Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 667: Bracelet
Chapter 667: Chapter 667: Bracelet
Qiao Jun chuckled softly, sensing her deliberate shift in the topic but choosing not to press further.
"Alright," he said warmly, lifting the cover of one of the dishes to reveal a beautifully prepared plate of honey-glazed shrimp—her favorite.
"Let’s eat."
Despite the simplicity of the moment, there was an undeniable intimacy in the air.
For the first time in a long while, Yu Holea felt a sliver of peace, her usual guarded demeanor softening under Qiao Jun’s attentive care.
As they reached the end of their meal, Qiao Jun poured them each a glass of wine. He raised his glass, his piercing gaze meeting hers.
"To us," he said, his voice low but resolute. "To new beginnings and better days ahead."
Yu Holea hesitated for a fraction of a second before clinking her glass against his.
"To us," she echoed, her tone carrying a quiet conviction.
They sipped in silence, the rich, velvety taste of the wine lingering on their tongues.
After dinner, he guided her to the living room.
"There’s one more surprise," Qiao Jun said, his voice tinged with anticipation.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, elegantly wrapped box. Handing it to her, he said, "Open it."
Yu Holea carefully untied the ribbon and lifted the lid to reveal a delicate silver bracelet, its centerpiece a single sapphire that mirrored the color of Qiao Jun’s eyes.
"This..." Her voice faltered as she traced the bracelet’s intricate design.
"It’s a promise," Qiao Jun said, his gaze unwavering. "From now till the end, I will never mistreat you."
Yu Holea slid the bracelet on her wrist and said in a soft voice,
"I am sorry, I didn’t prepare any gift-"
"You have already given me a gift." Qiao Jun said in a firm voice. "By forgiving me. It was the biggest gift."
He gently clasped her waist, pulling her closer,
"In those months, I felt I would never be your boyfriend again, but you forgave me in the end. It was the biggest gift."
Leaning toward her lips, he asked in a soft gentle voice, "May I?"
"Yes." Yu Holea whispered, staring into his eyes.
Qiao Jun captured her lips with his and kissed her gently. As if he had a lot of time.
After all, he had already dealt with Sheng Yin. So logically speaking, he did have a lot of time.
Slowly his kisses moved to the south of her face.
Yu Holea was lost in his gentle kisses when suddenly she felt a sweet pain on her earlobes.
"Mmm..." Yu Holea couldn’t control her moan in time. She clasped her mouth in shock, however, Qiao Jun chuckled and stopped her.
"Don’t. Tonight no one will come back." Qiao Jun whispered.
"We can’t..." Yu Holea protested, concern evident in her eyes.
"Don’t worry, before marriage, I won’t touch you. I promise." Qiao Jun smiled. He knew Yu Holea had a unique mindset and he wasn’t going to force her to do things she didn’t want to do.
In the end, Qiao Jun kept his promise, but Yu Holea’s collarbone was marred with red marks.
Qiao Jun insisted on sleeping with Yu Holea together, and Yu Hoela could only agree.
The night had fallen into an eerie stillness, save for the gentle hum of the air conditioning and the rhythmic sound of Qiao Jun’s breathing beside her.
Yu Holea stirred in her sleep, her instincts pricking like the edge of a blade.
Though her eyes remained closed, the unmistakable sensation of being watched crept over her, chilling her skin like a winter breeze.
Slowly, she opened her eyes, her sharp gaze sweeping across the dimly lit room.
There was no one there.
She sighed, her throat dry. Reaching out for the water jar on the nightstand, her fingers met cold emptiness.
Empty.
With no other choice, she slid out of bed, her movements quiet so as not to disturb Qiao Jun, and padded softly toward the stairs.
The wooden steps creaked faintly under her weight, but halfway down, another set of footsteps echoed behind her.
The sound was soft yet deliberate, matching her pace exactly.
Yu Holea paused, her hand lightly gripping the railing as her lips curled into a wry smile.
"If you’re going to follow me, at least don’t make it so obvious, or is that you want to play? " she muttered under her breath.
The footsteps ceased, leaving only silence. Unfazed, she continued her descent.
Reaching the kitchen, she bent down to open the refrigerator, the cold light spilling out into the dark room.
As she retrieved a chilled bottle of water, the faint reflection of a figure flickered in the stainless steel door.
Tall, shadowy, and unmoving, the presence loomed ominously behind her.
Yu Holea’s expression remained impassive.
She closed the fridge, turned, and found nothing but empty air.
Her calm gaze shifted back to the fridge, only for a pale, ghostly face to materialize on the door, its hollow eyes staring unblinkingly, lips twisted in a grotesque grin.
"Boo," it rasped, its voice low and otherworldly.
Yu Holea quirked an eyebrow, her irritation finally surfacing.
"Seriously?" she said flatly. Without hesitation, she grabbed the ghostly face with one hand and yanked it out of the fridge like she was peeling an old sticker.
The spirit squawked in protest, its translucent form struggling to maintain its shape as she held it at arm’s length.
"What are you doing? Leave me!"
"I’m trying to get a drink," Yu Holea retorted, unscrewing the bottle cap with her free hand and taking a long sip.
She let out a satisfied sigh, the cool water easing her thirst.
The ghost’s flickering form twisted and flailed in Yu Holea’s firm grip before vanishing with a faint hiss, leaving only a trace of icy cold in the air.
Yu Holea didn’t so much as blink.
She capped her water bottle and turned toward the living room.
Just as she stepped into the dimly lit space, a blur of white streaked past her peripheral vision.
Yu Holea stopped, her sharp gaze following the movement.
A pale young woman in a flowing white gown darted into the shadows, her long, disheveled hair trailing behind her.
The woman’s bare feet made no sound against the wooden floor, but her presence was palpable, oppressive, and cold.
Yu Holea stood motionless, her expression unchanging, as the ghostly figure skittered through the room, circling her like a predator stalking its prey.
The woman paused momentarily near the far corner, her back hunched unnaturally as she turned her head to stare directly at Yu Holea.
Her eyes were wide and hollow, her face an unsettling mask of twisted glee.
Without warning, the specter bent forward, her hands splayed on the floor, and began scuttling toward Yu Holea on all fours like a grotesque spider.
Her movements were jerky, unnervingly fast, and accompanied by the faint sound of cracking joints.
Yu Holea, unfazed, sipped her water.
The ghost closed the distance quickly, her mouth stretching into a feral grin, but just as she reached within arm’s length, Yu Holea calmly slipped a hand into her pocket and pulled out a neatly folded talisman.
With a casual flick of her wrist, the talisman sailed through the air and adhered perfectly to the ghost’s forehead.
The ghost shrieked, her form contorting violently as wisps of dark, shadowy smoke curled from her body.
She flailed backward, clawing at the talisman as if it burned her very essence.
"Ahhh! What did you do?!" the ghost wailed, her voice a mix of anguish and outrage.
Yu Holea exhaled softly, her tone dry.
"If you’re going to crawl around like a spider, at least clean the floor while you’re at it. These antics are getting old."
The ghost flailed, spinning wildly on the floor like a malfunctioning puppet.
"You—how dare you!"
Yu Holea tilted her head, her lips twitching upward in the faintest of smirks.
"You’ve got about five seconds to disappear before I try the stronger talismans." She reached into her other pocket, pulling out a bundle of shimmering gold paper slips.
"These might actually send you to the next realm. Permanently."
The ghost froze, her expression shifting to one of panic.
"You are working Xin Zhi, right?" Yu Holea asked.
The ghost’s eyes widened before it suddenly vanished.
Yu Holea didn’t chase after it.
She still didn’t get the approval to catch the ghost. Not to mention, she kept on feeling as if things weren’t as simple as it seems.
She has met more than three cases of luck changing by now. It could only mean one thing...
Maybe the recent events of luck changing were related to something big.
Yu Holea returned to her room, however, she didn’t forget to report the incident to the special forces.
With this incident, the approval request will be processed quickly.
Having finished the report, she returned to her bed and slept peacefully.
The next day.
Yu Holea woke up with an unexpected piece of news.
