Chapter 728: Blood
Chapter 728: Chapter 728: Blood
Yu Sile cursed under his breath, his fists clenching as his expression darkened. "Damn it! Who took her?!"
Yu Holea, however, remained still.
She stared at the spot where Yu Mei had just been restrained moments ago.
She exhaled softly.
"So," she murmured to herself, her voice barely audible, "this was the trigger they were waiting for."
A presence. A protector lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to act.
Whoever had taken Yu Mei had been watching all along. And tonight—tonight, they made their move.
Qiao Jun, noticing her thoughtful expression, stepped closer and gently patted her back. When she turned to him, he nodded.
A silent understanding passed between them.
Yu Holea had long ago known that a day like that would come, but she never thought it would come so soon.
The dark entity was dealt with, and now only the protector behind Yu Mei was remaining.
She knew about the existence of the protector since Yu Mei got away from jail even after Yu Holea’s solid evidence of Yu Mei’s evil deeds.
Was Mr. Yu and Leng Huan so capable? Absolutely not...
Qiao Jun gave Yu Holea’s shoulder a light squeeze and said,
"Don’t overthink, we can deal with Yu Mei later."
Yu Holea smiled. She had her own plans. After all in the past few years, she wasn’t lazing around.
But before she could say anything, Qiao Jun suddenly cleared his throat and looked at her with a serious expression.
"By the way," he started, "can I sleep with you tonight?"
Yu Holea blinked. "Huh?"
"You’ve been ignoring me these past few nights," Qiao Jun said, crossing his arms. "I feel like I did something wrong."
Yu Holea scoffed, looking away. "You deserve it."
Qiao Jun raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what exactly did I do?"
Yu Holea pursed her lips before mumbling, "I had a dream."
Qiao Jun’s expression turned amused. "A dream?"
"In my dream," Yu Holea continued, her voice slightly irritated, "you broke up with me for another woman."
Qiao Jun froze for a second. Then, he suddenly burst out laughing. His deep, carefree laughter echoed through the night.
Yu Holea’s face darkened. "Why are you laughing?!"
Still chuckling, Qiao Jun reached for her hand. "Alright, alright, look at this."
He pointed to the ring on his finger.
Yu Holea examined it. It was beautiful, shining softly under the moonlight.
"It’s a nice ring," she said calmly. "But what’s special about it?"
Qiao Jun smiled mysteriously. "Try inserting your mystic energy into it."
Yu Holea frowned but did as he said.
The next moment, light flickered from the ring, and suddenly—
Images appeared in the air, floating like glowing memories.
Yu Holea gasped.
One by one, moments of her and Qiao Jun’s time together were displayed—
Them training side by side, laughing under the stars.
Qiao Jun sneaked food onto her plate when she wasn’t looking.
He stared at her when she was asleep, a soft, loving smile on his face.
The time she had fallen sick, and he had stayed by her side, looking worried.
Yu Holea’s eyes widened in disbelief. "This...?"
Qiao Jun folded his arms and smirked proudly.
"I made this ring myself," he said. "I even infused a part of my soul into it. That’s why you can see our memories."
Yu Holea turned to him, stunned. "You... made this?"
"Yeah," Qiao Jun admitted.
"That’s why I was busy and couldn’t spend much time with you." He tilted his head and grinned.
"You really thought I was going to break up with you?"
Yu Holea clenched her fists as she realized how wrong she had been.
All this time, she thought Qiao Jun had been drifting away from her, but in reality—he was working hard to make something for her.
She quickly looked away, her lips pressing together tightly to stop herself from crying.
Her chest felt warm, filled with a strange mix of guilt and happiness.
After a moment, she took a deep breath and muttered, "Then... I’ll make one for you too."
Qiao Jun chuckled and shook his head.
"No need. I don’t want to see you suffer through that."
Yu Holea glanced at him, her face soft with emotion. Before she could say anything, Qiao Jun leaned in and whispered,
"But if you’re really moved... you should kiss me."
Yu Holea stiffened.
Her face turned completely red.
"You—shut up!" she snapped, turning away.
Qiao Jun only laughed, clearly enjoying her reaction. "What? It’s a fair request."
Yu Holea gritted her teeth but said nothing.
Her heart was beating fast, and no matter how much she tried to ignore it, she couldn’t stop the warmth from spreading in her chest.
Just then Yu Sicong pulled her behind him and said to Qiao Jun with a stern expression,
"Stay away from her. Until you both get married, you shouldn’t be saying such things," he said firmly.
Qiao Jun smirked, clearly amused. "Oh? And what if I insist?"
Yu Sicong narrowed his eyes. "Then I’ll have to teach you some manners."
Qiao Jun chuckled and stepped closer, his arms crossed. "And if I say I’m already behaving myself?"
Yu Sicong scoffed.
"Behaving? Do you think I don’t know that you sneak to her bed in the middle of the night?"
Yu Holea covered her face with both hands.
"Enough! Both of you, stop!"
She took a deep breath and pushed Yu Sicong aside.
"You’re not my father. And Qiao Jun—" She turned to him, her face still red. "You! Stop teasing me all the time!"
Qiao Jun raised his hands in surrender, but his mischievous smile remained.
"Alright, alright. I won’t ask for a kiss anymore."
Yu Holea sighed in relief—
"But if you kiss me yourself, I won’t stop you."
Yu Sicong clenched his fists. "You—!"
Before he could lunge at Qiao Jun, Yu Holea stepped between them.
"Enough! Let’s focus on important things!"
Yu Sicong sighed but backed off.
"Fine. But I’ll be keeping an eye on you," he warned Qiao Jun before walking away.
As soon as he left, Qiao Jun leaned in slightly and whispered,
"He won’t always be watching, you know."
Yu Holea stomped on his foot, making him yelp. "Keep dreaming!"
Qiao Jun laughed, rubbing his foot. "You’re so violent, yet you’re blushing so much. Cute."
The day ended and everyone eventually forgot about Yu Mei.
.................................
In an isolated villa.
A figure dropped Yu Mei on the couch and sighed,
"When are you going to stop being dumb?"
Yu Mei who was pretending to be unconscious until then, opened her eyes and sat up straight.
She looked at the figure and whined,
"Mother, it’s not like I wanted to be captured!"
The woman standing before her sighed, shaking her head in disappointment.
She was tall, with an air of elegance that made her presence commanding.
Her sharp eyes bore into Yu Mei like she was looking at a foolish child.
"You let yourself be outplayed, Mei’er," her mother said coldly.
"You were supposed to be careful, yet you walked straight into their trap."
Yu Mei pouted.
"I didn’t expect Yu Holea to be so ruthless! She didn’t even hesitate to hand me over!"
Her mother scoffed.
"And why would she hesitate? After everything you’ve done, you should be grateful you’re still alive."
Yu Mei clenched her fists. "Mother, are you taking her side now?"
The woman’s expression didn’t change.
"I am taking the side of intelligence, something you seem to lack recently."
Yu Mei bit her lip. "Then why did you save me if you think I’m such a failure?"
Her mother finally sat down across from her, resting her chin on her hand as she studied her daughter.
"Because no matter how foolish you are, you are still my daughter. And I have plans for you."
Yu Mei straightened up, her eyes shining with hope. "Plans?"
Her mother smirked.
"Yes. First of all, we should get your name cleared and destroy the evidence so that Yu Holea couldn’t hand you over to special forces."
Yu Mei raised an eyebrow and asked,
"And how are you planing to do it?"
The woman smirked,
"Through curse."
"You mean..." Yu Mei looked at her mother with wide eyes.
"Yes." The woman nodded. "However for that, we need a Yu Family member’s blood. You know what I mean, right?"
"Yes, I do." Yu Mei nodded.
"Good. And, don’t chase after that Qiao Jun anymore. His purple aura is too thick and I can’t deal with him or Yu Holea, whose cultivation is only a step lower than me." The woman said.
Yu Mei’s expression twisted in frustration, but she quickly masked it with a sweet smile.
"Of course, Mother," she said, lowering her head in obedience.
Her mother narrowed her eyes slightly as if trying to detect any trace of deception. But after a moment, she simply nodded.
"Good." She stood up, walking toward the window. "Now go to that fool and draw his blood."
