Chapter 228: Don’t faint too soon
Chapter 228: Don’t faint too soon
The soft glow of the setting sun painted the terrace in warm hues of gold and amber.
A gentle breeze carried the faint fragrance of flowers from the garden below, brushing through the curtains that swayed lazily against the railings.
Brandon sat comfortably on the outdoor couch as wisps of clouds drifted lazily.
In his lap, Ravene was sitting sideways with her body curled toward him, her legs draped over the cushion.
She had her arms wrapped loosely but affectionately around his neck as she rested her head against his shoulder.
He looked down at her with a faint smile as his fingers gently brushed across her cheek, tracing the curve of her jaw as she snuggled closer into the warm hollow of his neck.
"Kael..." she whispered softly against his skin and he felt a little ticklish.
He tilted his head slightly to glance at her, amused by how she always chose to call him that when she wanted his attention in a tender way.
"I feel like it’s been a while since we spent time alone like this," she murmured.
Brandon blinked and his smile softened.
She shifted slightly, and her delicate fingers idly played with the strands of hair at the nape of his neck as she spoke.
"Back at Solvyrn Academy, we were always together... Even if you were busy, I could always find a moment with you. But here..." she trailed off, a hint of longing in her tone, "...it’s been harder to catch you alone. Everyone’s always around you."
A small giggle slipped from her lips then and she lifted her head slightly, enough to press her temple lightly against his jaw "So... I’m glad I finally got this little piece of you for myself again."
His chest tightened slightly at her words and he wrapped his arms around her a little tighter, pulling her fully against him so he could feel the steady rhythm of her breathing.
"Same here," he murmured back, resting his chin on her silky hair. "I missed this too."
She leaned back just enough to meet his gaze, "Mhm... we were cuddling all night in my room," she reminded with a soft, teasing tone.
He smiled wryly "We were more than just cuddling."
A faint blush colored her pale cheeks and she bit his neck gently, just enough to make him inhale sharply.
"Mhm..." she hummed softly, "We were having sex... "
Brandon chuckled quietly, holding her even closer.
She melted against him, and for a long moment, neither spoke.
The breeze, the faint sound of distant birds, and their quiet breathing were the only things filling the silence.
Then, Ravene’s lashes fluttered slightly, and she seemed to remember something.
Pulling back a little, she tilted her head with a curious look "Where’s Eira? I told her to come back by afternoon... but it’s already evening."
Brandon gently pecked her lips before replying "Seems like they met Elena and Calistra along the way. They’re all hanging out for the day. Probably shopping or sitting somewhere, chatting. They’ll return later."
"Mhm..." she whispered, sounding almost relieved. "Then I guess I still have you to myself for a while longer..."
He smiled at that, rubbing her back slowly as the sky deepened into a rich, dusky orange.

*tap* *tap* The soft sound of heels striking the polished marble echoed faintly through the dimly lit hallway.
Charlotte and Elize’s figures cast long shadows against the walls of the secluded building deep within Solvyrn City.
The place was silent, with dust-laden windows filtering the waning daylight into thin, hazy streams.
They reached the uppermost floor, where a single metal door awaited.
Elize reached out with slender fingers and pushed it open without hesitation.
Inside, the room was sparse and cold with a simple chair and faint traces of dried blood along the floor that had long lost its color.
Elize stepped inside first and raised her hand lazily, tracing a faint circle in the air.
A small tear in space appeared, and from it, a body crumpled to the floor. *thud*
"Huff... Huff..."
The fallen woman’s breaths came in ragged gasps.
She was drenched in sweat and her pale skin was trembling as if she had crawled out of a nightmare.
Ji Lingsha raised her head weakly, strands of her hair sticking messily to her face.
Her wide eyes darted around the room in panic until she finally glanced at Charlotte and Elize.
"C-Charlotte..."
Charlotte’s gaze turned cold instantly and she pressed her heel hard on Lingsha’s face, pinning her to the ground like an insect.
crack.
The slight pressure alone made Ji Lingsha’s already fragile body quiver in terror.
She could only grit her teeth as Charlotte’s shadow loomed over her.
Meanwhile, Elize moved toward the lone chair in the room and sat down.
Crossing one long leg over the other, she exhaled a soft breath and spoke "I faked her death and brought her here."
She gestured slightly toward the trembling Ji Lingsha "Her ether core is already destroyed. She’s weaker than a normal human now. She can’t even heal from a scratch without medicine."
Ji Lingsha flinched at the words, her trembling gaze darting from Elize to Charlotte.
Elize continued in that same calm tone, "Maybe I’ll remove two of her hands too. We just need her alive for a while... long enough to make her spill every detail we need."
As she said this, she pulled out a slim cigarette and lit it.
She placed it between her lips and took a slow drag.
Charlotte’s heel pressed harder against Lingsha’s face, making her whimper in pain "I was a bit disheartened that I couldn’t kill her with my own hands that day..."
"But now... now I’m happy."
Ji Lingsha’s body stiffened as she saw Charlotte’s eyes up close, distorting with two conflicting colors.
Green and yellow flickered faintly like fractured glass, giving off an unsettling, almost inhuman aura.
Elize’s gaze sharpened slightly as she noticed the distortion, and she let out a thin stream of smoke from her lips "Don’t let her take over you," she warned quietly.
"She already caused enough chaos when she made Brandon break up with that poor girl."
Charlotte’s foot stilled for a moment and her gaze lowered slightly. " ’She’ isn’t... truly bad. Just... overprotective of Brandon. She deals with everything violently, but... her core is the same."
"She killed the World Leader, I had to use my ability to bring her back."
"Atleast, the ’second one’ is better than the ’first one’..."
Elize gave a small nod "...Yes. She’s less fierce. The first one is... pure wrath."
She gave a dry chuckle, tapping ash off the cigarette "All of this... because you were scared of dogs. How ridiculous when you think about it."
Charlotte’s brows furrowed slightly "...Sister, why bring that up now?"
She scratched at her neck and replied "And didn’t you say you stopped smoking?"
Elize smiled faintly, but her eyes softened in a distant way "Mhm. I did. I stopped it for Brandon when I adopted him. I didn’t want him to grow up smelling this."
She tilted her head back slightly, blowing out a slow plume of smoke "But now? Haa... If he finds out I picked it up again, he’ll probably scold me."
Charlotte’s lips curved faintly at that "He would. He hates the smell."
Elize leaned back in the chair, her sharp gaze shifting back to the broken woman beneath Charlotte’s heel.
"Well. Enough reminiscing. You know what needs to be done."
"Torture her. Break her slowly. Investigate if anyone inside the Government is planning anything against Brandon."
Elize’s voice held no hesitation "Use your people. I don’t care how."
Ji Lingsha’s eyes widened in pure horror.
She started trembling violently, struggling to move and crawl away, but she was far too weak.
Charlotte crouched down, her distorted green-yellow gaze meeting Lingsha’s tear-filled eyes.
"...Don’t faint too soon. You still have a lot to tell me."

Eira and Dhayun walked side by side down the quiet residential street, both holding small paper bags of pastries they had packed to take home.
Dhayun smiled brightly, her cheeks slightly flushed from both the laughter and the long day out.
Their steps slowed as they reached the familiar house.
As they stepped through the gate, they both couldn’t help but giggle again, still amused from the conversation they shared during their walk.
"Ah, that was really fun," Eira said and stretched her body.
With a nod, Dhayun replied "Yeah, it was great."
They both smiled faintly before heading to the front door together.
The sound of their light laughter reached inside before the door even opened.
Entering in, they saw Brandon and Ravene sitting on the couch.
Brandon smiled "Oh you are back. come on.. let’s have some coffee."
"Mhm..."
Eira ran to him and hugged him "Brandon!!"
With a chuckle, he hugged her back and raised her ass as she wrapped her legs around his waist "Did you enjoy the day out?"
She nodded her head "Yes, yes.... it was hella fun with Dhayun, Elena and Calistra."
He glanced at Dhayun and winked his eye.
She smiled faintly and nodded her head "Mhm."
