Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!
Chapter 195: D70. Wholeheartedly Undisturbed_3

Chapter 195: D70. Wholeheartedly Undisturbed_3

The Border Count was not someone who always had time to chat with little girls, so it was natural that the Hero was eating alone.

At this moment, on the broad streets specially constructed for military marches in the Fortress City, the rugged Magic Stone Lamps were lit one by one.

Despite their quirky appearances, not a single lamp failed, and they synchronously illuminated at the same moment, revealing an unexpected delicacy behind their careless façade.

As for the Gleaming Scale Serpent, it did not seem quite accustomed to the brightly lit city at night, faithfully following behind the Queen holding the map, yet occasionally glancing towards the shadows, resembling the way people prefer to walk in shaded, cool spots during the scorching summer days.

However, the Hero naturally did not have any peculiar preference for walking in the shadows late at night.

Her hair, dark as nightfall, gently swayed with her footsteps. The girl was firmly focused on discerning her location on the map, heading towards the destination she had previously decided upon.

Although it was just a brief heart-to-heart talk, the Border Count’s words had given the Hero a sense of enlightenment.

Though she had not even been an Adventurer for half a year, it had to be said that along the way, she confronted and resolved numerous crises,

especially the time when a village was assaulted by Goblins—it could be said that without the Hero, not many villagers would have survived.

After having been blessed by the Lake Holy Sword and achieving an over-level defeat of the Witch’s Undead, her strength had grown considerably.

While the Count did not explicitly say so, the Hero could feel from his demeanor that his regard for her was not only because she was the friend of a little girl but also for her own potential.

A Phoenix Avatar with strength far surpassing that of the Water Mirror Crane... Such power was enough to captivate a man like the Border Count.

Though not yet clear, the Hero vaguely realized something.

—Perhaps she was already a formidable figure.

This could be a blind self-pride, yet it was a conclusion built upon real accomplishments.

It was hard to imagine that several months ago, the girl who fought and wrestled with Goblins without a thread on her, gracelessly in caves and ruins, would now have such growth.

Now walking on the street, the Hero’s black hair as lustrous as that of the Count’s family hung down smoothly, not very conspicuous under the lamp light, yet it still drew some attention.

Many Warriors who had adventured and battled for a whole day were linking arms, walking to the tavern exhausted yet eager, and some even boldly whistled at the Hero.

"Hey, beautiful lady! Want to join us for a drink?"

Ignoring all sorts of gazes, or rather not even noticing they were meant for her, the Hero was immersed in her thoughts,

while the Gleaming Scale Serpent at her feet cast intimidating glances, making the Adventurers laugh and walk away.

"Haha, got ignored."

"Look in the mirror, dumbass*, see that black hair? A Noble Lady like her wouldn’t bother with a clod like you."

"Feels like she’s from the Count’s family... but hasn’t the Princess already returned to the Capital?"

"What do you mean returned! The Border is the Princess’s home; she will eventually come back here to inherit the Count Mansion!"

"Damn, just you watch, I will become a Military Merit Noble and have the Princess confer a title upon me!"

The Adventurers went on their noisy way.

The Border might be dangerous, but for that reason, it attracted many in pursuit of profit.

But just to know, among the Adventurers and mercenaries going back and forth on the streets, not many have killed High-level Demon creatures, let alone ancient Undead.

If she became stronger and able to resist more formidable disasters, should she continue slaying Goblins, or should she focus on countering the bigger catastrophes as decided by the upper echelons of the Kingdom?

This was a question the Hero never considered before.

First, her hatred was only for Goblins, and second, she never really felt that she could become so strong, like those legendary figures, or like her own father and mother.

However, through a series of experiences, she also discovered a fact.

Perhaps it was not just her who could do it, but nonetheless, there were people she could help; to put it further, there were people who would die if she didn’t help.

The Hero was certainly not one to harbor the whole world in her heart;

Before becoming the Hero, she was just a not-so-bright Noble Lady with some family troubles.

Considering her status as part of the Viscount’s House, with no obligations to fulfill, many would probably yearn to swap places with her to indulge in the troubles they deemed luxurious.

However, if the people were within her power to help, she hoped to contribute her own Strength.

Yet, during this unexpected experience at the barracks, she encountered a conflict.

If she were to head to the volcano area for investigation (though nobody had asked her to), she would have to give up on her Goblin hunting.

So how should she choose?

A Hero, after all, is but a single person, unable to be in two places at once.

Weighing the task of exterminating Goblins roaming the highlands against investigating an abnormal volcano, it was clear to everyone which was the more critical mission.

It was precisely such considerations that shaped the Kingdom’s current policies.

So let the Goblins be my task, and the greater anomalies for the stronger ones—this is what the Hero originally thought.

She had believed she understood this, but now, in front of the scales of reality, she hesitated and became lost.

Furthermore, she had now become one of the strong, capable of dealing with greater anomalies—though the Hero had not yet attained such arrogance, this sense of responsibility certainly began to weigh on her heart.

Should she really stick to her convictions?

And though the Count’s words hadn’t resolved any practical issues, they helped ground the Hero’s somewhat lofty spirit.

Before she was born, the city she grew up in had already experienced an Arcane Surge; and during her childhood, brutal wars had raged in these borders.

But as she had seen, the Kingdom still stood, and its people were still here.

The world has never stopped turning for lack of anyone.

She is not a god, nor is she anything special, unable to perfect every task.

Then, it is enough to do what she desires.

First to slay Goblins, and if she could help others while doing so, all the better.

Feeling her spirit clear, the Hero’s steps lightened once more as she entered the destination of her journey—a certain Armor Store.

"Welcome!"
