Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All
Chapter 720: Old Hao

Chapter 720: Chapter 720: Old Hao

Yu Mei decided to call her father Mr. Yu.

The moment the call was picked up, Mr. Yu’s voice sounded,

"Yu Mei? Are you alright? Where are you? Don’t worry, I will be there. I won’t let anyone take you away."

Yu Mei took a deep breath, forcing herself to regain composure. Panic would do her no good now.

Her fingers tightened around her phone as she steadied her voice and spoke to her father.

"Dad, I’m at my apartment. Please come quickly. The police are at my door," she said, deliberately injecting a tremor into her voice, making herself sound vulnerable, as if she were the victim.

"Stay where you are! I’ll be there soon. No one will take you away, I promise!" Mr. Yu’s voice was firm, almost frantic.

Ending the call, Yu Mei exhaled shakily and pressed her fingers to her temples. She needed a plan.

A flawless, airtight plan. There was no way she would go down like this. Not after everything she had done to climb to the top.

Her mind whirred, searching for a loophole, a way to twist the narrative in her favor.

And then, an idea struck her—a way to deflect the blame, to turn herself from the villain into the victim.

Before she could refine her plan, her phone rang again. It was Leng Huan.

She hesitated for a split second before answering.

"Leng Huan... what should I do now?" she sobbed, her voice shaking with well-practiced distress.

"They’re trying to ruin me! The whole internet is against me! I don’t know what to do!"

Leng Huan remained silent for a moment.

Of course, he already knew she was guilty. But he also knew how to manipulate the situation.

"I have an idea," he finally said.

"We’ll say your phone was hacked. Someone must have accessed your accounts and sent those messages, uploaded those recordings. And you only realized it now. That explains why you didn’t respond earlier."

Yu Mei sniffled, nodding even though he couldn’t see her.

"Yes... that could work. But we need something stronger. What if... what if we say I have a stalker?"

Leng Huan hummed in interest. "Go on."

"A crazy fan," Yu Mei continued, her mind sharpening despite her trembling fingers.

"Someone obsessed with me. Maybe I ignored them once, and they went insane. They wanted to destroy me for rejecting them.

They look like me, just enough to cause confusion. What if they hacked my phone and impersonated me online? It would explain everything! The leaked messages, the recordings—it was all them!"

Leng Huan let out a low chuckle.

"Not bad. It adds an emotional angle. The public loves a tragic victim. We can refine it further.

Maybe this stalker was delusional, convinced you were meant to be together. When you ignored them, they wanted revenge. They framed you for crimes you didn’t commit."

"Yes! And," Yu Mei’s eyes gleamed as her plan took shape, "we can have someone come forward as an anonymous source claiming they’ve seen this stalker before. Maybe they even tried to warn me, but I didn’t take it seriously."

Leng Huan nodded approvingly.

"Good. We’ll need to act fast. I’ll start leaking small pieces of information online—nothing official, just enough to plant the seed of doubt. If we do this right, the narrative will shift."

Just as Yu Mei opened her mouth to respond, a loud crash resounded from her front door.

She whipped around just in time to see her apartment door being forced open.

Police officers rushed in, their expressions unreadable but their movements precise and efficient.

"Miss Yu Mei, you are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and multiple counts of fraud," one of the officers stated, his voice firm and unyielding.

"Here is your arrest warrant. Please cooperate."

Yu Mei’s breath hitched as a pair of cold metal handcuffs clicked around her wrists.

She felt the icy press of steel against her skin, the weight of reality crashing down on her like a tidal wave.

She gritted her teeth.

Someone was behind this.

Someone had orchestrated her downfall, had planned every move so precisely that she had no room to escape.

It took her mere seconds to piece it together.

Yu Holea.

A sharp pang of hatred burned in Yu Mei’s chest, her nails digging into her palms even through the cuffs.

That wretched woman. She had underestimated her stepsister.

As the officers led her out of her apartment, cameras flashed from the hallway, reporters already swarming like vultures.

The world watched as Yu Mei—the once-beloved actress—was dragged down in disgrace.

She bit her lip hard enough to taste blood.

This wasn’t over.

Yu Holea calmly watched the news, and Yu Sile, who was beside her, couldn’t help but look at Yu Holea with amazement,

"Sister, you are truly amazing. Yu Mei is done for this time."

Yu Holea, however, remained impassive.

"No, she isn’t."

Her voice was calm, but her eyes flickered with deep calculation.

"If taking down Yu Mei were so easy, I wouldn’t have spent four years preparing for this moment."

Yu Sile frowned slightly.

"But with all the evidence against her, how could she possibly turn this around?"

"That’s exactly the problem," Yu Holea murmured, setting her cup down.

"Yu Mei has always been cunning. She wouldn’t let herself be crushed so easily. If anything, she’s already working on a counterattack."

..............................................

At the detention center, Yu Mei sat in the dimly lit holding cell, her head lowered, her fingers curled into tight fists.

The cold metal of the handcuffs still lingered on her wrists, though they had been removed upon her arrival.

The damp, musty air did little to soothe her nerves.

She had lost control of the situation. That was an undeniable fact.

But losing control did not mean losing the war.

She took a deep breath, forcing her mind to steady. Panic and anger would get her nowhere—only careful planning could.

She thought back to her conversation with Leng Huan.

He would undoubtedly continue to push their narrative, ensuring the public’s perception began to shift.

A well-placed rumor, a hint of a deeper conspiracy—these things could sway public opinion.

More importantly, she still had her father.

Just as the thought crossed her mind, the sound of approaching footsteps made her look up.

The metal door clanged open, and a guard stepped in.

"You have a visitor."

Moments later, Mr. Yu entered, his face lined with concern and barely concealed fury.

"Dad," Yu Mei whispered, her voice trembling just enough to sound weak, helpless.

Mr. Yu stepped forward, his jaw clenched.

"I won’t let them do this to you. I’ve already spoken to my lawyers. You’ll be out soon."

Yu Mei exhaled softly, allowing relief to flicker across her face.

"Dad... someone set me up. I swear."

Mr. Yu’s eyes darkened.

"I know. And I have a suspicion about who it was."

Yu Mei lifted her gaze, her expression carefully composed. "Yu Holea."

Mr. Yu’s silence was enough of an answer.

"Don’t worry Yu Mei, I will teach that b*tch a good lesson later."

Yu Mei nodded her head as tears dropped from her eyes.

Mr. Yu’s heart ached, and he held the jail bars and swore,

"Mei’er I swear, I will make sure that b*tch Yu Holea suffer. I will get out of you here soon."

Yu Mei lowered her gaze, allowing a few more tears to slip down her cheeks.

She knew her father well—his protectiveness, his ruthlessness.

And most importantly, his influence. If anyone could get her out of this situation, it was him.

"Dad, please... I can’t stay here," she whispered, her voice trembling.

"You have to get me out. You have to make them pay."

Mr. Yu’s hands clenched into fists, his entire frame radiating fury.

"I will. That ungrateful wretch, Yu Holea, thinks she can ruin you? She has no idea who she’s dealing with."

Yu Mei bit her lip, nodding weakly.

"She must have planned this for years... I never saw it coming. I thought she was just a naive girl, but she’s more dangerous than I ever imagined."

Mr. Yu exhaled sharply, his mind already working through strategies.

"My lawyers are pulling every string. We will get you out soon. In the meantime, don’t speak to anyone without my approval. Every word you say can be twisted against you."

Yu Mei nodded obediently, but in her heart, she was already planning her own moves.

She couldn’t rely solely on her father—if Yu Holea was smart enough to orchestrate her downfall, then Yu Mei had to be smarter to crawl her way back up.

..............................

Grandma Cai looked at the news and took out her phone. She calmly dialed a number and once the call was connected, she said with a smile,

"Old Hao, how are you?"

Old Hao’s hearty and energetic voice sounded from the other side,

"I am good. How about you? You called after so many days, there must be something you want me to do for you."

"Just a little favor." Grandma Cai said while staring at Yu Mei’s face on the TV screen.
