Chapter 1949: The Cult Leader Is Dead?

"Didn't you destroy the Blood Moon Sect Master?"

Rachel's expression seemed even more puzzled when she heard Connor's words. She had just witnessed him devouring that shadow!

"That wasn't the real Blood Moon Cult Leader!" He shook his head and continued, "I just devoured a remnant soul, not the actual soul of the Blood Moon Cult Leader. His true soul should be hidden somewhere else in Willborough!"

"Remnant soul?" She was momentarily confused and asked, "What is a remnant soul?"

"A remnant soul can be understood as a part of a person's soul," he explained, though he himself didn't have a deep understanding of remnant souls.

"A part of a soul?" Her eyes widened in astonishment. Despite being a martial artist, she found the concept of souls quite incredible and had difficulty grasping the meaning of remnant souls.

"Earlier, you were curious about why I suddenly became so powerful, right? It's because I inadvertently absorbed a person's remnant soul, granting me this immense strength. But honestly, I don't fully understand what remnant souls are either. You can think of remnant souls as a substitute for a person's soul. The one I killed earlier was merely a substitute for the Blood Moon Cult Leader!" he continued.

"If someone can control their own soul, does that mean there are gods and ghosts in this world?" she hastily asked.

"It's possible." He nodded.

She looked at him, her face filled with shock. This journey with Connor had certainly broadened her horizons.

Meanwhile, outside the Heavenly Demon Altar, many disciples of the Blood Moon Sect had gathered. They seemed to be awaiting an outcome.

For years, no one had dared to openly enter the Heavenly Demon Altar like Connor and Rachel did. They were the first.

So, they were curious about whether Connor and Rachel would make it out of the Heavenly Demon Altar.

Moreover, this could determine their freedom. If Connor and Rachel emerged from the Heavenly Demon Altar, it meant that Dexter and the others were dead at Connor's hands. In that case, they would no longer be under the control of the Blood Moon Sect and wouldn't have to serve as sacrifices.

Their emotions were quite complex, and they were silently hoping for a miracle.

"Why hasn't anyone come out yet?" A middle-aged man seemed to be growing impatient, furrowing his brow.

"Yeah, it's been quite a while. Shouldn't the outcome have been decided by now?" another person chimed in.

"I wonder if those two actually managed to kill the Cult Leader," a young man mused.

"This..." Just then, a middle-aged man who had been with the Blood Moon Sect for a long time spoke up.

Upon hearing his words, the people there wore expressions of resignation and sighed.

After all, the words of that middle-aged man made sense. The Cult Leader of the branch and the other elders were simply not comparable to the average disciples in terms of strength.

"It seems that even if gods came, we still wouldn't have a chance!" someone sighed.

"The door is opening..." At that moment, a young man suddenly exclaimed.

Although their hearts were heavy, the crowd still looked towards the entrance.

Moments later, the doors swung open, and two figures slowly walked out of the Heavenly Demon Altar. Those two were none other than Connor and Rachel.

"They actually survived..."

"How is this possible?"

"Could it be that they really killed the Cult Leader?"

At that moment, everyone present was left dumbfounded. Their expressions conveyed their shock, and they couldn't believe what they were seeing.

After stepping out of the Demon Altar, Connor stared expressionlessly at the people outside.

Rachel softly asked him, "What do you plan to do with these people?"

"These people are just unfortunate commoners who were used as tools for the Sect Leader's revival. Let them go," he calmly replied.

"Agreed!" She shared the same sentiment. She stepped forward and called out, "The Sect Leader of the Blood Moon Sect and the other elders are all dead!"

"What? Is the Sect Leader really dead?"

"Is it true or not? Could there really be someone in this world who can kill our Sect Leader..."

"Who are these two, exactly?"

Hearing her words, the crowd started whispering among themselves, seemingly unable to believe her.

"If you don't believe it, you can go inside and see for yourself!" she replied, expressionless.

However, the disciples of the Blood Moon Sect, who had been enslaved for so long, didn't dare to enter the Heavenly Demon Altar.

"We have regained our freedom from now on. If you want to stay here, then stay. If you want to leave, you should do so quickly!" she continued.

"Is what you're saying really true?" a middle-aged man shouted.

She glanced at the middle-aged man and calmly said, "We've been out here for quite some time. If your Cult Leader were still alive, why hasn't he come out?"
