Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 503: Corruption
Chapter 503: Chapter 503: Corruption
Yu Holea’s smile did not waver.
"I understand, goddess. And I never mentioned that I wanted to clear or cleanse it. However, I do think that the problem is like mental illness..."
The goddess frowned,
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean, goddess is that corruption, like mental illness, cannot be simply eradicated with a single action or spell. It requires a multifaceted approach.
Healing the soul, addressing the underlying causes, and providing ongoing support and care. It’s not about cleansing; it’s about understanding and treating the root issues."
The goddess regarded her thoughtfully, her gaze less harsh.
"You propose a holistic approach, then. One that addresses the corruption at its core rather than merely suppressing its symptoms."
"Exactly," Yu Holea replied.
"And I believe that with the right methods, we can help the corrupted candidates find their way back to themselves. It won’t be easy, and it won’t be quick, but it’s a path worth pursuing."
The goddess seemed to ponder this for a moment, her expression unreadable.
"Very well, Candidate Qilin. I will grant you the opportunity to try. But know this: if you fail, the consequences will be dire, not only for the candidates but for yourself as well."
Yu Holea nodded solemnly.
"I understand, goddess. I won’t take this lightly. I will do everything in my power to succeed."
Then her expression changed and she said,
"However I have three conditions which I hope the goddess could agree to."
The goddess was silent before motioning Yu Hoela to speak.
"First I want absolute cooperation from you and second you will answer my questions."
Yu Holea deliberately didn’t specify the number. Under Qiao Jun’s training, she learned many tricks.
The only problem was the goddess wasn’t a vegetarian either. She was an old fox.
"Specify how many questions are you planning to ask."
After thinking for a while, Yu Holea stated,
"9."
"At most 4." The goddess bargained.
"8. Final. I won’t lower anymore." Yu Holea stated.
"I can answer only 4. Either take the deal or leave it."
"I am the only person who is capable of curing them. At least give me some benefits. I will take a step back and you take a step forward. 7."
Lira: "..." What was going on?
Sir Aldric: "..." This...is so unique!
Who would have thought that someday, someone would bargain with the goddess in such a unique manner...
Only their lady was capable of this feat.
After much back and forth, the goddess gritted her teeth and said,
"Fine! 6 then!"
Yu Holea instantly praised her,
"The goddess is indeed the most mighty and noble existence in the universe."
The goddess felt a bit better hearing Yu Holea’s praise but she didn’t show it on her face. Hell! even if she had shown it on her face, Yu Holea wouldn’t have been able to see it.
"What is your third condition?"
"Cure my fiance." Yu Holea’s voice sounded relaxed but Goddess knew Yu Holea’s true feelings.
Feeling helpless, the goddess said in a defeated voice,
"I can’t."
"Why?" This time Yu Holea couldn’t control her agitation. "It is okay if you don’t fulfill my first two conditions as long as you can fulfill the third condition."
The goddess hesitated,
"Candidate Qilin there are certain matters that I can’t deal with. I can only tell you that your fiance will be cured after 3 years."
Yu Holea stood up abruptly. If someone looked at her closely they would notice that her body was shaking slightly.
"I don’t care." Yu Holea’s eyes were a little red. "I don’t care! Just heal him! I promise you to cure anyone you want! Just cure him. If you can’t cure him...then there is no use in keeping the goddess city!"
Yu Holea’s aura turned slightly chaotic.
Lira and Sir Aldric’s expression changed.
Both of them exchanged glances. They thought that Yu Holea was able to overcome corruption.
But they were wrong...
Even if Yu Holea won against darkness, her soul still...darkened a bit in the end.
Otherwise, the previous Yu Holea won’t her inner desperation so violently.
Yu Holea walked up to Goddess and said in a dark tone,
"If you don’t start to cure my fiance I will destroy this world. I don’t fear the punishment. I was cursed for 2 lifetimes. If I can survive at that time, what could possibly, I can’t withstand?"
The atmosphere turned dark.
If Yu Holea had been conscious she would have realized that the atmosphere was turning suffocating but she wasn’t in her right state of mind.
The goddess calmly said,
"Candidate Qilin. Calm down."
Yu Holea’s red eyes were filled with fury and she stared straight at the goddess,
"I think you don’t understand me, goddess. I am calm. If I wasn’t calm this entire justice hall could have collapsed. Now tell me whether you will cure my Jun’er or not? I don’t want any ambiguous answer."
The goddess pursued her lips,
"The corruption is slowly trying to control you..."
"I know. And honestly, I don’t care. I just my fiance to be cured." Yu Holea continued.
The goddess frowned,
"Candidate Qilin you are being greedy. Didn’t I already punish the Perpetrator? Now you even want me to cure your fiance? How can you be so selfish?"
A mocking smile appeared on Yu Holea’s face,
"I am grateful that you punished the people who harmed my fiance, but that was in exchange for me taking backing the ghosts that were haunting them.
You wouldn’t have punished them due to the past memories you shared with them. You love them and this caused your judgment to be clouded.
Your love for them, caused you to protect them again and again, even though you knew their actions would eventually turn more absurd.
So don’t act as if you punished them on my behalf. In fact, you knew that I would create chaos in the goddess city and hence send those 9 candidates away."
The goddess waved her hand, and the pressure in the atmosphere suddenly increased.
It was so much that even though Yu Holea tried her best to suppress herself from vomiting blood, a line of blood slowly seeped out from the corner of her lips.
"Candidate Qilin, who are you to preach to me? Do you think you are fair and just?" The goddess asked lightly but there was a faint mocking tone in her voice.
"You are able to stand on such high ground because you have never experienced a situation where your loved one made a mistake, otherwise you wouldn’t have been so calm."
Yu Holea swallowed the blood and asked,
"So the goddess thinks, she is handling the situation correctly?"
The goddess was silent.
Yu Holea wiped away the blood from her lips with trembling hands.
"Goddess, if someone harmed Candidate Phoenix one day and you went to settle the scores, but the other party is perfunctory and asks you to deal with the culprit on your own.
And when you finally start to settle the score, the other party interferes to defend the culprit, won’t you feel indignant?
Just think if Candidate Phoenix was seriously injured and the herbs to treat Candidate Phoenix were with the other party who refused to give it to you, would not be furious?"
The goddess’s expression softened, her rigid stance faltering for a moment as she considered Yu Holea’s words.
There was a flicker of understanding in her eyes, a glimpse of the pain and desperation Yu Holea was feeling.
"Candidate Qilin, I understand your anguish," the goddess said softly. "But there are laws and rules even I must follow."
Yu Holea’s eyes suddenly flickered and the darkness in the atmosphere slowly resided she stated with certainty,
"You are hiding something."
The goddess’s body stiffened for a mere second.
Yu Holea’s eyes narrowed her eyes.
"What is it?"
"Now that you are stable I will leave." The goddess said.
Yu Holea’s eyes darkened and she asked,
"Destiny? Is it destiny?"
The goddess almost lost her footing.
"What destiny is it? According to what I know, Jun’er should have stayed in the death plane but due to my prayer, he was saved, right? So his destiny changed at the moment..."
The goddess suddenly snapped her fingers and vanished.
Yu Holea’s mood slowly improved.
And for the first time in these few months, a smile appeared on her face.
She had an intuition.
If even goddess couldn’t bring her Jun back, it could only mean one thing...he was either beyond saving or there was something big going on.
Guess what?
If he was beyond saving then the goddess wouldn’t have said that Qiao Jun would be cured after 3 years.
Why 3 years later?
From her experience one thing is clear...Qiao Jun maybe...is not as disadvantageous a position as she thinks.
Maybe...just maybe...he gained something from this accident.
This would explain why the goddess who has to be impartial, didn’t agree to treat Qiao Jun even though her(Goddess’s) child was at fault.
(Author: Here goddess’s child means all the candidates.)
