’s tone softened slightly.
"I understand your sentiments, but you must wait for the Hero to awaken and have her permission first."
Upon hearing this, the Snow Women nodded emphatically, then quietly withdrew one by one.
"Well then..."
The Frost Matron looked toward the now awake Hero, who sat upright slightly embarrassed, and smiled as she bowed.
"Good morning, Hero."

"How goes the plan?"

In the depths of a dim labyrinth, beneath a wide-open black gate, a woman with long hair cascading down her shoulders bore a smile tinged with a trace of madness.
She looked up towards the door, questioning without turning her head, though her voice carried little anticipation.

"Re-reporting, milady, things aren’t going well..." the follower standing behind her stammered, his eye contact evasive as he dared not meet her gaze.
Even though she hadn’t turned to face him, he didn’t even have the courage to look at the back of her head, hanging it down in shame and fear.
The labyrinth’s depths should have been utterly silent, yet vague rumbles reverberated, causing dust to trickle from above, showcasing the outer instability.
Clearly, the military and Adventurers outside hadn’t given up on breaking through here, even intentionally causing commotion to disturb the labyrinth’s stability.
Their actions indeed had an effect.
The Border Army, seasoned elite, and even more so the Highland garrison and Advanced Guard—elites among the elite.
With such seasoned troops’ assault, the Black Gate’s outpost holding out so far was no small feat.
Yet staring down the potential collapse of plans long in preparation, even these fanatics felt a tinge of apprehension.
"It wasn’t so simple, after all."
The woman beneath the gate, the Bomber, let out a soft sigh tinged with melancholy.
"The volcano connects to the deepest earth, coursing with the purest Flame Power."
She muttered to herself, her deep purple hair gently swayed with her words, her steady voice resonating in the labyrinth’s depths.
"This also means the Central Volcano serves as a pivot extending into the Highlands, and leveraging its power could cause the Highlands to fracture."
The Bomber’s lips curved slightly as she indulged in vivid depictions of her ideal grandeur.
"Dispatch squads to establish the ceremonial nodes, unseal the Ancient Great Demon, harness the volcanic eruption’s might to open a passage to the Reverse Flow Sea.
Finally, use the Reverse Flow Sea’s boundless force, like a bursting dam, to allow the sea’s waves to carve through the Highlands, creating new rivers.
"Humanity would then usher into a brand new world, gaining routes to endless seas. With subsequent water and sea winds, the border’s climate would drastically shift, yielding fertile soil fit for cultivation in this barren land...
"Oh, how wonderful it would be to have those Inquisition Officers who think we only destroy to hear this."
She sighed wistfully.
"Alas, plans never match reality..."
Were Professional members of the Kingdom’s Mage Association and Engineer Association present, they’d surely look down on the woman’s crazed delusions or voice stern rebuke.
Not to mention whether the plan could succeed, nor the resources it would demand; even if successful, the resulting catastrophe would be devastating.
If the flood were to traverse the Highlands, displaced magic creatures would initiate a fierce Arcane Surge, and the flood would decimate most Border towns, causing countless to suffer.
The Border City itself would be obliterated, leaving not a trace behind.
Nonetheless, due to military disruption, the Highlands’ intricate environment, and White Snake’s reinforcement on the Great Demon’s seal, Black Gate’s plan neared bankruptcy.
Yet neither the reporting acolyte nor the nearby believers voiced dissent, only silently listening.
"Humankind, is truly so unfree." The Bomber shook her head without anger, her voice soft, filled with playful criticism.
"They can’t even achieve something as simple as reaching the world’s end. The Kingdom’s government is so feeble and incompetent, clinging to their meager, barren lands without ambition for a vaster world."
She paused briefly, her tone regretful.
"And as you know, our plan too nears failure.
"The gate remains shut tight, all because of our impotence."
With that, she turned, her deep purple hair cascaded like silk, radiating an exotic glow in the dimness.
The Bomber looked down upon the faithful below, her smile radiant yet dangerous.
Like a violet blooming in the Abyss, her turned silhouette shone with furious light within the dark labyrinth.
The believers bowed deeply, avoiding eye contact with her increasingly madness-stained purple eyes.
Their bent bodies trembled gently, yet not from fear, but an uncontrollable fervor and excitement.
"However, it is far from over—won’t end."
The Bomber’s voice was a soft whisper at one’s ear, yet thundered deafeningly throughout the labyrinth.
"Just as long as the gate remains closed, someone will inevitably open it."
As her words concluded, the open black gate emitted a gangrenous glow, the Bomber’s deep purple eyes shone like morning stars within it.
"—We are the key, we are the lock."
The Bomber’s declaration, calm yet resolute, reverberated.
A stone thrown into water, an uproar unfolded, fanatical cries erupted from all directions as the believers united, their vows shaking the labyrinth:
""—We are the key, we are the lock!""
""Until everything is unimpeded!""
