Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins! -
Chapter 108: D39. My dear friend
Chapter 108: D39. My dear friend
Amid the cradle-like rocking that instilled a deep sense of security, the Hero hazily opened her ’eyes’.
She hadn’t been unconscious for long and quickly recalled the events that had just transpired.
Before she fainted, she had seen the Fiendish Goblin turn to char, and with reinforcements arrived, the crisis in town should have been averted.
Come to think of it, this seemed to be the first time she had entirely exhausted her Beast Spirit Magic Power.
If it had been any other form, she would have reverted to her humanoid state and then fallen into a state of headache and weakness.
But in her Phoenix Form, she had exploded into a burst of sparks, and once all her feathers were burned up, she transformed into an ordinary egg much larger than a typical bird’s.
Once her consciousness had returned, the Hero curiously perceived the world around her.
Though she lacked any organs, her perception could still ’see’ the surroundings to a certain extent through the eggshell.
Sound, vibration, Magic Element; the sensitive shell received messages from the outside world, constructing the environment around her in her mind.
And now, she was being held carefully and cautiously by a Little Girl as they walked up the stairs to their hotel room.
While it was regrettable she couldn’t participate in the mop-up of the Goblin remnants, she had done what she could, so the Hero calmly remained in the Little Girl’s arms.
’Hmm? Is this...’
In the steady embrace of her friend where she felt no jolting, the bored Hero observed her surroundings and discovered she could, to some extent, manipulate the Flame Element in the atmosphere just as she could in her Phoenix Form.
While much weaker than in her Phoenix Form and incapable of forming the Flame Element into a spell, the Hero had a sudden idea when she realized she could make the Flame Element linger on the eggshell; she thought of the Rune she used previously to kill many Goblins.
However, considering she was still in her friend’s arms, the Hero did not put this idea into practice, but the Fire Element had already resonated with her.
Although she could neither chant nor cast spells, she realized she could draw explosive Runes on her shell.
So the Hero gave her current state an evaluation.
An all-around, no-blind-spot... exploding egg?
Although the Rune probably wouldn’t be as fast or powerful as the previous explosion, and could slow her hatching process, it was nonetheless a means of resistance in a crisis.
At least she didn’t have to worry about being pecked open by Goblins after turning into an egg.
"Phew—"
At this moment, the Little Girl, safely back in the room, wiped her big flower-painted face and finally managed to retrieve her smile from the grip of anxiety.
"Gleaming Scale Serpent, could you please watch the door for me while I check on the street."
Showcasing her duty-bound obedience, the Gleaming Scale Serpent closed the door and stood guard without resisting the Queen’s friend’s command.
The moment they were back in the hotel, the Little Girl popped her head out the window, cradling the Hero in her arms.
On the bustling streets, Guards and Adventurers were seen hurrying by, some stained with green blood that gave off a stench, causing passersby to look askance.
It was no secret how fragile a loose band of Goblins could be.
But exterminating nearly three hundred desperate Goblins in the sewers certainly required no small amount of manpower.
Even though the Adventurer Guild and other Professional Guilds responded quickly, such a commotion must have caught the notice of many.
If the Goblins could not be eradicated in the sewers before panic ensued, the celebration would unavoidably be affected.
"I wonder if the celebration can still proceed successfully," the Little Girl worried.

The Little Girl looked out from the hotel window, with the Hero nestled in her arms, both gazing at the lively street below.
After observing for a while, they both breathed a sigh of relief.
The festive atmosphere seemed unaffected.
Although there were quite a few Guards and Adventurers running around, stirring some discussions, most people appeared to be enjoying the celebration.
There were also fishermen who had finished the fishing contest, proudly carrying a fish as long as the Hero herself, completely unconcerned that their clothes were drenched, meandering as if unable to find their way home, and drawing as much attention as the hurrying Guards.
The two also spotted the towering figure of the White-robed Mage, who was leading a Chocobo pulling a carriage covered with canvas that clearly carried many things.
Under the curious gaze of the two, he suddenly turned around, locking eyes with the Little Girl upstairs and the egg in her arms.
Upon seeing the unremarkable grey egg in the Little Girl’s arms, even the White-robed Mage paused, then chuckled and shook his head.
He pointed to the goods on the carriage, then to the sky, winked at the two, and continued to lead his Bird Carriage forward.
"Those are tonight’s fireworks!" the Little Girl brightly surmised, understanding the White-robed Mage’s hint.
The Hero also happily wiggled within the egg.
If White-robed Grandpa was preparing fireworks, that meant the celebration was definitely going to proceed smoothly.
It seemed the ready Professionals of Lake Town weren’t going to let even one of those green-skins escape.
Their minds at ease, the Little Girl then realized she was still dirty.
"Oh no, I need to get cleaned up quickly."
She tensed up again.
