Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins!
Chapter 103: D37. Bombing Chicken

Chapter 103: D37. Bombing Chicken

The air suddenly fell silent.

The Hero halted her steps; in the deserted sewer, only her own breathing was left.

Following the underground sewer - that was not overly complex, yet still a labyrinth - she ran and finally succeeded in escaping the encirclement of the Goblin Group.

Faintly, from a distance, came the anxious cries of the Goblins, echoing through the corridors and making the surroundings feel even more silent by contrast.

Running back and forth in the sewer for so long, the Hero noticed that, for some reason, the standards of this Lake Town’s sewer were exceptionally high.

She had tried to crawl through sewers before to return to the Viscount Mansion, and although her memory was not very clear, she vaguely felt that the sewer of this town was even more high-tier than those of the cities.

Although she did not understand why the town’s planning designer poured so much effort into such a place, after breaking free from the Goblins’ encirclement, those green-skinned creatures had become like headless flies within this vast underground maze, hopping madly in frustration for losing sight of the girl.

However, this peace did not last long.

The Goblin Remnants were numerous, nearly scattered throughout the entire sewer, so it was only a matter of time before the Hero, who chose not to run any further, was discovered.

When the first Goblin spotted the Hero, realizing its own insufficient strength, it didn’t pounce on her right away. Instead, it yelped and shouted, summoning its leader and kin.

Silence was abruptly chased away, and with the Goblin Group’s Marching, the messy thundering again filled this dark space.

Completely forgetting the bustling city above, busily preparing for the festival, as well as forgetting those delicacies and more females, the Goblins were single-mindedly pursuing, longing for the Hero who had provoked them and irresponsibly left.

In this continuous game of chase, the noise created by the Goblins was extraordinary; surely the townsfolk above must have noticed something by now.

And the Guards, being experienced soldiers, the Hero intuitively understood that reinforcements should be arriving soon.

The Hero had become familiar with the sewer environment; though now filled with the Goblins’ stench, the wide sewer that led straight to the bottom of the lake didn’t have much accumulated odor, and there was even a hint of pure Water Vapor from the lake in her breath.

Even if a fire was started here, it wouldn’t cause any accident.

—The task of buying time was over. As such, there was no need to be polite with these Goblins any longer.

’—Alright, let’s do this.’

After taking a brief moment to gather her strength, the Hero turned around, with fire lighting up in her Emerald Eyes.

The Beast Spirit Mage’s most basic, and sole ability, is to transform into an animal or Demon Beast.

As a Magician who modified their own body, the Hero’s ability had several restrictions, such as the transformation couldn’t deviate too far from a Humanoid life form, it could only absorb the souls of specific types of beasts; although it couldn’t deviate too far from Humankind, it also couldn’t directly absorb humanoid souls; moreover, the transformation must commence in human form, otherwise the ability couldn’t be activated.

When switching forms, the Hero also had to revert to Humanoid form, and not only that, but she had to wait for the effects of the previous form to dissipate before she could switch to the next form.

For Magicians, the existence as ’people’ is the foundation of everything.

If the transformation is not carried out in a stable manner, one could easily become lost on the path to ’demonhood’ and never find oneself again.

Although with adventure and peculiar experiences, the Hero discovered that these restrictions weren’t absolute, for she had received the Humanoid Transformation from the Lake Holy Sword.

But to break through other limitations was obviously still too early for the current Hero.

And despite its many drawbacks, the profession of Beast Spirit Mage isn’t one that can be chosen later in life; the power to perfectly mimic other life forms through transformation and without affecting the original body is extremely rare and noble within the realm of Magicians.

This nobility arises not from other aspects, but because compared to regular Magicians who explore lineage and other elements, the Beast Spirit Mage can reach out with greedy hands to beings that do not belong to them, and yet are above them, above Humankind.

Phoenix—

Even dedicating a lifetime of effort, generations of struggle, and the convergence of wills, might not be enough to even qualify to challenge this being that lives in legends, representing the legend itself.

Beyond Humankind, standing as an individual but on par with entire species, it’s an existence beyond fantasy.

And this power was with the Hero.

Snake Scales shed, the wooden-colored Light Armor that blocked most of the filth also dissipated Tracelessly.

Inheriting the Humanoid form from the Bubble Princess, the fused Serpent Queen of the Woodlands form was a good thing for the Hero—after all, the Humanoid form is the most convenient form no matter what.

If she shared this good news with the Little Girl, she might even reconsider her rating of the professions.

Still, when facing a large number of enemies, the awkwardness of being outnumbered hadn’t changed.

Then, there was only one choice left now.

’This blessing—I’ll make good use of it.’
