Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!
Chapter 157: End of the Fairytale

Chapter 157: End of the Fairytale

Deep within the mountain’s base upon the Black Lake, the battle between the girl and the undead was poised to erupt.

"Hiss!"

Determined, the Hero no longer hesitated and let out a short hiss.

Prompted by the command, the Gleaming Scale Serpent quickly surged forward, with its scales spreading and blooming dazzlingly.

The hallucinatory light instantly dispelled the darkness below, also clearly revealing the ghastly appearance of the undead.

Half of the witch’s head had rotted away, with one side of her face revealing the skull beneath, while the other side also showed a withered countenance, her seaweed-like hair waving wildly with the influx of Magic Power.

Her eyeballs were nowhere to be found, but deep lights burned within her sockets, flickering with covetous Soul Fire.

Her soaked and pale upper body was humanoid, just as the present Hero, bare and uncovered. Although not swollen or bloated, it was devoid of any Vitality, appearing more hauntingly pale than bare bones.

Her lower half, however, starting from the tip, was a black and blue fish tail that was rotting away. What should have had elegant contours and beautiful Scales now resembled fish thrown into a filthy ditch at the market, a single glance feeling like Pollution to the eyes.

Moreover, the witch was covered from head to toe with large and small orifices resembling Shark Teeth, truly a nightmarish figure.

But the witch, having reached the end of her life, had no intention of acknowledging her own decay.

Exposed to the bright light, she opened several sharp mouths on her body simultaneously, spitting drool and emitting a maddening Scream; the intangible soundwaves with physical force pressed down towards the Hero.

[Witch’s Ghost activates Skill: Erosion Sound]

[Witch’s chanting (Agility 97+60)]

D97+60=d97(89)+60=149

[Mental Interference (Perception 121+60)]

D121+60=d121(90)+60=150

The Hero’s gaze sharpened and she immediately responded.

Having transformed into the Serpent Queen of the Woodlands, she should have lost the ability to manipulate water in its foamy state.

Yet, possibly due to the environment or the special nature of the enemy, the Beast Spirit Magic Power within her coursed vigorously, enabling her to wield the power of Water Elements even more skillfully than before.

The moment the witch began chanting, the pitch-black lake water before her turned crystal clear, forming a towering Water Barrier in front.

[Hero’s Resistance (Perception 69, Purifying Water +50, Gleaming Scale Serpent’s interference d40)]

D69+d40+50=d69(5)+d40(21)+50=76

[Hero’s Magic Power is reduced by 150-76=74 points, Beast Spirit Magic Power: 1726/1800]

However, the pervasive sound waves pierced through the Hero’s defense and the Gleaming Scale Serpent’s interference as if they were nothing.

The towering Water Barrier boiled under the impact of the soundwaves, exploding into mist within seconds, causing the Gleaming Scale Serpent to roll in agony on the ground.

"Wu!"

The Hero also let out a pained cry but did not lose consciousness, her surging Magic Power within helping her defend against the enemy’s Corrosive Power.

Biting her teeth, she then reached toward the humanoid upper half of the witch from afar.

Let you also taste the Pain echoing inside this head of yours!

[Hero activates Skill: United Heart]

[Witch’s chanting 149-74=75]

When the Hero aimed her hand at the Rotten Siren, she felt she could perceive the delusion-filled heart of the other.

Yet the Hero had no desire to comprehend this sickening obsession, choosing instead to return all the pain resonated by the witch’s sound directly to her.

The negative Mental Interference status was projected back onto its originator, and the witch’s multiple chants turned into pure Scream for half of them.

In the next moment, the Hero roared almost louder than the witch’s screech.

"Haah aah aah aah!"

Her once silent vocal cords seemed to vent all the built-up sounds in one breath, chasing away the remaining pain from her head.

[Hero activates Skill: Vitality (Constitution D2, no extra Bonus for Resistance failure, 74+Success)]

2d95=d95(81)+d95(77)=158

[Recovery successful, Hero overcomes Mental Interference, Beast Spirit Magic Power: 1486/1800]

[Hero’s next action——]

1-3. Quick Attack Magic: Iron Flow Water Gun LV3(Magic Power -30)♛

4-6. Blazing Sunburn (resistible)

7-9. Charge!

10. Critical Success/Extreme Failure

D10=d10(1)=1

Under the Hero’s commanding roar, another portion of the Black Lake water was wrested from control, swiftly converging into a glistening Water Spear.

The fluid-formed Spear, though, shone with a metallic luster under the faint light, firmly grasped in the Hero’s hand.

Then, using all her Strength, she hurled it toward the enemy at the lake’s center.

[Hero activates Skill: Sacrifice, Beast Spirit Magic Power: 1216/1800]

[Spear’s Flying speed (Strength 28, Constitution 95, Quick Attack +30, Hit before chanting completes over 75)]

D28+d95=d28(14)+d95(30)+30=74

[Witch’s chanting 75>74, successful]

[The Magic the witch is about to cast is——]

1-3. Binding Magic

4-6. Attack Magic

7-9. Defensive Magic♛

10. Critical Success/Extreme Failure

D10=d10(7)=7

However, no matter how quickly the Water Gun coalesced or how swift the Hero’s Counterattack was, she remained at a disadvantage for losing the initiative.

As the Spear thrown by the girl with all her might soared midair, the witch’s Scream had already ceased, as mouths all over her body emitted maniacal laughter.

Her chant was complete.

[Rotten Mermaid Shark activates Defensive Magic: Double Water Vortex LV4 (Pollution of Rotten Lake+d70)]

2d50+d70=d50(47)+d50(46)+d70(12)=105

[Water Gun’s damage d30+Purification damage d50]

D30+d50=d30(26)+d50(44)=70

Just as the Spear was about to pierce the enemy, two turning, pitch-black Water Barriers blocked its path.

The Purification-powered Water Gun touched the Shield, instantly emitting white smoke but quickly dissipated by the ever-spinning Barrier.

After penetrating one Water Barrier, the Spear lost its remaining momentum and disappeared, tainted by Corrosive Power.

While the Rotten Witch stood Unhurt, the Barrier became a thin Shield fit around her, as all the orifices over her body started another round of chanting without rest.
