Chapter 648: Posion
Chapter 648: Chapter 648: Posion
Yu Holea froze for a moment, the cheerful warmth of the moment with Qiao Jun fading as worry crept into her voice.
"What happened, Sile? Why do you sound so nervous?" she asked, her tone calm but firm.
On the other end, Yu Sile stammered, "It’s... it’s Grandfather. He collapsed! The doctor is here, but they said it looks serious. Please, Sister, come back quickly!"
Yu Holea’s heart dropped, and she stood up immediately, slipping out of Qiao Jun’s arms.
"I’ll be there right away," she said, her voice steady despite the panic bubbling inside her.
Old Master Yu was one of the only people who helped her a lot.
He never came in front of Yu Holea, knowing she would hate to see any of the Yu family members, but he secretly protected her every time.
She turned to Qiao Jun, her voice soft but urgent. "I need to leave now."
Qiao Jun nodded without hesitation. "I’ll take you."
"No, you stay here," she said quickly. "There’s a lot of work waiting for you. I’ll be fine."
But Qiao Jun shook his head. "No way. If something’s happening to your family, I’ll be right by your side."
She hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Alright, let’s go then."
The car ride to the Yu Mansion felt longer than usual. Yu Holea stared out the window.
When they arrived, the mansion felt eerily quiet. The usual lively atmosphere was replaced with a heavy silence. Yu Holea stepped inside, her heels clicking against the marble floor.
"Sister!" Yu Sile ran toward her, his eyes red. "Grandfather is in his room. The doctor is still checking on him. I... I don’t know what to do!"
Yu Holea placed a hand on his shoulder, steadying him. "Don’t panic. He’ll be fine."
She walked briskly to the room, Qiao Jun following closely behind.
Inside, Old Master Yu lay on the bed, his face pale but his eyes sharp when they spotted her.
"Holea..." he said in a weak voice.
"Grandfather," Yu Holea replied, her voice steady as she approached his bedside.
Old Master Yu managed a faint smile. "I knew you’d come. You always come when it matters."
She knelt beside him, holding his hand gently. "Don’t talk too much. Just rest. You’re going to be okay."
The doctor stood nearby, looking serious.
"Old Master Yu needs proper care. He’s stable for now, but his condition could worsen if he’s stressed. I suggest transferring him to a hospital where he can get better treatment."
"What had happened?" Yu Holea asked.
Yu Sile with a worried expression answered,
"I don’t know, grandpa was strolling in the garden when suddenly he fainted."
Yu Holea checked Old Master Yu’s nerves and her eyes narrowed. She was a doctor and instantly understood that someone had tried to poison Old Master Yu.
Old Master Yu fainted this time mainly because the slow-acting poison in Old Master Yu’s body was starting to take effect.
For a moment, her jaw tightened, but she quickly masked her emotions. She turned to the doctor and gave him a polite smile.
"Thank you for your help, doctor. My grandfather will need rest now," she said. Then she glanced at Yu Sile. "Sile, could you please lead the doctor out?"
Yu Sile hesitated for a moment, clearly wanting to stay, but he nodded and gestured for the doctor to follow him out of the room.
Once they were gone, Yu Holea looked at one of the maids standing nearby. "Bring me the acupuncture set I left in the car. Quickly."
The maid blinked in surprise but immediately nodded and left the room.
Old Master Yu’s tired eyes rested on Yu Holea. "Holea, what are you planning to do?"
Yu Holea pulled a chair next to the bed and sat down, her expression calm but serious. "Grandfather, I need you to trust me. Someone has poisoned you. It’s a slow-acting poison, but I can help you get rid of it. Will you let me treat you?"
Old Master Yu’s eyes widened slightly. Then a spark of hope and excitement replaced the shock. "You’ll treat me? Does this mean... you’re finally ready to talk to me, Holea?"
His voice, though weak, held a hint of joy. Yu Holea’s lips softened into a faint smile. "Grandfather, let’s focus on your health first. I’ll explain everything later."
Without hesitation, Old Master Yu nodded. "I trust you, Holea. Do what you need to do."
The maid returned quickly, handing Yu Holea the acupuncture set. Yu Holea opened it with steady hands, her gaze sharpening with determination.
She carefully sterilized the needles, arranging them neatly on a small tray.
"Grandfather," she said softly, "this might feel a bit uncomfortable, but I promise it won’t hurt. Just relax, okay?"
Old Master Yu gave her a reassuring smile. "I’m not worried. I believe in you."
Yu Holea began by pressing a few points on his wrist and neck, assessing his condition further.
Her fingers were precise, her movements confident. Once she confirmed the areas affected by the poison, she picked up the first needle.
She inserted the needle into a specific acupoint on his wrist.
Old Master Yu winced slightly but didn’t say anything.
Yu Holea continued, her hands moving with the skill and precision of a seasoned healer.
As she worked, she spoke in a calm, soothing voice.
"Acupuncture helps stimulate the flow of energy in the body. It will also help draw the poison out and strengthen your system to recover faster."
Old Master Yu listened quietly, his gaze never leaving her face.
He couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride.
His granddaughter, whom he had secretly protected for so long, was now taking care of him.
Yu Holea moved to another point on his arm, then to his chest. Each needle was placed with care and precision.
She explained every step in simple terms, knowing it would ease her grandfather’s mind.
"The poison is moving through your bloodstream slowly, but with this technique, I can guide it out safely," she said.
Old Master Yu nodded slightly, his trust in her unwavering.
As the minutes turned into an hour, Yu Holea’s concentration never wavered.
She adjusted the needles occasionally, monitoring her grandfather’s reaction closely. His breathing, which had been shallow earlier, became steadier.
Sweat formed on her brow, but she didn’t stop.
The process was delicate, and any mistake could worsen his condition. She pressed her fingers on certain points after removing a needle, helping the energy flow correctly.
Finally, she placed the last needle near his abdomen, her expression one of calm determination. "This is the last one, Grandfather. You’re doing great."
Old Master Yu gave her a weak smile. "And you’re doing even better, Holea."
Yu Holea stayed by his side, occasionally checking his pulse.
She could feel the poison weakening, its effects slowly diminishing.
After a few more minutes, she began removing the needles one by one, wiping each area gently with a sterile cloth.
When the last needle was removed, she sighed softly, her shoulders relaxing.
"It’s done. The poison is mostly gone now. But you’ll still need rest and proper care to recover fully."
Old Master Yu looked at her with admiration and gratitude.
"Holea, I don’t know how to thank you."
She shook her head, a small smile playing on her lips. "You don’t need to thank me, Grandfather. Just focus on getting better."
He reached out and held her hand tightly.
"You’ve grown into someone so capable and strong. I’m proud of you, my dear."
Yu Holea felt a lump in her throat but quickly pushed it down.
"I only did what needed to be done."
Old Master Yu’s gaze softened.
"I know you’ve been hurt by the family, but I hope someday you’ll let me make things right."
Yu Holea didn’t respond immediately, her thoughts swirling. She gave his hand a gentle squeeze and said,
"We’ll talk about that later. For now, you need to rest."
Old Master Yu nodded, his eyes closing as exhaustion overtook him.
Yu Holea sat by his side for a while, watching his breathing stabilize. Then she turned to Yu Sile, who had been silently watching everything.
"I’ll have someone test the food and drinks in this house. No one is allowed near him without my approval," she said firmly.
Yu Sile nodded. "I’ll handle it. You focus on him. He needs you."
"Also, Sile," Yu Holea said firmly, "I need you to gather all the maids and staff in the mansion. Bring them to the main hall right now."
Yu Sile blinked, surprised by her sudden command, but he nodded quickly. "Alright, Sister. I’ll get them right away."
He rushed off, leaving Yu Holea alone with Old Master Yu, who had fallen into a light sleep.
She adjusted the blanket over him, her gaze softening for a moment before she stood up, her expression hardening again.
A few minutes later, Yu Sile returned. "Sister, everyone is in the main hall now," he said.
