Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 638: CEO
Chapter 638: Chapter 638: CEO
The CEO’s smirk faltered for a split second.
But he quickly recovered, leaning back again.
"Tough words, Miss Yu. But remember, I hold the keys to your future in this company. A single word from me, and—"
"—And what?" Yu Holea interrupted, her voice sharp as a blade. Her eyes bore into his with an intensity that made him falter again.
"Do you think I’m afraid of you? Do you think Bright Star is my only option? If you want to play games, I’ll make sure you regret it."
The CEO’s smile vanished completely. For a moment, the room was silent, the tension thick.
Finally, he cleared his throat, his expression turning neutral.
The CEO’s expression remained cold as he stood from his chair, his tall frame casting a shadow over the room. He walked around the desk slowly, his sharp eyes never leaving Yu Holea.
Just as he was about to reach out to touch her, Yu Holea’s instincts kicked in.
She shifted her stance slightly, her muscles tensed in defense. Her piercing eyes warned him to stay back.
The CEO paused mid-motion, then suddenly laughed—a low, amused sound that echoed in the quiet room.
Yu Holea’s eyes narrowed further, suspicion flooding her mind.
What’s so funny? she thought, considering her next move.
Her hand instinctively reached toward her bag where she kept her talismans.
Could he be possessed? Should I just deal with him now?
Before she could act, the CEO raised his hands in mock surrender.
"Relax, Yu Holea. There’s no need for violence."
Her hand froze mid-reach, but her glare remained.
"You think I’m going to let my guard down because you’re laughing? Explain yourself. Now."
The CEO’s smirk deepened, and his gaze softened in a way that felt oddly familiar. His next words made her freeze completely.
"How can I molest my own girlfriend?"
Yu Holea blinked, her sharp demeanor replaced with pure confusion. "What did you just say?" she demanded, her tone colder than ever.
The CEO didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he straightened his posture and smirked. Before her eyes, his features began to shift. His neatly combed hair unraveled slightly, his sharp, suit-clad appearance softened, and his eyes turned from dark brown to a familiar deep blue.
It was as if time itself slowed. Yu Holea watched in disbelief as the imposing CEO transformed into none other than Qiao Jun.
"Surprise," he said casually, his deep blue eyes locking onto hers with an intensity that made her heart skip a beat.
For a moment, Yu Holea just stared at him, her mind racing to process what had just happened. Her usual calm composure faltered as shock flickered across her face.
"Qiao Jun?" she finally asked, her voice louder than she intended. "What... How... Why are you here?"
Qiao Jun leaned casually against the desk, his grin widening. "Why not? I am the CEO of Bright Star, after all."
Her jaw dropped slightly before she snapped it shut again. "You’re kidding me."
"Nope," he said, popping the p for emphasis.
The realization hit her like a freight train. Bright Star Entertainment, the biggest company in the industry, was his? The man she’d been dating all this time owned the company she had just signed with?
Her surprise quickly morphed into anger. She glared at him, her eyes practically shooting daggers.
"Qiao Jun!" she yelled, stepping forward with clenched fists. "You planned this, didn’t you? All of this was some stupid prank to mess with me!"
Qiao Jun held up his hands in mock defense, his smirk never wavering.
"Now, now, don’t be mad, Holea. I only wanted to see how you’d handle the situation."
"Handle the situation?" she repeated, her tone dripping with disbelief.
"You made me think you were some creepy CEO trying to harass me! You’re impossible!"
Without another word, Yu Holea swung her fist at him, but Qiao Jun sidestepped effortlessly, laughing as he did.
"Come on, Holea," he teased, dodging another punch.
"You can’t actually be mad. Look at it this way—I was testing you, and you passed with flying colors."
"I’ll make you pay for this!" she shouted, her anger only fueling her strikes.
Qiao Jun continued to evade her attacks with ease, his movements fluid and practiced. "You’re so cute when you’re angry," he said, his tone light and teasing.
"Stop calling me cute!" she snapped, throwing another punch.
This time, Qiao Jun caught her wrist mid-swing, his grip firm but gentle. He spun her around quickly, trapping her arms behind her back.
"Let go of me, Qiao Jun!" Yu Holea struggled, her voice laced with frustration.
"Not until you calm down," he said, his voice lower now, but still holding that teasing edge.
Yu Holea glared over her shoulder at him, her cheeks flushed with both exertion and embarrassment. She was about to snap at him again when he suddenly leaned closer, his warm breath brushing against her ear.
"You know," he murmured, "I missed you."
Her heart stuttered at his words, and for a split second, she forgot why she was even angry. But before she could respond, Qiao Jun turned her around to face him.
His intense blue eyes locked onto hers, and without warning, he closed the small distance between them, pressing his lips against hers.
Yu Holea’s eyes widened in shock. She froze, completely caught off guard by the sudden kiss.
Qiao Jun’s hold on her was firm yet gentle, his lips warm against hers. Slowly, her initial shock faded, replaced by a mix of emotions she couldn’t quite put into words.
When he finally pulled back, his smirk returned, though it was softer this time. "There. Consider it my apology for scaring you earlier."
Yu Holea blinked, her mind still reeling. It took her a moment to gather her thoughts, and when she did, her anger reignited.
"Apology?" she repeated, her voice rising again. "You think a kiss makes up for what you just did?"
Qiao Jun chuckled, his hands still resting lightly on her shoulders. "Well, you’re not punching me anymore, so I’d say it worked."
Yu Holea huffed, stepping back to put some space between them. Her cheeks were still red, though she tried her best to look composed.
"You’re unbelievable," she muttered, crossing her arms. "You could’ve just told me you owned Bright Star instead of pulling that stupid prank."
"But where’s the fun in that?" Qiao Jun said, his grin playful.
"Fun? For who? Because I’m definitely not having fun!"
Qiao Jun shrugged, unbothered by her anger. "Admit it, Holea. You were impressed when you realized I was the CEO."
She rolled her eyes, refusing to give him the satisfaction. "I’m leaving," she said firmly, turning toward the door.
Before she could take another step, Qiao Jun grabbed her hand, his expression suddenly serious.
"Hey," he said softly, his voice losing its teasing edge.
"I’m proud of you, you know. You handled everything today like a pro. I wasn’t really testing you. I just wanted to make you laugh.
I initially wanted to tell you right away. However, I saw how tense you were when you received Mr. Yu’s message and wanted to lighten your mood."
Yu Holea paused mid-step, her hand still in Qiao Jun’s grip.
His sudden shift from playful to serious caught her off guard. She turned to face him, her eyes narrowing suspiciously.
"Lighten my mood?" she echoed.
"Do you have any idea how much tension you added to it instead? You think springing something like this on me is funny?"
Qiao Jun’s lips twitched into a sheepish grin.
"Okay, maybe I miscalculated a little. But it worked out, didn’t it? You’re not mad at that fake CEO anymore."
Her glare hardened. "You mean you. You were the fake CEO."
"Details," Qiao Jun said with a shrug, though his expression softened again.
"Look, Holea, I didn’t mean to upset you. I just... wanted to see you at your best. And, wow, you were amazing.
You stood your ground, you didn’t flinch, and you didn’t let anyone walk over you. That’s the Yu Holea I admire."
Yu Holea’s frown faltered for just a moment, but she quickly masked it with annoyance.
"Flattery isn’t going to get you off the hook."
"Then how about a kiss?" Qiao Jun suggested with a pout.
Yu Holea raised an eyebrow and rolled her eyes,
"Eh? I think a slap would suffice."
Qiao Jun’s eyes widened dramatically, and he took a step back, pretending to shield his face.
"Whoa, whoa, no need for violence, Miss Yu!" he said, half-laughing, half-pleading.
Yu Holea crossed her arms and gave him a flat look. "Oh, now you’re scared? You weren’t scared when you pulled that dumb prank on me."
Qiao Jun scratched the back of his head, looking a little sheepish. "Okay, okay, I admit it. It was a bad idea. But you have to admit, you handled it like a total boss. You didn’t even flinch!"
"Of course, I didn’t flinch," Yu Holea snapped. "I thought I was dealing with a real creep, and I wasn’t about to let him intimidate me."
Qiao Jun grinned at her, his blue eyes sparkling. "And that’s exactly why I love you."
